  • HORSE TREATS RECIPE
    1 carrot, grated
    1 apple, grated
    1 cup molasses
    2 1/2 cups oats
    2 tablespoons oil
    1/2 cup flour- approximately depending on how wet your mixture is.
    peppermints
    Bake at 300 degrees for about 30 minutes
    Place one peppermint on each treat immediately after removing from the oven.

    Honey can be used as a substitute for molasses
    Polo mints can be used as a substitute for peppermints

    Ive noticed if you bake the peppermint in with the treat it doesnt take as long to bake it. I prefer baking it into it.

      +Maria Helen You can use honey. I've done that before, but people have been saying you can also use maple syrup, but idk I've never used it

    I think my only problem would be is me wanting to eat them before my horse got the chance. I'll just replace the molasses with sugar:)

    my daughter's horse doesn't like peppermint. what can I substitute for the top? or should I just leave it like that?

      +Alisha McCalister Other candy. You can use anything. Licorice. A piece of apple. Dried appricots. Your horse's favorite treat (especially if it is unhealthy, you can have some healthy stuff with it)

      SmallPetInfo1 just the regular flat beater, you could really use any kind though :)

      No they didn't have a brand, we've bought the Russel Stover ones before that come in a green package and Rumour liked those ones better though!

    my brown purebred quarter horse barley absolutely loved these he ate all of em my BROWN AND WHITE ARABIAN liked em but it wasn't her favorite by the way her name is VAnnila bean but for short bean btw sorry for caps

      I have before. I don't think it really matters. But add in a little less honey than you would molasses. Honey is stickier and I think it's also sweeter.

      +Karolina Szafer some people use honey, ive used honey, some of the horses at my barn like it others dont. Depends on the horse

    I put it at 300° and burnt them in 15 mins 😂😂😂😂 i can imagine my horse's reaction now 😩 no treats for today 😂😂😂😂😂

      Marissa Hamric I could be wrong but they just look like normal hard peppermint, however sometimes it's better to use the softer kind because it's easier for the horses to chew.
