Does your Wii have a digital out HDMI though? That is the great thing about the GameCube, it serves a direct digital out port. The Wii only had an anolog port. Unless you mod the system directly and cut the housing of the Wii, you can't have a true 480p hd signal.

Hi, I also, wondered this, but it seems that the game is patched on; well just before boot, everytime you 'Press A' to launch the game ISO from inside the SWISS menu, it seems SWISS does a quick patch and then runs the game, so as it appears to me, I don't think you can load the game and avoid the patch; each and every time you launch a game as far as I know, it has to be patched- it just has to be done; there's no way to avoid it happening in my experience; speaking from my own only, but please, please correct me if I am wrong or am not doing something right. My theory is though, is that the patch is used to trick the console and drive into thinking the game is being played optically, when in actuality it's being run off of an SD Memory Card? But yeah, please correct me if anything.
Just grabbed one of these fully ready to go no soldering etc so pretty nice addition to xenogc chip and SD gecko which I use for save games and Swiss booting
@@RockerGaming Randomizer is awesome, and has a great community, and a number of them also do cosmetic mods for the player model as well. I'm sort of a part of it myself, though I've mostly just been experimenting, I helped a little bit on the cosmetic side by finding a solution to modify the game's skeletal animation files (though that's still um... in the works, so not much can be expected in terms of custom animations yet). I've also looked into some of the coding stuff, using LagoLunatics previous work as a base. He was able to establish a way to modify the game's code via assembly. One goal of my own is to try and find a way to be able to reset back to Swiss from in the game, rather than having to hard reboot the console each time. I'm using the soft mod method so it takes quite a bit longer than booting back to swiss with a modchip.
And speaking of which, if I were to get this sd2sp2 thing working, would I be able to do it without any modchips in the gamecube? Wait so basically all you need is a GC with SP2, this adapter and a SD-card for your games, Swiss on a separate SD-card, and an AR-Disk? No further modding?
Hi, I'm just curious though, without a mod-chip and without an Action Replay or any optical disc of that nature inserted into the GameCube for that matter, are there any other ways to get SWISS to boot up from a Gecko SD Card or from an SD2SP2 slot? The reason I ask this is because: I do happen to have an Action Replay disc and I'm using the SWISS_r798 DOL on my SD Gecko, but if I ever lost the AR disc or it got broke, or my disc drive suddenly failed, other than this new ODE I'm hearing about, are there any other ways to boot into SWISS discless or will you be SOOL? As I don't have or want a mod-chip; not even as a backup, and also, I actually want to save my disc drive from wear everytime I turn it on and spin-up the Action Replay disc, I want to avoid wear on the laser FULL STOP if I can; if that's at all possible, I don't ever want to use my laser again; unless absolutely necessary.
@@J-S_93 there's a handful of other entry points other than an action replay disc. There's an entry point for Zelda Wind Waker, Twilight Princess in a handful of other GameCube titles. Damn these are dope! Are you going to be listing more?
I will. I just ordered more pcbs. Citrus3000psi has some in stock right now check out his website!
@@RockerGaming Awesome thanks!
My friend got me one for my birthday can’t wait to use it
The GameCube keeps getting all the goodies! Incredible
You know you're right and I love it, lol. Always excited for new mods, especially those for the GC!
It’s funny how the Xbox scene got so big... then it kinda died off. Now the GC scene is killing it. Fun times we live in.
It's really crazy. I will say the xbox pretty much has everything but a digital to digital hdmi mod, but I understand that is coming soon. You're more connected to that scene so you will have to let me know if that's correct
There are some things being teased on twitter!! I’m all up for some new mods to come out for sure. That will be fun. :)
I think im gonna sit back and watch how this further developes, i have a Softmodded Wii for all my Gamecube Needs so i'll wait for a reason for this Mod to hook me in.
Edit: To Clarify i want to wait until the compatibility of the games is at a 100 or even a 99 percent. I have heard that some of them have issues still
simple... better picture.
Does your Wii have a digital out HDMI though? That is the great thing about the GameCube, it serves a direct digital out port. The Wii only had an anolog port. Unless you mod the system directly and cut the housing of the Wii, you can't have a true 480p hd signal.
@@thrice26 yeah i just have one of those HDMI adapters that plug into the video cable Port 😅
@@warioexpert right on, but yeah it's not true digital signal port however. That's the plus about the GameCube, you can buy a gchd or insurrection plugin and you don't need to hard mod anything on the cube. The Wii you would.
@@thrice26 thats a good point, i was considering in getting the GC HD in the future, Now i'm gonna get it with this as well
@RockerGaming Do all games run flawlessly? I’m thinking about buying a GameCube that won’t read discs and using it for this mod. But will some games have glitches?
I would recommend this mod for that... this is the one to do that with ua-cam.com/video/iKXMIveMmYE/v-deo.html
RockerGaming you would recommend? Or you wouldn’t?
RockerGaming also... have you tested Twilight Princess or Metroid Prime on this SD card mod? Do those games run ok?
@@spikecomix6396 I wouldnt recommend this in your case as you will need the dvd drive to be able to run swiss
Unfortunately I have not tested either of those games with this particular mod.
This is pretty cool. Ima still gonna use my wii for usb loader gx though
Just ordered mine. Thanks for your work!
Glad you got one, thank you!
Nice mod, but honestly I am a Fan of the Wii and Wiiu Softmods. I am always amazed at your solder work with a camera in the way. I wonder if an access light could be soldered to the board and linked to a series of LED mods in the system.
Most folks do like the softmods they are generally easier to pull off, but this mod is extremely simple, assuming you have a mod chip in your GC already :) Im not sure about the access light, but dont see why that would be possible!
I appreciate the soldering comment! This one was hard to see for sure and I definitely bridged those pins on the leg as a result, lol
Got mines in the mail today 😌👌🏼
Wahoo! 🍾🍾🍾
I just set up my SD2SP2 and it's working, but I'm running into some lag with some FMV openings. The opening for Double Dash lagged a good amount, and Melee started stuttering until the video was a good 2-3 seconds behind the audio. Has anyone else run into this? I'm using the latest version of Swiss (v.0.5 r845) and I'm booting swiss off an action replay.
You might be able to disable audio streaming and it should help you. You can also use the same version of swiss as i used in the video and it might help you.
Sorry about that, quality assurance has been slipping lately. Try r856 (includes new streaming audio emulation as well, for other games than those mentioned).
@@ExtremsCorner thanks for commenting on this and the hard work on swiss. I saw you mention the update on twitter and it sounds very promising ill be checking it out soon!
Extrems' Corner Not a problem at all dude. Thanks for all you’ve done for the GameCube community. Booting through Swiss has been a revelation for preserving my collection, especially with prices skyrocketing.
Seems like a lot of work vs. buying a Wii for $25 and softmodding it and being able to do way more with it.
It seems this is becoming really popular , since this mod is incredible cheap on several websites
Hi! Are sub-folders supported on the SD2SP2?
Yes they are!
Thanks man!
It seemed easy enough, but the HDMI mod killed me. I think it would have gone better if the wire I used was solid instead of strand.
Anyways, I'm to lazy to do this one and I think its a far superior solution, so its worth the money.
Ordered mine yesterday.
Merry Christmas!
MK:DD still chugs like crazy using the most current version of Swiss, which is r827.
Thanks for showcasing that mof Ineas curious about! Great video!
Thank you sir! The GC is totally decked out at this point, its great!
This is amazing!
Thanks dude, I appreciate what you do too, thanks for dropping a comment!
Mine arrived in the mail today! Thank you!
fantastic, glad it made it safe and sound!
so in terms of loading speed and operation like FMV stuff etc. SD2SP2 isn't really faster than via the memory card bus using a gecko?
Not sure if this has been asked, but what's the max size microSD this works with? Thanks for shedding some light on this cool project!
No problem! I was using a 128gb card I want to say max is 256gb but I have not looked at it in a while.
@@RockerGaming Thanks!
No problem!
2 TB.
@@ExtremsCorner From the man himself, thanks Extrem's!
Hey man, saw a listing on eBay originating from China that used a video snapshot at 0:11 of you about to insert the SD2SP2 adapter to sell their own printed boards of them. That custom Metroid Prime 4 themed GameCube is pretty distinct, did they ask for your permission?
Hi, i have a question. Any time you select a game on the swiss menu, the game need be patched or is only the first time you select a game?
Hi,
I also, wondered this, but it seems that the game is patched on; well just before boot, everytime you 'Press A' to launch the game ISO from inside the SWISS menu, it seems SWISS does a quick patch and then runs the game, so as it appears to me, I don't think you can load the game and avoid the patch; each and every time you launch a game as far as I know, it has to be patched- it just has to be done; there's no way to avoid it happening in my experience; speaking from my own only, but please, please correct me if I am wrong or am not doing something right.
My theory is though, is that the patch is used to trick the console and drive into thinking the game is being played optically, when in actuality it's being run off of an SD Memory Card?
But yeah, please correct me if anything.
That's very nice..
I'm experience that problem with my🙁.. nice work 🙌
Thank you sir! I will have to get you one of these, I have one set aside for you!
Just grabbed one of these fully ready to go no soldering etc so pretty nice addition to xenogc chip and SD gecko which I use for save games and Swiss booting
Yeah im gonna need this immediately!!! I've been dying to play Wind Waker Randomizer on my actual gamecube instead of through Nintendont!
Heck yeah, that is a great idea! BTW, how is the randomizer, I have seen a lot of good feedback on it.
@@RockerGaming Randomizer is awesome, and has a great community, and a number of them also do cosmetic mods for the player model as well.
I'm sort of a part of it myself, though I've mostly just been experimenting, I helped a little bit on the cosmetic side by finding a solution to modify
the game's skeletal animation files (though that's still um... in the works, so not much can be expected in terms of custom animations yet).
I've also looked into some of the coding stuff, using LagoLunatics previous work as a base. He was able to establish a way to modify the game's
code via assembly. One goal of my own is to try and find a way to be able to reset back to Swiss from in the game, rather than having to hard reboot the
console each time. I'm using the soft mod method so it takes quite a bit longer than booting back to swiss with a modchip.
And speaking of which, if I were to get this sd2sp2 thing working, would I be able to do it without any modchips in the gamecube?
I believe you meant that any method of booting up the newer version of swiss (that can detect the sd cards in the sp2 slot) should
work, not just the modchip method, right?
Edit: Actually, I guess I don't have the Sp2 port? Does the DOL-101 gamecube build not have it?
@@codycero1 that's exactly what I was implying there are multiple ways to launch swiss (exploit on melee or wind waker, action replay, etc) mod chip is just the easiest. That's right the dol 101 stripped out sp2 and the digital port off the back
@@codycero1 also, that's for the comment on the randomizer... I really need to check that out asap!
Dude that GameCube is soooo boss! I will check out that vid!
Thanks homie much appreciated!
What's the maximum supported storage capacity on the SD2SP2?
2TB, too much space even 😂
@@RockerGaming Nice, do you also know the maximum read speed? Would it make a difference for the InGame loading times between a Micro SD Card that has 100 MB/Sek. reading speed and one that has 160 MB/Sek. reading speed?
@@KayJay_EU the max read speed isnt a sd card limitation so to speak. Its governed by the SPI bus on the GC which is 27 MHZ. Max speed that I've seen in practice is around 1.4 mbps. However it hovers around 900 kbps to 1 mbps most of the time
@@RockerGaming Thanks.
@@RockerGaming You're off by an order of magnitude.
So how does it work for games that have multiple discs? Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid?
i see you're using 128gb micro card to boot up Swiss along with GC tiles, how that? i'm using AR to boot Swiss via 2gb sd card max
I've burned swiss to a dvd-r and booting from there. You need a mod chip to do it my way but you save having to use an AR
I wondered the same thing. So is the cap still 32gb with this as well. Even though its in the serial port?
Cool video! This is the stuff I wish I knew how to do you!
Wait so basically all you need is a GC with SP2, this adapter and a SD-card for your games, Swiss on a separate SD-card, and an AR-Disk? No further modding?
Yes sir!
Hi,
I'm just curious though, without a mod-chip and without an Action Replay or any optical disc of that nature inserted into the GameCube for that matter, are there any other ways to get SWISS to boot up from a Gecko SD Card or from an SD2SP2 slot?
The reason I ask this is because:
I do happen to have an Action Replay disc and I'm using the SWISS_r798 DOL on my SD Gecko, but if I ever lost the AR disc or it got broke, or my disc drive suddenly failed, other than this new ODE I'm hearing about, are there any other ways to boot into SWISS discless or will you be SOOL?
As I don't have or want a mod-chip; not even as a backup, and also, I actually want to save my disc drive from wear everytime I turn it on and spin-up the Action Replay disc, I want to avoid wear on the laser FULL STOP if I can; if that's at all possible, I don't ever want to use my laser again; unless absolutely necessary.
@@J-S_93 there's a handful of other entry points other than an action replay disc. There's an entry point for Zelda Wind Waker, Twilight Princess in a handful of other GameCube titles. You'll need to obtain a hacked save states and install it on a GameCube memory card using gcmm which is a Wii Homebrew utility
@@J-S_93 without at least one game or utility booting from the disk drive, you'll need a mod chip. But there are a handful of titles now other than the action replay or Phantasy Star Online
@@andrewober Hi, thanks for sharing that with me - that was my fear. I'm just thinking about the future as eventually, most; or almost every single unit out there, at some point, will have its laser / drive fail and how will we use the thing to play our backup games then. :( - of course, I get that there's emulation, but there's something special about playing on the official hardware that I've had and kept prestine since I was a kid. Replacement drives are expensive as well, and a replacement console will probably be our only option, but eventually there won't be any replacement consoles left out there either, which is when, whatever is left will be extortionately high.
What kind of screws do you use if you want to replace rusted gamecube controller screws?
as long as you can insert the gameboy player on that would make it perfect
GB Player fits back on there no problem :)
I wanna do this, but I still haven't gotten a XenoGC modchip on my gamecube yet.. and I can't find liquid flux around here either >.
Make it happen! You dont need the liquid no clean flux for that mod, but it is nice!
@@RockerGaming yeah, I also want the flux for my GC controllers, I bought myself a clear back for some underglow but I really dont wanna mess up the insides. I also bought some Paracord for the cable and still haven't done that
Dude make it happen! Time for some controller love!
Hey ,your work have save my game cube collection , but question can buy a SPchip already put together? I wish I could solder but my hands aren't that great
have you installed green or yellow LED's in your Samus gamecube yet?
Will any craft beer work or does it have to be IPA? ;)
Haha preferably an extra hoppy beer!
Ok so for this mod it seems like you'll need a boot launcher disk or get a xeno gc chip to mod and burn your own boot disk? And it seems like that mod already has swiss install just need a boot launcher disk right?
And how about playing Gameboy games on sd without that bottom attachment
With a xeno and sdsp2 you don’t have to burn a disc? It can load from the sdsp directly?
One question.I have a Game Cube with PicoBoot and Sd2sp, can i do a reset to the swiss menu in combination with an memory card sd adapter ?
Mario Kart was the first thing I tested as well. Still need to see if LAN multiplayer works now on it via memcard/sd2sp2 . Have to mod another disc drive to test between 2 cubes.
Ross, please let me know what you find. I wouldnt mind making a follow-up video to this which shows homebrew and a few other things and a nugget like that would be great to include!
@@RockerGaming tested today between 2 gamecubes running Mario kart via sdgecko and sp2sd. It's working!!! It was only 1 vs 1 but according to old compatibility list lan mode wouldn't even start.
Maybe a dumb question. Does Swiss require some kind of disc to run?
Is there any way to purchase everything already assembled to just like plug in and play? Instead of soldering stuff etc etc?
I personally spoke to Citrus, and he told me that sub-folders are OK for SWISS!
So if I buy this already souldered chip from you and then get the zeno chip and soulder that to the motherboard, install the correct stuff on the SD card I should be good to go?
I was wondering, hypothetically, would it be possible to make a 3rd party GC controller that has buttons that feel like a different plastic get modded to feel like a normal GC controller, and also be able to get rid of the slow and turbo buttons?
I am sure it would be, but my retort would be why not just get an OEM gc controller. What 3rd party controller were you thinking about?
@@RockerGaming Im not sure, I just have one in my room and I was wondering if it was possible. Thanks!
So if I'm currently using datels sd loader/ sdhc in my 2nd mem card slot I can move the sdcard to the sd2sp2 on the bottom and free up the mem card slot 2 and have this stealthy part run off the bottom serial instead?
Hey, do you need a disc to launch swiss on the sp2sd2 when you have a modchip? Please answer quickly.
Can't wait for the restock
Should have more this week!
can You do a video on casting the actual shells of controllers?
Yes, it is in the works :)
Would love to see that!
So if I don’t have access to soldering tools, can I use a datel media launcher instead???
If I have an updated Swiss Disc, a XenoGC, and an SD2SP2, and put my nkit.iso files in the root directory of the microSD card, does it automatically know to look on the microSD card for my files on boot, like I see in this video?
I have a Pal disc for my EU GC and this adapter. But how can my GC Boot from the disc? I always get the ‚no cd‘ inserted..
I wonder if its possible to make a plastic attachment like for the orther serial portsusing this board.
If I already have the action replay and SD to memory card adapter is there any reason to get this apart from freeing up a memory card slot?
i see your SD2SP2 is version 1.1 - is it worth getting the 2.0 one? i cant find any info on it
Does Xeno and SD2SP2 are enough to run ISOs from Micro SD card or do I need something else?
Hey,
I know the video is already one year old, but I really like the style of your GC. Any hint where I could find the parts for a shell replacement or did you spray them by yourself?
Yo dude, thank you! The paint was put on there by a very talented artist named pucho magic. I actually have a video dedicated to its build here if you want to check it out ua-cam.com/video/Yl1-Wu--FDs/v-deo.html

What Gerber file is best to send to pcbway?
Its listed on Dan's Github you should be able to find it there 😁
Is running GC ISO's off this mod on a Gamecube technically emulation? What I mean is, if a game has minor issues when running through an emulator on PC, will running the ISO on this not cause those issues since it is the correct hardware?
Donde puedo conseguirlo?
So dont have to open the Gamecube just plug this in the serial port and go ?
Will this work with an action replay or does it need to be a modded Gamecube?
