If you want to trigger MIDI drums based on an analog signal, G8 is the best tool out there for this. Great tracking, super fast response (literally zero latency). The triggered note is based on the parameters you set up for the gate so you have a ton of control. Only limit is that G8 does not support velocity. If velocity is needed, AudioFront DSP Trigger is the best choice. Amazingly low latency (about 2ms).
Bass Mint is really handy for mixing bass guitar. You also didn’t mention the main feature of Tails - it has transient detection to automatically filter out them out from the reverb so it doesn’t “smear” the same way other reverbs do with sounds with a sharp attack
UNFILTERED AUDIO IS GOD. I don't own all their plugins. Yet. But I will. I love Byome, Lion, Silo, Needlepoint and Battalion beyond words. Lion is just so crazy and angry sounding. Needlepoint is the best sounding Vinal emulation ever. Ever! It's also a fantastic OTT type compressor as well, as you can turn off all the record sounds and filters
Wow, just snagged Bass-mint, loving it so far. With Plugin Alliance, you definitely have to watch for sales. Bass-mint is $149 US normally, but I just got it for 19.99. Thanks for the tip, these are some nice modern plugins!
Absolutely one of the best plugin companies out today. I cant get over Needlepoint. No other vinyl simulation comes close. Spec Ops is absolutely bonkers. Zip might be one of the most flexible compressors ever made. Everything I've tried from them knocks it out of the park. Still don't have Lion or Byome, but maybe someday...
I’ve come to appreciate all-in-one Swiss Army style tools like Fred Anton Corvest’s “Punchlab” for quickly making the adjustments I need now. Can’t go back to the one function plugins of the past.
I have a few from Plugin Alliance sales that I really should check out more. I am especially interested in Bass Mint and Sandman Pro. Thx for reminding me to check them out further.
Just checked PA’s web site now and most Unfiltered Audio plugins are on sale, several for *US$ 9.99* each: G8, Zip, Dent 2, Fault, Indent 2, Instant Delay, Sandman, Sandman Pro, SpecOps. Great value for several others too, including TAILS, SILO, BYOME and LION, for *US$ 29.99 each* (Bass Mint for US$ 19.99). I think that only Batallion is at its full price right now. Good chance to get them. Cheers!
Great vid! In my opinion all Unfiltered Audio stuff is top notch. Ideas for future videos: TAILS, exploring the double-buffer feature; LION; SILO. And Battalion has enough in it for a bunch of videos! Cheers.
these look really cool, thinking about picking up that multi effects plugin since they are all on sale at PA right now. but does triad do anything i cant already do with the bitwig stock stuff
This is a great and useful video. I am a big fan of Byome but wasn't really aware that they made so many great plugins. So now I am looking at Sandman Pro and Fault, both extremely low priced. Thanks Alex, great video!
Even after 5 minutes of playing with Sandman Pro I already know that this will become one of my staple delays AND (!) reverbs. Having all these modulation options is crazy. One can do crazy stuff of course but it's also great for subtle things. Again... Thanks Alex for this useful and informative video! 😙
Oh man do I love Unfiltered Audio. Battalion is the best drum synth vst I've used and I've had quite a few lol. Lion is so fun, Byome is crazy powerful and Silo makes some killer Granular fx and Reverb. Recently got SpecOps for added weirdness and frequency manipulation and it works great
@@jenstornell Need to check out more of their stuff. Was using CramIt for a while but I've gotten pretty fond of the Xfer Ott and Minimals Squash for straightforward OTT stuff
Can't tell about the others but I tried Battalion and I uninstalled it one hour later. Not a big fan, takes too much time to get the results I'm looking for, countless parameters. Reminds me drum computer from Sugar bytes. The all random parameter is a great option though. This is the kind of drum machine I would use to design only one occasionnal sound, not a whole kit, because I'm not Richard Devine... Sometimes the GUI doesn't click ! It's personal ofc. However I'd rather throw carefully selected foley and other percussive stuff in a drum rack, throw FX and modulation. It works better for me because like mic placements in a studio my initial sound source is already suitable. Their multi-fx tools look interesting, need to check if there is a demo. Great video as usual, thanks for sharing, you made me discover a lot of plugins I never heard about in your other videos.
Glad you liked the video. I see Battalion as a fun device, I also haven't used it in many musical contexts but it's great to experiment with percussive ideas
To be honest, I think 80% of the plugins I use are Unfiltered Audio. Their plugins are like their creators: generous, different, wide and wild! The best brand for sure!
Love Bassmint, Byome (I should use Triad, but the multiband makes it slower to get where I want to go - sometimes switch the settings to Triad after setting up Byome, but more often stay in Byome!), G8, Sandman, SpecOps, Zip in particular, but they're almost all good. I've only ever been disappointed by one, LION. I thought Byome FX inside a synth would be an easy win, but it's a weirdly vibeless instrument.
Hey sorry for the crash. I assume this was on Mac? There was an OS update after release that caused this when you open the settings menu. It's been fixed and is pending release.
Btw 150 $ for one plugin ( I know there are sales) is insane. WHy would you spend 1/3 of an ableton license (or bitwig) for one virtual instrument. The Daw by itself offers 1000 times more features
@@balbibou I guess that's Battalion, right? I agree, dunno how much of Plugin Alliance infuenced their business model, but they often make high prices and then crazy sales, except for the newer plugins
still the old same boring mask.. no ideas like putting some color on it or graffitti? or maybe another mask? I mean it is your decision...however, I prefer no black mask looking like bank robbery to be honest lol
I have a ton of unfiltered audio plugins!!!! I needed this today! Thank you Alex!
Happy to help!
I forget if you ever covered Glitchmachines before, but I would include them as an underrated developer.
@@DerekPower Definetly on my list

Shhhhhhhhhhh
👀
@@DerekPower Plugin Boutique always has them super cheap too. Got the entire plugin selection besides the brand new Skien for $40 tops

The Vinyl and Digital-Lo-Fi-zer is fantastic, and the Spectral. And version of Bass Mint, (so many variations of these).
Plugin alliance is one of the only subscriptions i think is worth it, and unfiltered audio is a big part of that

Yeah that's right. I find it funny when they release plugins at $450 lol. Vut still, very good value for money when on sale

Their Dent 2 is a great distortion sounds authentically like analog mixer gain distortion.
