Important Update - New Firmware Fixes HAM For CE Users With the release of the new firmware V01.00.0300 for the Avata 2 DJI have fixed the HAM file behavior in the CE region. Now the ham file behaves as it did with the Avata 1 and O3, It gives FCC power, FCC Speed and full Manual Channel Selection. There is no longer any need to purchase any 3rd party apps for the full FCC mode in CE regions. Where I show in this video that there are 4 modes that is now incorrect and there are just the original 3 that are CE Mode, FCC Mode and Ham Mode. I have created a new chart that is linked below on my Wiki and I will be making an updated video in due course. fpvwiki.co.uk/dji-goggles-3
Today was the first time I had a closer look into your fpvwiki. This is fpv platinum! Everything in there, and what a great clear overview! Thank you so much Ian!
Weird, I added the Ham file to my newly aquired avata 2, it did unlock the manual selection but i cant make it go any faster than 60km/h, anyone else tried it? EDIT : turns out i needed to format the sd card, can confirm speed unlock and extra range
One thing is that I was using the Avata 2 to fly indoors in normal mode too and now after adding the Ham file the GPS signal is way too weak / non existent to keep it in one place unless I am right next to a window... This is pretty sad for me as I am using it to film real estate (super slow, dont want to do it manual) as well as speedy manual fun outdoors. Does anyone else experience this difference in GPS signal?
What I like most about what you do Ian is that you interact with your followers. We all have burning questions and you take the time to offer answers. I like that a lot. Also thanks for this update - I'll be doing it today and look forward to a bit more RF. I'm in the UK. Lee
The biggest benefit is the full power of the motors and you can check it easy with motor power output. Without the hack you must stay around 50% throttle to hover in manual mode. In Ham you only need 20%. Thats the easiest way to check If the ham file work!
Thanks you so much for this video. Unfortunately for some reason it has not worked on my avata 2. Do you have any idea what the reason could be? New updates blocking it maybe?
Thank you so much for the info. CE mode is even dangerous when coming from FPV because the Avata 2 ascending speed is less than 1/3 than its horizontal speed, the balance between the two speed domains is broken. FCC mode restores that !
The range and penetration for mid range flying is absolutely phenomenal. I live in a small town with 3000 people, right in the middle of it and while laying in bed I can fly a full circle around my self, being 1500 meters away. As long as I stay above 30 meters or so. Except for a bunch of spots where the signal has to travel through less buidings. There is a school 600 meter from my house and I can be down to 7 or 8 meter and still have 3 mbit left. As a matter of fact, I have done some 100 flights while laying on my bed and there where plenty of occassions where the video quality went down a lot and the bitrate went to 1 mbit but I have not lost signal a single time. I usually just fly straight up when bitrate down down to much. The Goggles 3 and avata 2 is the ultimate fpv-noob-who-never-wants-to-worry-about-anything flying experience.
Wauw! This works amazingly well. Normally when I fly behind some trees that are like 80 meters away from me, I always get picture loss. Now, with that file installed, it's just normal picture. It's so much better at distance and with penetration through buildings. Thank you Mads Tech!!

Bam, instant improvement, signal does not below 50mb, before it was down to 15. Auto is still locked as you explain. Since O4 nature seems to be very dynamic, it would be very interesting: 1. Does the ham cfg hack increases the power all the time no matter the current link quality or only if it is needed, i.e. when the aircraft is away, just like mobile phones work? 2. Does it noticeable affect the battery life? 3. Does it increase the drone temperature?

TYSM for this video! I recently purchased the avata 2 and I live in a CE region. Do you know if the SD card must remain in the goggles for this to work?
I guess the ham file thing is a backdoor left from DJI firmware developers to be used by technicians performing service on drones so they could overcome restrictions and properly test the drone no matter where they are globally. Am I right on this Ian? 🤔
Ok, done everything as You said, Thank You👍👍👍 I did that with controller 3, So now if I want this hack to work also with my lovetoy, do I have to power off everything, and turn on again but this time with motion controller3 (lovetoy3)?
Do you think it’s even worth doing this considering Andy Kirby’s test showing the even in ce mode the avata 2 has similar penetration to fcc due to the o4 system, so Andy suggested there is no speed limit in ce mode on his drone, is the speed limit applied in the uk? Andy claims it isn’t
Range tests are complicated. It’s also not known if Andy was actually properly going an into ce mode as I have showed it’s possible to have FCC power with CE behaviour with the ham file. The simple realty is this. ham file and FCC is capable upto 1600mw. That’s a substantial increase in power and it’s open air real world use it’s going to have an effect. In some scenario it may be less noticeable as they have been able to improve CE with the 5.2Ghz mode however it will still help.
@@KnizzleHizzle ok, I heard somewhere if you have a ham radio licence you could, but looking into that it seems to complicated simply for this purpose anyway
Fantastic video. Just done the Ham Hack and it worked perfectly. I can also now change the channel settings to which I wasn't able to do before. The only one thing that I have found is that I don't have the 5.2G band, I only have the 4.2G and 5.8G. Is this normal? Also what band and settings would you recommend on using? I'm in the UK as well, so I'm in CE mode. Thanks for the great video
After i added the ham file my signals are better. However, easy acro in N mode does not function. I can select easy acro and also select what acro i want to do, but the stick does not respond. It did work before i added the ham file. O and my avata 2 is FCC and not CE.
So if I'm in CE region, and already have DroneTweaks app - should I also put Ham file in googles for full manual channel selection? I wouldn't want both solutions to conflict with each other.
When do think if at all will manual selection be worthwhile/needed to choose FCC+Ham instwad of CE+HAM? For performance reasons during power loops etc. or perhaps in known enviornments where one will penetrate better more reliably in heavy congested area or perhaps mainly long range on flatland, instead of Auto mode? Or is Auto mode good enogh if not better with how well it switches between 2.4/5.8 and also able to use tri band and therefore fcc hack is not really needed/beneficial? Andy Kirby made some good test demonstration where CE auto mode was either performaning same or superior at times as it seems. 🔥🔥🔥

As for Auto vs manual there are situations where Auto will be better and others where you really need to force it onto a specific channel to avoid it affecting other devices. Auto will be best for most users.
Yeah Like your thorough review / testing, appreciate the reply. Could you kindly explain in what situation manual would be preferable / beneficial? I also realise there is a difference in the performance during flight characteristics / interference or obstacles during the flight journey and finally at max distance, not easy to stress test everything i guess, the max distance being the easiest and tbh. (Btw. Bit surprised I haven't seen the max distance tests done with simply switching at the max distance location and comparing at different heights to take VLOS into consideration. That's what I tested last weekend and at first glance didn't see a huge difference).
with CA in europe my drone looses signal at 350 meters, and DJI says that i have to send drone for checking. or its ok with CA that it looses signal on 350 meters

Well, it seem not only for avata 2. My avata 1 with goggle v2 got impact. last time I did just connect the drone, motion controller and goggle to DJI Fly APP, then the update occur automatically. after that I try to do FCC hack but the manual menu become disable (Grey) thank for your explanation
Hi Ian, great video and explanation. QQ, not directly ham file related - is top speed only available in manual mode? I’ve been a drone pilot for many years, but never dipped into FPV. I bought the Avata 2 to dip my toes, but I don’t have the time to get to a place where I’d be comfortable in full manual mode, but I’d like more speed!
I've been searching through the comments for questions regarding benefits of choosing your own channels. I'm pretty new to FPV and it's hard to tell if choosing my own channel is good and in what way it would affect the drone. Is staying on auto best after all or why was it a good thing that more channels opened up?
Excellent video. Slightly of subject but does the ham file still work on the goggles 2 with the 03 the same as it always did. Really appreciate all your videos Ian. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Hi .. i fly avata2 with Integra goggles and fpv controller 2 .. i use ham file in goggles.. i have 3 channels in transmission.. but i have 16mbps transmission ..whether the drone was at a distance of 1 meter or 1000 meters.. the mbps was constantly 16
very good overview and explanation Mads, just one question regarding the ham file, do we need this file all the time on the SD card in goggles or it can be removed ? I mean is this file read/loaded only once and then it is valid until we reconnect the drone to DJI app or update the firmware... ? I am asking because it is good to know if one can format SD card each time prior flying or we can not do so if the ham file needs to stay on the SD card all the time in such a case I can only delete/empty video file folder ... thank you in advance!
so my understanding is that the ham file is working just fine on the avata 2. But firstly does this works just as well with the goggles 2 and fpv rc 2? And also does this ham file workaround voids the care refresh plan?
how do you store the ham file on mac? I used Text Edit. Also I see if you dont update goggles 3 , just the quad and RC the Ham file is working. I have the Avata 1 and the FPV, It seems to work avata better range than FPV drone
How do you do this for both the controllers? Do you just power up the Goggles then the one controller and then the drone and then turn them all off and do the same again but using the other controller or is it once you've done it the first time you can't then make it work with the second controller? Oh and also how did anyone ever find this hack out? Thanks.
Thanks for this work ! 🤩 If I think… I just need create file ham_cfg_support Import in SD CARD Googles and turn on googles in first, Rc, and drone ? It’s ok ? :)
This is the only solid, comprehensive and consistent information I found about this whole thing - great content, thank you!! Now, the results I got were not that conclusive to me, still interesting to observe... here it goes: (and no, radio is not my area, I'm just a curious guy trying to understand it and play) 1) still in original CE mode, I have asked a relative to walk the street with the avata 2 on hands doing zig-zag on the blocks while I was on the balcony with the goggles: when turned the first right, signal degraded drastically as expected, but still working; and it went dark when she turned the next left - so 2 turns on the zig-zag of city blocks, with massive concrete buildings between goggles and drone, were enough to kill the signal completely - honestly, I didn't expect to be better. 2) applied the ham file in CE mode (expecting a wow result due to drastic dbm difference), and the same exercise as above: again signal degraded drastically after first turn, but it didn't go dark after the second turn, it instead kept a poor quality video at 1Mbps for much longer, could even reach the third turn. Does it make any sense? Did the ham file actually work or I was "luckier" with the second try? Seems like the quality and bitrate between the devices degraded at the same rate, even though the ham'ed try kept the poor 1Mbps past the dark point of the un-ham'ed try for another block.
You have to arm the quad. When it´s not armed, the transmitter is allways in Low Power mode. Anyway, the Ham file dosent work on my unit. Only the drone-tweaks app
I've just tried to apply the ham file hack to my avata 2 , is there an easy way to see of it has worked for me besides flying the drone ? I was expecting to see in the googles transmission rates of 50mbs but are only seeing 20 ? If I go into transmission the googles still show auto and manual mode for channels, does this tell me if the hack has worked or not ? I've rebooted both drone and googles, appreciate if somebody could advise thanks

It's nice that you shared this info. People will not waste money of stupid mods scams
thanks for everythiinh i but one question. when format the card in the googles i get inside the card 2 folders 1 dcim and 1 misc (with subfolders in it) where exactly i place the file. pls help
It just goes onto the root directory. Not in a folder

TYSM for this video! I recently purchased the avata 2 and I live in a CE region. Do you know if the SD card must remain in the goggles for this to work?
Did you find out?
I still keep the sd card in 😂@@japanesecactus
I guess the ham file thing is a backdoor left from DJI firmware developers to be used by technicians performing service on drones so they could overcome restrictions and properly test the drone no matter where they are globally.
Am I right on this Ian? 🤔
Ok, done everything as You said, Thank You👍👍👍
I did that with controller 3, So now if I want this hack to work also with my lovetoy, do I have to power off everything, and turn on again but this time with motion controller3 (lovetoy3)?
@@MadRC ok thanks 🙏 what’s required to legally use the ham file?
there is no way to use it legally.
@@KnizzleHizzle ok, I heard somewhere if you have a ham radio licence you could, but looking into that it seems to complicated simply for this purpose anyway

Thanks for this - will the CE Ham mode work with the RC2 as well.
Does the modification in CE work with the latest DJI goggle firmware?
Ya
What do you use for Mac, is it TextEdit??
After i added the ham file my signals are better. However, easy acro in N mode does not function. I can select easy acro and also select what acro i want to do, but the stick does not respond. It did work before i added the ham file. O and my avata 2 is FCC and not CE.
Pretty interesting indeed! Thanks, Ian! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Is it worth doing this if you live in China. A quick search seems that China has their own version of FCC and CE but it’s already very similar to FCC.
Well done, is there a way to bypass the (slow)-motion-controller speed limit (which is ridiculous?)

Great work Ian. I have created the file using notepad++ and have done everything as you said……a number of times.. Still no change though to top speed or anything else. I am in Spain so a CE region. Any thoughts?
Tell us more details plz, e.g. do you test with RC3 in manual mode?
@@berniepb3075 Hi. Thanks for replying. I have test with both controllers and I get the same speed restrictions in normal and sport. I go to the settings and set to max speed. I have not tried Manual mode because……I am too scared at the moment!!!! I have had a few drones but never fpv. If I get some altitude and change to manual and it all goes wrong, do you know if I can flip back to sport or manual and the drone will recover? If so, happy to give it a go
@@Glenn-Reviewsyou only unlock the speed limit when using manual mode. So you should learn how to fly manual :D when using the Motion Controller or normal mode and Sport mode on fpv Controller 3 you dont benefit from the hack
@@Mojo97779 hi. Thanks. I am learning manual mode but it’s tricky with no flight sim that will work with the new controllers. However I have tried getting some altitude and then trying them flicking back into sport to save my ass!!! Little by litttle. I have the smart controller 1 with my Mavic Air2 so I might me able to use that with a sim.
@@Glenn-Reviews the fpv Controller 3 do work with simulator. For example it will work with liftoff. Just look IT Up, there are tutorials online in UA-cam. I recommend trying simulators before using in reality. For me i needed Like 2 hours practicing in simulator. Afterwards i was able to controll fpv in manual in reality aswell. Its cheaper than destroying your drone in the First time ;) Happy flying
Great video! Is there any way to remove the height restriction?
Hi @Mads Tech,
taking into account your findings. Does it mean that with ham file we can switch Mini 4 Pro into FCC mode as well?
im also interested in this!
I’m in the United States. Will the increase RF power also if I buy the app will that increase power that’s all I’m trying to do here. thank you if anyone can answer that be great I added the hand file and I see 5.8 and 2.4 with multiple channel options
This guy keeps amazing me! 🤩
Love ya work mate. Quick Q; can the A2 transmit live audio to G2 or Gv2? Like the FPV drone.
Does this benefit someone like myself in UK ? or is this only for if you travel to EU ?
How do I remove the height limit?
I want to be able to climb mountains...
Hey, did you ever find out if it can be removed?
@@Thierry080only way it can be bypassed is by landing higher up and resetting the home point to the new spot and you can fly higher depending on how much higher you landed on the mountain for example. Just be careful so you are able to retrieve the drone 😂
Well, it seem not only for avata 2.
My avata 1 with goggle v2 got impact.
last time I did just connect the drone, motion controller and goggle to DJI Fly APP, then the update occur automatically.
after that I try to do FCC hack but the manual menu become disable (Grey)
thank for your explanation
Hi great stuff buddy. Just about to go pick one up does it still work with the newest update?
Hi Ian, great video and explanation. QQ, not directly ham file related - is top speed only available in manual mode? I’ve been a drone pilot for many years, but never dipped into FPV. I bought the Avata 2 to dip my toes, but I don’t have the time to get to a place where I’d be comfortable in full manual mode, but I’d like more speed!
Thank you for this . VERY much appreciated!
Keep up the good work 👍🏻
@mads tech - have you ever done DJI goggles with ham file hooked up to the likes of a mini or air. Does that affect those drones in any way?
Ham only works on DJI FPV products.
Hey guys ! Does CE + Ham file removes DJI care warranty ? Thanks in advance
nope..
Hi Ian, its good to use Auto Mode then? Let the google 3 choose the best range and freq ?
For most users yes.
Hi .. i fly avata2 with Integra goggles and fpv controller 2 .. i use ham file in goggles.. i have 3 channels in transmission.. but i have 16mbps transmission ..whether the drone was at a distance of 1 meter or 1000 meters.. the mbps was constantly 16
So does this matter in the USA?

Pavo20 is amazing and good enough for now till then!
very good overview and explanation Mads, just one question regarding the ham file, do we need this file all the time on the SD card in goggles or it can be removed ? I mean is this file read/loaded only once and then it is valid until we reconnect the drone to DJI app or update the firmware... ? I am asking because it is good to know if one can format SD card each time prior flying or we can not do so if the ham file needs to stay on the SD card all the time in such a case I can only delete/empty video file folder ... thank you in advance!
Need to keep it all time. It gets it every time you start goggles
@@matty.dronesMad confirmed it can be deleted afterwards in the video.
@@TheDroneNerd yes. sorry. but you have to always run your goggles and radio first. than drone. every time
Do you know anything about the 2km range cutoff? it doesn't seem like the ham fixes it..
so my understanding is that the ham file is working just fine on the avata 2. But firstly does this works just as well with the goggles 2 and fpv rc 2?
And also does this ham file workaround voids the care refresh plan?
When will dji make a small indoor type O3 or O4 drone. That would be sooo amazing.

how do you store the ham file on mac?
I used Text Edit. Also I see if you dont update goggles 3 , just the quad and RC the Ham file is working. I have the Avata 1 and the FPV, It seems to work avata better range than FPV drone
did you get any luck with this, im trying to create the file but not sure im using the right programme
you can do so via command line, touch command is what you need.
Sorry for the question but is a new thing for me...where i can find that HAM file ?
Hello, I'm new to all of this so apologies for the silly question... is there any downside to using the ham file in CE region? More battery usage??
No it won’t affect flight time.
@@MadRChey there can they somehow catch you using the ham file or the frequency will be okey thx
Can i update any firmware after hacked?
Hello! Can increasing the power damage the transmitter equipment?
How do you do this for both the controllers? Do you just power up the Goggles then the one controller and then the drone and then turn them all off and do the same again but using the other controller or is it once you've done it the first time you can't then make it work with the second controller?
Oh and also how did anyone ever find this hack out?
Thanks.
Copied the HAM file to the gogles and the range seems the same... Does it only work in Manual Mode...?
Does the ham file works for any OcuSync 4 drone? Does it works for DJI Air 3 for example?
No only for FPV drones. Drone hacks and drone tweaks offers options for other DJI drones.
Thanks for this work ! 🤩

I just need create file

Import in SD CARD Googles and turn on googles in first, Rc, and drone ? It’s ok ? :)
Do you have to update to the latest firmware on all devices (dji avata 2/dji fpv remote 3/dji goggles v3) before the ham file works?
This is the only solid, comprehensive and consistent information I found about this whole thing - great content, thank you!!
Now, the results I got were not that conclusive to me, still interesting to observe... here it goes: (and no, radio is not my area, I'm just a curious guy trying to understand it and play)
1) still in original CE mode, I have asked a relative to walk the street with the avata 2 on hands doing zig-zag on the blocks while I was on the balcony with the goggles: when turned the first right, signal degraded drastically as expected, but still working; and it went dark when she turned the next left - so 2 turns on the zig-zag of city blocks, with massive concrete buildings between goggles and drone, were enough to kill the signal completely - honestly, I didn't expect to be better.
@@JNelioAbreu sorry what means armed in this context? All 3 devices were on and in synch, unsure what armed means.

Today I updated the drone and the fcc file does not work. Has anything changed with the update?
What is the sequence of steps?
My first question is :
I am not sure if this is still working?
2nd one is:
Is that file also changes the speed with a motion controller?
I've just tried to apply the ham file hack to my avata 2 , is there an easy way to see of it has worked for me besides flying the drone ?
I was expecting to see in the googles transmission rates of 50mbs but are only seeing 20 ?
If I go into transmission the googles still show auto and manual mode for channels, does this tell me if the hack has worked or not ? I've rebooted both drone and googles, appreciate if somebody could advise thanks
Amazing! Is this working with goggles 2 and fpv remote 2?
Nevermind! Just watched your recent video explaining it all. Thank you!
What are the benefits of manual channel selection?
Sometimes when you have WiFi around it’s better to manually select a clear space on the band.
Does the ham file void any warrenty with DJI? Or void the care refresh plan?
How do we know which channel is the best?
doesnt work for Neo +MC3 +N3. why???
