Yes! The more Christianity as a whole tries to be more on the level of the world the less interested the world becomes in what the church has to offer. Lack of reverence in the churches across the globe has caused such a decline in interest from the lost (and sadly even the proclaimed Christians, Catholic or Protestant) If we are no different then why would they be interested? The lost & suffering are searching for something vastly different than what they have! The church needs to be different, set to a higher standard and stand out, not blend in!!
I found this very helpful as I’m feeling very isolated lately, too. I feel like I don’t fit anywhere. I’m thankful that you said this out loud so I don’t feel “crazy.”
You most certainly do fit, when I was born again the most liberating truth and change for me was that my identity was found in Christ not fitting in with a group even my local church group ) I’m a isolater by choice I like my own company and space so that might not be you, but I was just trying to impress that truth that in Christ I have everything and I don’t need the “””things””” of this world to fit in anymore if that makes sense ) I believe we are all crazy to a degree, I’m not catholic but I have found my identity in Christ ) and that has transformed my life for eternity ) just wanted to state that. I still have my struggles due to the groans of this world and all that entails, just wanted to say you ain’t alone and Christ knows our struggles very personally and the Holy Spirit comforts us when these matters arise ) we are blessed beyond measure.
I'm thankful and a sense of relief to read your comment here also, which expresses the isolation I've been experiencing too. I've been asking my husband lately what if it's us that's crazy. And reading all these great comments here tonight, I'm finding I'm not alone. Thanks.
Beautifully stated. "The mass isn't about us, it's about God. He deserves the best we have to offer him." That's why we should defend and attend the traditional mass.
I was just going to write that same sentiment, but I liked your comment instead. You are absolutely right on! God deserves to be worshipped according to His revealed way of worshipping him. It is a matter of Justice to give God what is due to Him alone. To Him be the Glory+
I am right there with you Brian. It is hard to be a Catholic, even harder to be Traditional. But that is where I am called by God. As for the difficulty of being in the minority, so were the Apostles. So take heart my friend, we are in good company.
Beautifully stated . I also feel as though I have been called to traditional Catholicism . It is simply but profoundly where I belong for worship . It is the closest I've come to worship worthy of Our Great God . May we pray , one for the other , through these difficult times .
@@kubatism77 Good point. Let's remember that there should not have spiritual pride in our hearts. And the liturgy of the Latin Mass reminds me of that , and of my desperate need for mercy , unlike anything else .
The Traditional mass goers of today remind me of the Apostles hiding in the Upper Room until the Pentecost, when after having received the fire of God's fierce Love, they went out into the world and changed it. So, here is my prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, give my Catholic brothers the courage to come out from hiding and help change hearts and minds of their brothers in the Novus Ordo Church. I am fighting all alone and I attend both forms on Sundays. Yes, dear Lord, you gave them the best form of Adoration of Our Lord Jesus, but this time you forgot to give them the courage that goes with it. Therefore Holy Spirit, "Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created, and You shall renew the face of the earth... "
I'll tell ya brother. If you're struggling, you're on the right path. The Enemy has no need to attack his own. For my part, I'm thankful to have access to the Sacraments in my simple mountain church. I love learning about the struggles of the Saints. Our Faith is the most beautiful thing I have ever experienced. As you mine deeper and press harder into the precepts and Traditions of the Faith things get richer, more vibrant and more alive. Also, I'm so happy to be alive in this time of the ascendancy of evil as these are the times that Saints are made. These are times we can live out our Faith in opposition to the powers of this world. To live the Faith under the threat of oppression and even lethal hatred is awesome, to me at least... I love it. This is the time to be a Faithful Catholic!
That is true. God deemed us somehow for some reason right to live in this age of Holy Mother Church where she is being subverted and attacked from within. We stay faithful and proclaim the true Catholic Faith. We are fewer but we are fighting in Christ's army. We win in the end. Quis ut Deus?
God intended us to be *here in this place now.* He has His reasons and maybe all will be revealed but maybe not. But we must stay the course. No matter what. You managed to convert at the worst of times and there will be others who do too. When my parents converted after WW2, they felt that the Church was hopelessly out of “style.” They felt distinctly excluded by Vat2. We had No Mass at all to attend for pretty much THIRTY YEARS. Imagine that. Imagine being like the young Athanasius Schneider, taking a train trip to attend Mass. We ourselves are that “Church” you want to exist. The NO liturgy is a train wreck. My older sister loves that crap (born in 1952). She sometimes goes to the Methodist Church too! Explains it all, right? She is one of those boomers who just loves every deviation from the old faith. Ugh. We can’t speak. My parents were appalled, while they were living. Soldier on.
Deeply empathetic to your struggle, Brian, because it is OUR struggle. Sometimes we need to shut the ‘news’ out and focus on our little portion of the vineyard, which begins with our very self/soul. It is in these times that Christ calls us to trust.
I know the feeling well. As Anglicans, we had the beautiful and reverent English liturgy, fantastic old hymn books, gorgeous architecture, well-crafted homilies, a wonderful parish community, and not to mention altar rails, ad orientem posture, Eucharistic reception on the tongue, and many more of the same features many love about the TLM. But we lacked one big thing: communion with Rome. So we gave all that up and took a leap of faith to join the Church. It has had its rough spots, but we’ve never regretted that decision. Plus, with the gift from Pope Benedict to the Church of the Ordinariate, we’ve even been able to get almost all of those traditions back. God never takes anything away unless he’s planning to give back far more than he’s taken. We only have to have the trust to let go and take a leap of faith.
Most of the things you listed are originally Catholic… like the architecture, the most beautiful CoE and Lutheran buildings are from before they split. But good for you for joining. We’ve survived heresies in the past, even the early Church, at points it seemed like the heretics had control of it all.
Brian, stay the course. Your struggle is shared by many. Our Lord is working in this struggle to bring us closer to Him. A priest told during a recent confession to ask God for joy in the midst of these struggles. The Catholic Church has suffered with this before. The good Lord does his best work when we are walking through the desert. God bless and keep you.🙏🙏🙏
“A time is coming when men will go mad, and when they see someone who is not mad, they will attack him, saying, 'You are mad; you are not like us.” Saint Anthony
Brian, I understand your struggle. I am a convert (30+ years) My first experience was as a child at a TLM. In converting I was a bit disappointed of all that was missing but I still felt called. Pendulums swing far right then back. I pray we return to more of what drew me and many others to the church. As it is, it can feel dry. We are to be set apart for God. Why are we trying so diligently to blend with a culture we don’t respect? God bless you for your honest and edifying talks.
Hi, revert millennial here. It really echoed with me this video. During the first year of my conversion I used to go to a “charismatic renewal” parish, full of the tambourines and cringe dancing we all Catholics know from some of the novus ordo. It hit my faith. I converted mainly during college after reading medieval philosophy and then getting into studying the Bible. What I found in the Gospels was that something that I had been looking for, it resonated through me so much I felt it stabbed my heart with light and truth. I somehow didn’t see it reflected in that mass. I went through a crisis and decided not to to return and even considered abandoning Catholicism altogether. But something kept pushing inside me and I continued praying the rosary and reading the Bible. One day I attended a mass in a little chapel inside my college campus, not even knowing why I did it. It was small event but full of solemnity and I felt for the first time I had attended a mass dedicated to God instead of dedicated to people. I knew right then I was a catholic and that there was only that path. I don’t know what to say to you that would ease your struggle because we are all so different, but focusing on God instead of the ones who attack Him and refraining from caring too much about people’s opinions has helped me. “Stat Crux dum volvitur orbis” . The Cross is steady while the world turns.
Doesn't that ignore Ephesians 6:12? For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
@Brian Farley But that doesn't make the same distinction made in Ephesians. Our fight is NOT against flesh and blood. It's against the principalities and powers who are permanently fallen. Humanity isn't considered in that category.
"Thank God He deemed us worthy to live in this time" I had a similar thought as well and I find it quite encouraging. Maybe the fact that God chose to put us into this time period means that we are more resilient than people who lived in easier times, spiritually speaking. I hope it's not too prideful to think this way, but I sometimes do believe that it's a miracle that I'm still a Catholic and received the grace to understand Catholic morality as someone who grew up 24/7 surrounded by sin and debauchery through pop culture and constant propaganda against the Church.
my wife and I are both Catholic physicians and know exactly how you feel about the confusion. I would highly recommend the Catholic identity conference by Michael Matt and the Remnant we were there this year 700 likes-minded traditional-minded Catholic and it was a real shot in the arm
I'm through the 1st third of those talks and they are such a gift, like Brian is here. P.S. Catholic lay chaplain here just fired this week from health system for living jab free.
My understanding is Matt and other semi traditional Catholics recognize Bergoglio as valid Pope. So bashing Francis is not Catholic and harmful to one's soul.
It's OK to take a retreat from the news media. Attend adoration or whatever you need to do center yourself around Christ. Rosary etc. My prayers are with you Brian.
I had to stopmwatching the news leading up to the 2016 election. The plan was to be able to return to watching news after the election, but it's just gotten worse, so I may never return to regular news watching again. It's just too damaging to my peace & state of mind.
I'm from Croatia and I stop watching news 2 months ago, more Bible reading, praying and everyday mass help me through day, only Sunday mass is not enough for me these days because I can't handle the world without Christ strenght anymore.
Laure, please don't hold up fake-Catholic Jon Voight as anyone to listen to for wisdom. Voight starred in the first general release X-rated Hollywood films in the '60s: Midnight Cowboy. And at the time, he had a baby girl named Angelina Jolie (Voight), whom he virtually ignored for several years until her mother died from cancer. Really, he's not a good guy.
@@patricegravino6283 I'm not a good guy either. Is there a process that has to be gone through that is forgiveness or is it only judgement? Isn't that a problem with Catholicism even for Catholics?
“He who marries the spirit of the age becomes a widower in the next” - GK Chesterton “There is no there there” - Gertrude Stein. Brian you have described well the banality of our culture and the Church that ran to embrace it. However, if Catholics priests and laity came back to believing in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament as He told us in John 6, they would run back to Church and get on their knees in awe. The Church’s response in providing beautiful architecture, traditional liturgy, powerful homilies and the discipline of the sacraments would naturally follow.
@@TheRealShrike The only "data" that is required is the sad state of the Church today. It is amazing how little wisdom there is in those sad excuses of souls who call themselves Christian today. Anyone with even a TRACE of righteousness can see this, and the fact that you cannot see without "data" means that you are blind indeed.
"If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you." ~ John 15:19
As a Catholic theology professor, I feel a lot of this. I'm tired, too. And a lot of my colleagues do, as well. And most of us do not even teach at particularly traddy colleges and universities. I take a lot of comfort in St Athanasius' nickname these days: contra mundum.
In Eastern Christianity "right glory" (orthodoxy) must be given to God. So it is not about human entitlement, but about the responsibility man has to properly glorify God.
My friend , I have been “ working” in the church for over 30 years . Trust me , I’ve been where you are at . Actually quite recently , thanks to the indifference of our parish priest during this pandemic . Very very trying times. Be strong . Pray , pray a lot .
I am a revert and that transition involved some growth in the faith, character and devotion. Meaning, since returning to the church I have gone from what I would consider a nominal to devout Catholic. I now cherish both the faith and the culture. While that has set me apart from others, to some degree, I try to remain open and loving to everyone. But, something has shifted. I completely agree with you Brian. I too feel the world becoming less tolerant of us - more boldly critical. And, it's not just me but my Protestant friends say the same.
@@kevinkelly2162 you have to take that in the context of bad behavior generally and of sin in the history of the world. Compared to that, it's almost nothing.
Jesus never promised an easy life for his followers, he promised persecution and death. That is simply part of the true FAITH. The Church has grown so fat and lazy that it relies fully on tradition, ritual and silly pseudo-philosophical arguments to justify their belief in God. Real FAITH is almost nonexistent in the modern Church, and that is precisely because of the lack of struggle. Comfort and wealth are the DEATH of faith, and it is about time the Church gets attacked by the world of flesh, now the worthless deadwood can burn away and Christianity can start growing stronger again instead of simply growing larger and more fat.
Brian, I can’t thank you enough for opening this can of worms. You’ve discussed so many excellent points and wounds we are all experiencing to varying degrees. Keep this discussion going! It is especially powerful coming from a lay faithful Catholic. If a faithful member of the clergy can enter into it, that would be so great.
God will never let His people down. Nobody told us that we were entitled to get our way. We have to try to understand the ways of God and to accept and offer our struggle.
Cope and hope. If I believed in god I'd definitely be an anti theist. All the "good" gods abandoned good people. You guys live too comfortable like there are no traumas, shitty circumstances, unfairness etc and it is all allowed by your pathetic beloved god. If he's there, he's not good at all.
Brian, as I told my priest friends 30+ years ago. "If my faith was in you, I'd be long gone!" I'm Catholic still because of the Transubstation. I so appreciate your position. Stay true to yourself and Christ!
Yes "ultimately do not rely on anyone but God alone". That is precisely has been my directive going forward every day. He will not fail us... He is purifying us and cleansing us from the ways of the world ...to be His SPOTLESS BRIDE...
We have these conversations in Protestantism also. To quote a vicar I heard this week, it's all well and good to make the church door wider so more will come in but it also makes it easier for them to leave. So true. The beauty of art inspired by God is often the route by which people come to see the beauty of God himself, so I would stand up for it and say it is indispensable to the soul.
Brian Your struggles are my struggles. That what we, as brothers in Christ, must embrace. I attend the NO Liturgy, in my Church, that is practiced with great reverence and solemnity. I’ve had those who usually attend the Traditional Latin Mass, come to me after the Divine Liturgy and say they were amazed at the beauty of the liturgy. I remain a Novus Ordo practitioner, but I have great respect for the TLM and other Liturgical Rites as demonstrated in the Eastern Catholic Churches. With that said, I morn for the high handed ness of the hierarchy who are trying to suppress a wonderful liturgy. They are injuring faithful Catholics.
How do u think Moses felt when he saw them all dancing and partying over the golden calf- I appreciate you brother- we all have to carry our cross💪🏼🙏🏼💪🏼
@@joshuag.4873 Slaughtering ignorant people, many of whom are innocent, is not a moral strategy for a successful servant leader. It's probably a moot point, though, because many scholars, including Catholic scholars, believe Moses did not exist.
Brian, you have expressed what I am feeling these days as well. I’m exhausted and feel so alone these days. My only refuge has been the TLM which I consider God’s mercy in life. It is possible to stay the course but despair is real… may God’s Peace be with you. 🙏🏻
Brian, you don’t know how much I needed to hear this tonight. I will be praying for you and know that we are out here- feeling the same isolation and desiring to leave this earthly place. Offering our suffering as penance, complete submission to the Holy Will is our road now and goes against all things of the world.
You’re not crazy man, you definitely have a calm and collected sense of things and I hope you find peace in the coming days. I also think you are 100% right about beautiful aesthetic being a thing that draws people in, that hymn you play during the intro and ending of your videos is what originally kept me clicking on your videos even though I’m not catholic. I remember thinking of it and actually searching for your channel just so I could hear that hymn and then I would end up staying for whatever you were discussing.
Brother, I’ve been chronically ill and mostly home bound since 2013. I can’t even access the Sacraments because my illness relates to the environment. I attended the Traditional Mass at Mater Dei in Irving, Tx. I’m holding on to hope and Faith despite my circumstances. My wife and kids attend the Novus Ordo because we live out in the middle of the sticks. Our children are the future. The Latin Mass will carry on, and be restored at some point. Your attitude towards deserving h*ll is accurate. Me too. We are being put to the test. Trust God’s permissive Will. Trust that despite the internal pain in you and the Church, that Christ is with us and will restore all things.
Thanks for sharing some of your struggles! I too have several chronic conditions that make getting to Mass very difficult. (Although I can get there about once a month). I struggle with understanding why God allows this in my life--specifically, the inability to lead my family to church? If you feel comfortable could you share how you cope with this trial and what helps you? God Bless!
Firstly, so sorry for your struggles... Not being able to attend mass would be incredibly difficult and I'm proud of you for persevering. And also, hello neighbor! I'm a parishioner of St Ann in Coppell :)
@@sallyrastogi9853 Nice to meet you! We are out around the Hico, Texas area now. In normal terms we are a bit away from each other, but in Texas terms we really aren’t that far apart. 😁
As someone who sees you occasionally at Mass, I want you to know that the way I see things is we are all on a journey struggling to figure out what is right, in faith and in life. I don't agree with everything you say, but I appreciate that you are genuinely trying to figure things out and honest about your journey. So I appreciate your channel.
Dear Brian, with all the loving and thoughtful comments you must realize how you are certainly not alone. You are living through “The Dark Night of the Soul.” Please read the works of St John of the Cross, a doctor of the Church. Remember, we are the Church militant. Our Mother Mary loves you. Viva Christo Rey.
That’s NOT the dark night at all. Every struggle is now considered a dark night. A dark night is the loss of the sense of God’s love and presence. The rest of one’s life can be and usually is just fine. Read the book again.
@@mrjeffjob is correct and does not seem uncharitable in speaking the truth. People frequently assume that the dark night of the soul refers to any struggle. It does not. It is a spiritual affliction particularly relevant to a person's progress in prayer. While it is a desolation, it is a sign that God has prepared us to detach ourselves from the things of this world so that we can cleave only unto Him. It is a sign of progress in the spiritual life and there is great beauty beyond it. It is tremendously difficult, but can be beautiful in its very difficulty. We experience the dark night of the soul as a result of our spiritual condition, not because of our outward conditions.
Several years ago when I started attending the traditional Latin Mass I had a protestant friend who had grown up Catholic visit me. I took her to 3 different masses during that visit. One was the novus ordo mass in my small town the other was a little bit more reverent of a novus ordo mass. And the 3rd was my traditional Latin mass parish. When I asked her about it later she compared all 3 masses and said without a doubt the one that she liked the most and felt God's presence was the Latin mass. It was hard for her to articulate why. But she just knew that if she were to ever come back to the faith it would be to the TLM. Please pray for her. Her name is Traci. Also pray for my son Devin who has also left the Church. I've managed to get him to go to a few TLMs and he did say he could see himself return at some point. Not exactly sure what is holding him back. But PLEASE in your charity could you say one prayer for him today or offer a small suffering or sacrifice for him. I would be so grateful.
Thanks for sharing. This is a common theme. Two points. 1) Reverence at liturgy is highly dependent on the reverence of the priest and that of the people, not the form of the liturgy. The people and priest at TLM crave that sort of reverence and jointly bring it about. That could happen at novus ordu liturgies too, if the people and priest made it a priority. It is still a valid form of liturgy. Excessive preoccupation with the lack of reverence shown by others may border on seeing others' splinters (or beams) and ignoring one's own beams. 2) News apps are of course going to highlight the negative news. They do not take random samples of all the events happening in the world. But your observation about Google banners being random is spot on and it is indeed very good to know that the majority is not buying it. Maybe a sea change is coming.
Lately I have had this image in my mind whenever I feel discouraged and overwhelmed by this feeling of everything being in opposition to me. It is that I am walking in a dark wood but ahead of me is Jesus Christ holding a lantern for me to see by, and as long as I follow the light of Christ I will not get lost.
I am totally with you Brian! I became Catholic at the age of 51 in one of the Historical Missions in CA - it was so beautiful and so much history (our Baptismal font was a copper bowl made by the Chumash Indians) and the Art Work hundreds of years old. Run by the Capuchins of the Western Province it was so amazing! Then I move to East TN and man what a slap in the face! Most of the churches here (Catholic Ones) looked more like protestant churches, did Novos Ordo Mass, with all sorts of modernist not very reverent things going on! After 4 yrs of this I finally found the Latin Mass community - had never been to a Latin Mass - but wow! It is so reverent and in an older Catholic Church that at one time was the old Cathedral in Knoxville. Going there to the Latin Mass is like having a piece of Heaven on Earth. The time for prayer and contemplation, the beauty the smells and the Love for God is so real. Then Covid hits - and wow - what a nightmare! Between the churches being closed and me wondering where everyone's Faith in God is (I mean you could still go to Walmart so why not Mass?)...and then having all the sex crimes revealed more in the Church AND the Hierarchy doing things like having worship sessions to Pachamama - I was thrown for a huge whammy! I do believe that we have to make our homes now the place of worship - not to replace the church - but in case we can't get to Mass we have at least a corner of our home that focuses on Christ and a love and reverence for him! Some people are even making their homes places where a priest can come say Mass with a small altar area. I also find that my friends are much more drawn to the TRUE Faith of the AGES and the modernist music and bingo and happenings really put them off - I mean why would they leave their protestant churches for something that mimics them? We have to be strong in the Lord and His Word by studying the scripture, reading the lives and works for the great Saints - and make ourselves ready for our own death or the day when the Lord returns to Earth like he promised us! YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!
Thanks for sharing your struggle my dear friend, I will leave you with this quote from Scott Hahn. The Mass and I mean every single Mass, is heaven on earth. Scott Hahn
Thank you for sharing! I was raised in the Catholic Church (and then left in high school) and always felt this way but found it difficult to articulate. I just recently - last week! - returned to the Church. Of course the first church that I attended was a TLM, it was beautiful.
@@MrDupledge I am sorry you were lied to by your religion. You are worthy. All life is worthy. "You are the light of the world." Jesus "Be perfect as your heavenly father is perfect." Jesus Live by your intuition, not by your gullibility.
You beg for mercy. Have mercy on yourself, and pull your mind out of the propaganda that is enslaving it. "Be merciful as your heavenly father is merciful." Jesus As one sows, so shall one reap. Sow wisely. This is the foundation of the teaching of Jesus.
Brian this is my 1st time viewing one of your videos. The title caught me, so I clicked to watch. You have nailed exactly the way I have been feeling for about a year now. You have expressed those feelings much better than I believe that I could myself. I am 100% in agreement with you. Thank you for stepping out and expressing those feelings. + Pax
Brian, thank you for sharing your vulnerability. We have a beautiful Church for sure. Many great Saints have suffered as you are now. You are in awesome company❤️🔥Praying for you and your continued journey. We are warriors. Sometimes we get battle weary, but our Lord is Faithful.
Thank you! I feel just as you do. I have been feeling isolated, especially when talking with coworkers. I feel great peace when praying in solitude, on detachment from the world. I hope that you see all of us out here who are with you as the mystical body of Christ.
God will be all right don't worry, we need mass for our path to sanctification, we can't make God more saintly with it but we certainly need it. Liturgy is not dogma it's a form for incorporating dogmatic teachings.
A mother has no need for the wild-flowers which her children find and bring to her. But the child has a need to give the flowers to it's mother. Those who would say that God does not care what "type" of worship we offer they are correct but they are also wrong. God has no need of the TLM. But we have a need to give Our God the greatest expression of our hearts desires. The TLM (well celebrated, of course) does that.
I am so with you. I speak as a Catholic organist who loves sacred music and the sacred aesthetic. I appreciate the formality of the faith which includes the sights, sounds, and smells. The initial impression and the aesthetic of my rural parish, which takes all of this very seriously, is what originally led to my conversion. Had I stumbled onto one of the “boomer” churches, I may very well not be Catholic. I realize the faith is so much more than these things, but these things open the door of one’s mind to a more heavenly reality. Thanks for your message.
I found this video expressive of many of my own thoughts and feelings, stating them more clearly than I have been able to myself and leading to more contemplation. I am member of a high church Anglican church where at least some of what happened and happens in the Catholic church also are to be seen and, along with having found myself, as you describe, opposed to the narrative, I came to be tormented by questions. And so it is with profound sincerity that I thank you for this frank, honest video. The Lord be with you, give you profound peace and guide and inspire you in these wicked days.
Bro, say the Rosary daily and do it in Latin. It brings you so close to Christ, and it makes all the political and subversive forces in the Magisterium quieter. It makes these corrosive voices so obvious and bland; it just bounces off. I’ve found hope and close connection with Christ through the Rosary. You’re in my prayers brother.
Exactly, October 7th, Our Lady of Victory aka Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, the destroyer of heresies (Arianism) by St. Dominic de Guzman, that the Holy Rosary is a formidable weapon to whip Satan! A battering ram! Daily! To grow in holiness, to live in state of grace, to meditate on 15 Mysteries!
I’m a Christian and I’m honestly curious; why do Catholics think the Rosary is necessary? Why not just speak to God directly and freely? He’s not just some god that needs rituals and specific prayers. He is our Father and loves to hear our pains and struggles, in plain English (or whatever your language is)
@@MyMusiqueLive The rosary is a sacramental, a type of meditation with prayers, not a ritual. In the Catholic churches two things which are sacraments (signs established by God to save mankind), and sacramentals (objects and actions which have the purpose to help christians to be fruitful). There is also some cases of what's called "private revelation" which may explain the rosary's spiritual nature further, but catholics are not required to believe them to be saved.
Brian, there is a prophecy from Ralph Martin going back to the late '70s where he was told that God would strip away everything, even the things that are good within the Church and the devotions and such so we have nothing to rely on but God alone. God Alone. And then we will have everything else in abundance. Maybe not material things, but love and family and most importantly, God will truly be first in our lives. Keep faithful.
Hebrews 12:25 See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, [i]much less will we escape who turn away from Him who warns us from heaven. 26 And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heaven.” 27 This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let’s [j]show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; 29 for our God is a consuming fire.." The shaking going on is causing us to penetrate God more deeply and more passionately, to redefine our core faith, refining our habits and behaviors ..to go against the flow makes us stronger and more effective in our walk in our Faith. Stay the course ... rooted and grounded in LOVE.. His for us and ours for Him and the world ,who is in great distress and darkness. Peace and Viva Cristo Rey.
Finally someone that is saying what I am thinking out loud! God bless you, you are not the only one. I am a Traditional Latin Catholic and I feel the same way as you, thank you for being open an honest about these issues across the board. Defend the TLM always!
This is the first time I've seen one of your videos and I have to say I'm very impressed. You are very articulate and have expressed exactly how I feel. Truth is what I desire most and that is what keeps me faithful. Thank you for posting.
My first time seeing you. We all struggle in our faith, especially in these times when the church seems to be letting us down. Stay true and keep God close to you and your family.
I can't even tell you how deeply I'm feeling every word you're saying and how many parallels you're digging into in my life! It's the liturgy, the politics, the education, everything to do with child raising, the prayers for a good husband now that I'm annulled from my abuser, the interaction among my own family, maintaining friendships... It's just everything! It's literally everything! It feels like the whole world is upside down! I can't thank you enough for this video! God bless you and your family!
I wanted to tell you that you expressed everything I am feeling. I too am tired and feel like I'm always being antagonistic. I love being Catholic and will never leave but you are right it is hard to defend sometimes especially with all of the ugly scandals. I found a parish that is within a fifteen minute drive that I love and that has been a blessing. I live one block away from another parish but unfortunately I don't feel the reverence and peace in that parish. God bless you for what you do. Thank you, your work is appreciated.
I am right there with you brother! I felt like I was listening to myself there. It's out of love for the most Holy Trinity and for what God deserves in reverence and beauty that keeps me centered in my desire to worship him with all my heart and soul in the Mass of Ages. This gets all the more difficult in trying to keep hope, unity, and joy in the home with the family to focus more on the beauty of our faith and less around the craziness of the world and church unfortunately. I'm expecting #8 in April so please folks say an Ave for my wife and baby. In JMJ- Francesco
I am such a Mediaeval Catholic that I am, also, a Monarchist. You can't imagine how isolating that is. Not even traditional Catholics understand the importance of Monarchy for a Christian society to flourish. There are two kinds of government -- Monarchy and Oligarchy.
I too was sick fighting or being an outcast, banal liturgy, leaving Mass without peace due to vapid homilies faithless celebrants/ activists. I became Orthodox at Pentecost. It was a journey that lasted 30 years. I can honestly say Orthodoxy has completed/ fulfilled my Catholic faith. I sincerely hope for the best for you in your struggle.
@@ShaNaNa242 indeed yes I agree 100% it is about doctrine. But since the content of the video was concentrated around liturgy, I limited my comments to that. I could speak about doctrine, but I do not wish to engage in arguments and points on the comments section of a Catholic channel from a person who I happen to respect. Plus I have to be heading to work in 30 mins. I’ll just leave this.. prayer=belief. If this is true, the Roman Church is far smaller than most Catholics realize.
No need to accept bad doctrine of the protestant Pope if you fulfill your faith with the actual original Church the holy apostolic Church orthodoxy , whether it be in Jerusalem, Antioch or Constantinople , and you wont have to deal with questionable Vatican councils, state supported evil doings and current financial and sexual allegations. Nice huh

Yeah, I am tired of the battling/struggling also. When Christ had enough and was tired, He would go off and get away. We must always recharge our batteries in small ways. Sometimes big ways. Blessings to you Brian and your family.
The way I think of it is this. The society is tilted. This means that everything that occurs is tilted too. It does not matter if it is overtly anti-Christian (burning churches etc.) or not (Covid). Because of the tilt, it tilts too, and the tilt is against Christianity. This is what makes living at the moment so tiring. We are constantly working uphill. All I can say is that every age has its trial, and this is ours. Your videos reach and help people around the world.
Whether celebrating Mass traditional or novus, Jesus is the same. Receive him while we still can. Seek Him while he may be found. Spend some time with Him at adoration. And keep the Faith.
I think that’s how a lot of us feel… I never really felt like I loved mass until I started attending TLM, that’s when I truly understood the beauty and the gift that the mass is.
Struggling...you are not kidding. You said what so many of us are feeling. Keep doing what you do, I am listening and it is so helpful to hear. God bless you!
Brian Holdsworth Don't give up the struggle, your fighting the good fight. Your videos have helped us to understand our own situations in the struggle in today's Church. Your Videos have borne good fruit. Your Videos are great, I think you would have made a good Bishop.
Beautiful reflection Brian! WHEN we come back to what fully the Fathers at Vat II intended we see a restoration, a new splendor; It is happening in this blessed struggle we are living in!! Praise be Jesus Christ
Brian we all struggle at a certain time. Don't worry you will overcome it. God bless you always!! I've sent some of your videos to my daughter and my sister and they were moved by your words. Greetings from Argentina!! Hang in please!!!!
I asked myself the same question when I was your age. You are not crazy. You are on a narrow road. I want to encourage you to avoid deviating from your path to go on the wide road. The wide road is easy, but it leads to a bad place.
EXACTLY! It's not about what we deserve or what we like. It's not even what will attract others to the Church. This is consumerist mentality. Our focus should be on what God deserves and He deserves our very very best.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I converted to the Catholic Church in the late 1990's and you have articulated exactly what I am going through also. I can't think of a single point or sentiment you didn't cover. You might be surprised to know that I have never been to a Tridentine Mass, yet feel I am where you are also. I guess though, that I have been blessed to have been at fairly solid Novus Ordo Masses and witnessed few clown masses. So, this is not brought on by your love of the Tridentine Mass alone. Like you I don't like what is happening in the secular world but am more shocked by what is going on within our Church that we can no longer run from but never seems to be addressed let alone acknowledged. It appears many in the Church, leaders included have embraced this secular plan and we are not all privy to it, but what's worse is our Shepards won't fill us in or tell us why we are wrong and need corse correction (if we really do.) I am reminded of St. Augustine's quote, " all truth is God's truth, and when one encounters truth, one encounters the God whose truth it is." I've surrendered to my Lord Jesus Christ and need my Shepards to address truth and stop talking around it. For me, I now have to focus on Jesus and rely upon my own understanding alone as it seems our shepards are struggling with teaching truth even it if hurts us or them.
I live in Southern California and while there is some amount of the boomer modernism in local parishes, it does not seem to be prevalent. Even the "mariachi mass" seems to follow a traditional structure outside of the music choice. The more traditional a service is, the more diversity you see in age as well as race, and the higher the attendance. One of the most crowded events of the year is Christmas midnight mass, which includes incense, choir, and lots of Latin. It's nice to see that even in somewhere as lost as California, modernist Christianity's contradictions are sorting themselves out. I think in more homogeneous places like Canada, you'll probably see modernism recede as boomers make up smaller and smaller shares of church membership.
This is me spot on! You are not crazy. It’s okay to doubt. The whole world is on fire and sometimes we feel like we are the sole fireman. My personal anxiety level is through the roof, but that anxiety has brought me to my knees more. Anxiety is not fun, but we can harness it to action.
I understand completely how you feel, I am glad I am not alone, and I love how you articulated your words better than my own thoughts. Sometimes you got to tune out the media even Catholic media. Love God first and to the fullest and your neighbor as yourself, stay close to the sacraments (especially communion), study the faith so you can uphold it, with that we'll "weather the storm". And as always God will prevail.
I'm not a historian of our Church but I get the sense that their have been crazy ideas in the Church that we had to fight against from day one. You have a place in this fight which is very valuable to us all. Your voice, is very close to many of our voices... Keep speaking out. Thanks
. I think all of us like minded Christians feel that way. You are definitely not alone. But, I understand the feeling. I wish I could give you a hug. You are valued and you are loved.
Even though you might not deserve the TLM (I agree, none of us do) ...but we do not have the mass for ourselves! It is a mindset shift, which often gets overlooked. The mass if what we offer to OUR BLESSED LORD! He deserves the most reverent mass we can offer to Him because it is a source of expression of our faith. Therefore, I do believe that we need to hold strong to the TLM even more!
When I saw the title of your talk I clicked on it right away. I can't tell you how much you posting this today meant to me and my husband. Everything you said in the beginning, summed up all we've been feeling and experiencing. It was almost like you were telling our story. When we share our hard times and struggles with others, we never truly realize how comforting and uplifting it can be for someone to hear that there are others going through the same thing. You took a day very close to despair for us and smashed it with HOPE!!!!! We prayed for this to come our way today, so thank you. God is so good!!!God bless you. Know you are not alone either!!!
Both my husband and I came into the Church in 2014. If it had not been for a parish that had both the Tridentine and reverent Novis Ordo Mass, I seriously doubt we would have converted. Love the Catholic Church!
Our Lord felt this during His public ministry. The meaning present in the small cross on His Sacred Heart. Can we expect anything less. But He had His Mother for consolation. Beauty is His reflection and the mass is His gift to us. 😇
Stay strong Brian.

Thanks.
Brian, YOU might not deserve the Traditional Mass, but GOD does. The mass isn’t about us, it’s about God. He deserves the best we have to offer Him.
Well said
Beautifully stated. "The mass isn't about us, it's about God. He deserves the best we have to offer him."
That's why we should defend and attend the traditional mass.
Amen, sister!
I was just going to write that same sentiment, but I liked your comment instead. You are absolutely right on! God deserves to be worshipped according to His revealed way of worshipping him. It is a matter of Justice to give God what is due to Him alone. To Him be the Glory+
Well said Donna!
Well said, Karen.

Good point.
Soldier on.
You have the mindset of a spiritual warrior and I like it.
But not just to pray and only receive sacraments. But we also must act and stand up for Christ and His True Teaçhings.
I’ve got to agree, if anything worry if your not struggling..
Deeply empathetic to your struggle, Brian, because it is OUR struggle. Sometimes we need to shut the ‘news’ out and focus on our little portion of the vineyard, which begins with our very self/soul. It is in these times that Christ calls us to trust.
Excellent comment, thank you. I can only control myself and need to focus on building those virtues I wish other’s had in myself.
Woody R You have come Home, you are loved.
The Ordinariate is a HUGE gift to the Church. I love it dearly!
Most of the things you listed are originally Catholic… like the architecture, the most beautiful CoE and Lutheran buildings are from before they split. But good for you for joining. We’ve survived heresies in the past, even the early Church, at points it seemed like the heretics had control of it all.
Just wanna say you're not alone. Literally 100% agree and share the same struggles.

Great quote! Never heard it before.
"The Cross is steady while the world turns." AMEN. How beautifully said. A word to our souls for sure... thank you.
Mmm powerful words you got there, "a Mass dedicated to God instead of dedicated to the people".

I’m a weird one. I’m excited it’s the world vs us. Thank God He deemed us worthy to live in this time
Doesn't that ignore Ephesians 6:12? For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
@Brian Farley But that doesn't make the same distinction made in Ephesians. Our fight is NOT against flesh and blood. It's against the principalities and powers who are permanently fallen. Humanity isn't considered in that category.
@Brian Farley Yes but it's not us vs the world as much as us versus evil. The world is only one manifestation and not even the most important.
"Thank God He deemed us worthy to live in this time"
I had a similar thought as well and I find it quite encouraging.
It makes me excited, but afraid. I might lose everything, my job, my family, my friends, but I gain a powerful faith and the undying love of God.

The Church’s response in providing beautiful architecture, traditional liturgy, powerful homilies and the discipline of the sacraments would naturally follow.

Moses committed mass murder...is that what you mean? Read the rest of the story...he turned into a homicidal maniac.
Amen! Such a great example to draw from.
@@TheRealShrike Good for him. It’s always a good thing to be enraged by what is evil.
@@joshuag.4873 Slaughtering ignorant people, many of whom are innocent, is not a moral strategy for a successful servant leader. It's probably a moot point, though, because many scholars, including Catholic scholars, believe Moses did not exist.
Join the club, Brian. You’re not the only one. The world has gone entirely insane. Just wish we had Church leaders were there to help the faithful.
Hence why I do clown planet shows
Brian, you have expressed what I am feeling these days as well. I’m exhausted and feel so alone these days. My only refuge has been the TLM which I consider God’s mercy in life. It is possible to stay the course but despair is real… may God’s Peace be with you. 🙏🏻
I've found that accepting loneliness in our battles can often bring a sense of comfort. Especially if we are connected to God and have his grace.
Brian, you don’t know how much I needed to hear this tonight. I will be praying for you and know that we are out here- feeling the same isolation and desiring to leave this earthly place. Offering our suffering as penance, complete submission to the Holy Will is our road now and goes against all things of the world.
You’re not crazy man, you definitely have a calm and collected sense of things and
I hope you find peace in the coming days.
Be not afraid!!! Become Catholic!!!

Thank you but I’m very content where I am at with my faith.
God Bless!
@@bretstanley8931 I’ll make a video and post it. Maybe I need to speak to some of these things if that is what God is asking of me.
You dont need the sacrament, you need Jesus.
Don't be ritualistic only...
Part of God permissive will is to know Him in the rightfully.
@@mrjeffjob charity. Remember charity when offering counsel.
🙏🏽
Just done. Blessings on you, your son and your friend 🙏
@@musicarroll well expressed and I hope you're right about that change!

Beautiful reflection....I will try to remember this. Thank you
I am totally with you Brian!
I'm struggling too. My chihuahua died last week and my mom unexpectedly in August. It's so hard I lived with them both
Thanks for sharing your struggle my dear friend, I will leave you with this quote from Scott Hahn.
The Mass
and I mean every single Mass,

Thank you for sharing! I was raised in the Catholic Church (and then left in high school) and always felt this way but found it difficult to articulate. I just recently - last week! - returned to the Church. Of course the first church that I attended was a TLM, it was beautiful.

15:00 YOU and I don't deserve the TLM, but GOD does. That's why we need to fight... not for our rite, but for GOD's rights.
God will be all right don't worry, we need mass for our path to sanctification, we can't make God more saintly with it but we certainly need it. Liturgy is not dogma it's a form for incorporating dogmatic teachings.
A sacred liturgy is God’s Will. That is enough to fight for it.
Fair point
Apostolado Petrine, I should have read the comments before making my own. All I did was unwittingly parrot you.
You bring it down to earth and you make it real! We all struggle and we need each other in support of these struggles!
In Latin 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Exactly, October 7th, Our Lady of Victory aka Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, the destroyer of heresies (Arianism) by St. Dominic de Guzman, that the Holy Rosary is a formidable weapon to whip Satan! A battering ram! Daily! To grow in holiness, to live in state of grace, to meditate on 15 Mysteries!
I do it in Spanish, is that any good?
Keep faithful.
joan62, I've found that in my life, He has stripped away these things.
Satanists are in charge.
Yes do not fear!
Relax accept God’s plan even if it is not yours.

We need to be stripped as He was. And after that the worse still comes. The nailing to the cross, the death. But we also know what came after that.
Agreed, democracy is a fallen state.
I mean, it's about doctrine, not about how pretty the liturgy or how good the homily is.
Such good advice that I'm taking it myself 🙂
This is a very relatable post and I really appreciate you being vulnerable about these struggles.

I asked myself the same question when I was your age. You are not crazy. You are on a narrow road. I want to encourage you to avoid deviating from your path to go on the wide road. The wide road is easy, but it leads to a bad place.
As a revert to the faith, I can strongly relate to the content of this podcast , I actually felt good after watching this video, God bless you Brian
Yes we don't deserve a beautiful liturgy, but our Lord does. Good video. You're definitely not alone.
I can understand how you feel man, in the faith and other aspects of daily life. I'll pray for you and you're struggle, please pray for us
I understand completely how you feel, I am glad I am not alone, and I love how you articulated your words better than my own thoughts.
Sometimes you got to tune out the media even Catholic media. Love God first and to the fullest and your neighbor as yourself, stay close to the sacraments (especially communion), study the faith so you can uphold it, with that we'll "weather the storm". And as always God will prevail.
That was class! Great clarity and resolution especially in terms of aesthetics. Bang on!
I'm not a historian of our Church but I get the sense that their have been crazy ideas in the Church that we had to fight against from day one. You have a place in this fight which is very valuable to us all. Your voice, is very close to many of our voices... Keep speaking out. Thanks
Please note how St Maximilian Kolbe celebrated mass in prison: it was still a means to grace...
I love what you’ve said Lisa, this meant so much for me too, although I am alone. Sometimes it’s so hard.
I wonder how you got this conviction. Even his mother and brothers did not believe in Him...
