    one of the reasons why the downtown link was delayed was due to the steps on the passenger coaches. if you notice, the shuttle train’s steps are much more flush to the coaches, rather than the older coaches that have more protruding steps

      Brightline also changed their PTC system during the pandemic when they weren’t operating. Tri-Rail also had to wait for permission from the FEC to even run test trains on their portion of the line.

    I'm glad that they have this option available to people now but I think it will really take off when they offer one seat rides. Hopefully Tri-Rail can update their equipment that will allow more train sets into downtown Miami. Maybe they can make use of some Stadler DMU rolling stock. At least if someone misses their transfer shuttle, they also have MetroRail available.

    Thanks for this! I live in Delray and fly out of MIA a lot and always take TriRail to the MIA station. But I also cruise a lot out of PortMiami and have always taken the train to the MIA station and then a Lyft from there, which costs about $20-25. Next week I have a cruise and this will be the first time I can go to MiamiCentral instead, which will leave me just 2 miles from the cruise terminal and (hopefully) a much cheaper Lyft ride. BTW a few people probably mentioned it but the reason this messed you up at first was because there's only one northbound and one southbound track at each station. So whether you're going north or south you will always get off one train and wait on the same platform for the next one to come up from behind. That is, until they launch direct service. Thing that I don't get is how the woman missed the connection. They are timed to come up 5 minutes later. If the mainline train is late pulling in, I don't understand why TriRail would send an empty shuttle to MiamiCentral knowing a train is approaching with the next one probably not being for another hour. One would think they'd hold the shuttle until the train arrived.

    Great video. I don’t know how the Tri-Rail service to downtown Miami is any better than metro rail from the transfer station. Metro rail runs much more frequently so if you missed your connection, there’s another train usually in another 10 minutes. I can see with the one seat solution this being better service, but then there will be fewer trains to points south of the transfer station. I sometimes go to Hialeah market station because there’s not enough parking at the transfer station on 79th St.

    As a new floridian..it makes no sence to have a diffent fare system on the weekends for the tri rail. If im going on a 1 way trip it makes no sence to buy a $5 ticket. Yea i know it isnt much money and its only a good value for people going round trip but if your ticket is less than $5 i feel like im paying more then i should. Most rail systems in the USA have 1 pay structure for 7 days of the week and not one for the week and one for the weekend..in the beginning it was confusing af. And to also add the trains are old and dated and seemed as if the AC didnt even work. And unlike other systems like caltrain in the bay area in CA they have a no alcohol rule on the trains when federally trains are except from that rule.

  • @ELAlcoRS3
    @ELAlcoRS3 Рік тому +1

    Thank you, great video. I think everyone can agree more signage (and better communication) is needed. Although this is supposed to be a two week trial so I'm sure they'll be making more changes. In the Brightline station, on the 2nd floor there are pair escalators up to the Tri-rail platform (they used to be closed). Do you know if they've opened them up now? I'd imagine you'd have to walk North on the Tri-rail platform not South as you did to access it. If this is the case, you could get off a Brightline train, take those escalators up to Tri-rail, walk the platform to the South end to access the Metrorail pedestrian bridge.
    The other Brightline waiting room is a mystery until I thought about it for a while... BL is using 4 car trains now, soon to be 7 and finally up to 10. With trains that long a second waiting room could be used to access those long BL trains. This way passengers won't have to walk 7 car lengths down the platform. I'm just speculating of course but it makes sense. Some sort of internal connection between the North and South waiting areas might be coming too.

    Until they start running a direct Service into Central Station I really don't see the point in that service. If you have to transfer anyways, why not change to a green line Metrorail? They come much more frequent, are probably more reliable and stop at much more stations within in downtown, thus making more destinations available. Trip Time ist exactly identical at 20 minutes each. IMO this service is nearly useless until it becomes a one-seat-ride from West Palm Beach. Hope they get the two line service running very soon.

      The green line metro on the weekends is unreliable. I have had to wait 30 minutes, sometimes even longer for a metro to arrive. It's a painful wait. Once the metro arrives, it's another 30 minutes to arrive at downtown. You've wasted an hour at that point.
      The Tri-Rail shuttle is a great option because you board 5 minutes after exiting the train. But yes, direct trains to downtown will be the best option but saying the metrorail is frequent and reliable is not true.

    I took the tri rail on sunday from the pompano station thinking it would go straight to miami central. Wrong. It stopped at the tri rail/metro rail transfer station where i had to buy a ticket for the metro rail to the government center station so i could get on the metro mover. I asked the people in the kiosk about miami Central, and they had no idea what i was talking about. Very confusing.

    Why isn’t it a single train ride? Why do you have to transfer?

    I wonder what is the difference in time taking the new TriRail shuttle to Grand Central Station or taking the metro train at the same station to the same Grand Central Station?

    • @JoelFrancoVlogs
      @JoelFrancoVlogs  Рік тому

      Well the Tri-Rail shuttle train goes directly to MiamiCentral from Hialeah. The Metrorail has 9 stops before reaching Government Center so I’d say the shuttle. However, Metrorail runs more frequent

      Nope, take Metrorail orange line from Government Center

    • @crazydudetz
      @crazydudetz Рік тому +1

      On the weekends, the orange line to the Miami International Airport does not run. They only run on weekdays. So if you fly out or arrive on a weekend, there's no metrorail option. Instead, there's a bus shuttle that takes you from the airport to the Earlington Heights station and from there you take the green line.

    This system makes no sense. Tri-Rail arrives at the Metrorail transfer station. You now have two options. Go up to the Metrorail platform and take Metrorail downtown to the same area next to the Brightline Station. Or wait at Platform 2 at the Tri-Rail station and take the Tri-Rail shuttle to the Brightline station downtown. Two rail systems going to the same destination from the same originating station. And it took 7 additional years to make this happen from it's original proposed inauguration date. Only in South Florida could such a miss-mash be created. It's really embarrassing.

    If the trains drive and leave from track 2 why is there a shuttle and not just use one train 🤔 you would think the central train station would want to run trains to the airport lol

    • @crazydudetz
      @crazydudetz Рік тому

      The bridge is kind of dumb, you can just take a left at the Starbucks and walk a few yards to get onto Wilke D. Ferguson MetroMover station and take that directly to Government Center. I don't know why anyone would take the bridge.
