My husband just had the same problem. He tried knocking on the starter and checking it was all the way in park and nothing. Then his friend showed up, jiggled the battery cables and it started right up. Maybe a loose connection somewhere, we just replaced the starter a year ago so it probably the wiring to that.

Can’t speak on your specific case but I had similar symptoms after doing some work on it. All it took for me was jiggling the shifter in park. (I have AT) It was probably something to do with what I was doing but I didn’t mess with the shifter at all.

Was the work u were doing pulling and pushing like body work? Mines doing the same thing no start no crank after body work

@@bukkifford4362 Maybe a little, my son and I replaced some fluids, transmission, oil and the spark plugs. I noticed it when we tried the first cycle of transmission fluid change. Car would not crank, I basically cycled the shifter a bit and placed it back in park and it came on.

After replacing the starter (which I bench tested and it was getting stuck) it still wouldn’t crank. All relays worked it seemed.. I got it to start by wiggling the wire harness connected to the starter and it started right up.
I know it could be many things but hopefully this comment helps someone else out.

Yo, I'm reallllly hoping you see this message. I'm having the exact issue. (versa 09 SL 1.8L manual) . It's been on going for years. My best guess is it's a starter signal wire, fault, fray, ground, corrosion.. Did you ever get this fixed somehow and how? I'm fed up and I don't want my car to randomly not start some day if I ever stall it in future or i'm in -40 weather, it has a mind of it's own, it can go on weeks working every single day on first crank, or just some random day when I'm in a rush I go and hear a click and it doesn't decide to turn (no power to the starter?) , I fiddle for a while with the harness and maybe it will crank and run, or I hotwired a little wire to go to the starter and i touch it with this and wiggle the harness and it starts. I'm just worried it's destroying the cable more over time to a point where I won't be able to jump it at all one day
