Vancouverite here: We absolutely never refer to our region as “the Pacific Southwest” ; instead we refer to our position, as:
- the “ *Lower Mainland* “(of B.C.)
or
- the “ *South Coast* ” (of B.C.)
or
- the “ *West Coast* ” (of 🇨🇦)
and,
when talking with Americans, we identify ourselves as part of
- the “ *Pacific Northwest* ” (of North America)
Yeah ive never heard of the term Pacific South west
I understand that it makes sense for Canada but when I think of that I think of Tijuana or San Diego
This is a great point, that the whole Pacific Northwest term is an extension of the American term for the PNW of the USA. Some just started lumping BC in. I don't like the term. Geographically speaking, BC is not in the pacific northwest of the continent. Perhaps the Pacific midwest?@@rivellr
Grew up a few years in the Interior, we just call it the City or Metro Vancouver.. south coast also

My city! I also lived in Seattle for 4 years. Vancouver is so much more vibrant. PNW is only helpful to orient Americans who assume that if you’re Canadian that you must live in or near Toronto.
Fun fact: There used to be an NBA team in Vancouver called the Vancouver Grizzlies from 1995 to 2001. They unfortunately relocated to Memphis after 6 seasons. Their logo was so sick!

@@Link9058Go to the suburbs and it the vast majority of us are still white. Also even if the suburbs are 90% white we still have ancestry from all over Europe so that is still multiethnic.

Vancouverite here (for over 20 years). We British Columbians usually call the Vancouver and Vancouver Island region the "south coast", and Canada-wise it's the "West Coast". Yes, housing cost is a huge issue here since we have the warmest weather in Canada.
Warmest weather isn't the main reason housing is almost unattainable in BC. There's a lot more to that unfortunately...
I just call it 'the coast' or 'the lower mainland'

That's why most people in the region don't live in the city itself. They live somewhere else in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.
If you can't live in Vancouver itself then it's possible to live somewhere else nearby like Surrey or Burnaby or Richmond or Langley instead.
@@SurprisinglyDeephouses in those suburbs are also 1.5 million+. The only people who can afford a house are the filthy rich or Chinese people trying to move money out of China. Canadians need to rent shoe box apartments for $2500/month

@@SurprisinglyDeep you do realise people can just go on rent faster and look rentals up and see that they are in this price range and more? Sure if you share with someone you pay half, but that then isn't your home, it's a shared home. Western democracies shouldn't be aiming for their populations to live in shared accommodation whilst working full time when the previous generation had a house and a family on one income. That isn't progress and if you think it is you're brainwashed.

I'm from BC. Vancouver is home to crazy amounts of crime and beautiful tent cities. Plenty of drugs too. Liberal governments have made this a must see destination. Go see the interior. It's far friendlier and a bit cheaper.

Best way to describe vancouver. It is beautifully expensive. Want to move into the city prepare yourself to pay over 2700 for a room 30 minutes away from downtown west end. And over 3000 for a studio in downtown.

Lol... Vancouver have a hidden G in the middle. VANG-COUVER. It's okay only Canadians know this. 😅
Lets also mention that there are in fact 3 Vancouver's right there. West Vancouver, North Vancouver and Vancouver. All different cities, where only Vancouver proper was showed in the video. And then on top of that the District of North Vancouver and North Vancouver city are different. Then just south is Vancouver, Washington. Throw in that Surrey, Richmond, New Westminster Coquitlam are all nearby and cities on their own.
