- In my opinion TERRIBLE TEDDY by PENHALIGON'S, is way more than just a leather fragrance. This is complex; with spicy woody notes bouncing around. Teddy's staying power is immense, with longevity and projection amazing with only 3 sprays!
So the question is...do I love it? 100%!!!!!
Which now leads me to the next part of the video; how do you want me to rate the fragrances that are in my Collection?
If I've gone out and purchased the fragrance to make them part of my line up; then don't I have the right to say that "I Love it! 100%".....however I also recognise that this might not be enough to provide an indication on how much I DO love it; therefore I need your help.
Would you prefer that I create a rating system that allows you to understand out of 100%, where exactly does this fragrance sit? Or leave it as is, because hey....it's in my collection therefore I LOVE IT!!

I also get loads of spices here (szechuan included). The moment I sprayed it on my skin, it brought me up magical memories of an old spicy-citric accord I felt on guy I was in love with. It was the 80s. He would pass by on the other side of street and I would feel his perfume from my aunt's bedroom's shutter window, even when they were closed. From the second floor, I would sense his perfume. I always opened the window the very moment I could sense it. And there he was. He always noticed when I used to do that. He would stop to look at me, smile and blink his left eye to me. My heart always beated so fast and warm, from the emotion to feel and see him respond to my admiration towards his beauty and good taste.

I’ve bought the portraits collection samples set, and am testing my way through it. Teddy and William Penhaligon are my favourites so far, although I beleive from this collection the only one I might bring into my collection is Teddy. I appreciate some of the others, but I don’t love them.

Yes Ismail, I also enjoy the connection that I’m having with perfume lovers from around the world. It’s an awesome conversation. I’m super envious my brother that you have the ability to walk into the Covenant Garden store, just like that😫....it’s my dream to get back to London and to walk into the Covenant Garden store. I ran out to time last time I was there, but didn’t think anything of it, “I’ll go next year”....then COVID made a mess of all plans😞....anyway, one day, I’m sure.

In the end the “keep loving it” won the toss, but I started thinking how else can I do this, hence you’ve seen the slight change to the format. Plus I like to keep things fresh and always moving around. It makes it fun for me and you guys.

RATE IT!! I'm picky and want at least some comparison to similar fragrances you like LESS, or even more.... I mean... The notes you listed for Terrible Teddy are 90% the same as Dior Sauvage, which really should be used as fuel for controlled fires...so yeah... Rate please haha

Well Marcello, I've finally gotten my nose on Terrible Teddy. I'm test wearing it now, and I, surprisingly, like it! Maybe love it. Here it is in a nutshell:
Elements of Aramis by Aramis combined with elements of Creed Viking.
There it is. I own that description no matter how wacky it sounds.
I love the description James! Own it baby!! The truth is that fragrance is so personal; it's you and your olfactory memory at work....which is what I love.
Happy that you're enjoying this fragrance. This is an easy go to for me; always in the mood to spray Terrible Teddy

The Penhaligon's I'm going after next is The Tragedy of Lord George. I'm really into barbershop fougeres and since Lord George has "shaving cream notes" in the mid, and booze, it's right up my alley.
Thanks @James Thomas for the feedback. So tell me more on how you would rate it? I like the idea of rating them, but feel that it gets tricky. So not sure if you know but everything in the 'Collectors Collection' I've purchased. I love it enough that I went out and spent money on it....so wouldn't reflect that I rate it high?
Plus perfume is so subjective. I could rate it but that rating might not resonate with another person.
For instance, and I'm glad that you've brought up Lord George. I know that this is a brilliant scent, I also know that this is Penhaligon's best seller in the range...but I'm not a fan. I've tested it on multiple times and I want to love, but it doesn't do anything on my skin. Plus the longevity for me isn't that great with this perfume.....so I haven't bought it. Hence it's not in my 'Collection'
It's not a bad fragrance (everyone knows that's not the case)...but it's just not for me. So going back to my first point, if I've bought it, then I love it and that's my rating.

@@TheNicheFragranceCollector Thanks for the in depth reply and explanation. It's TRUE that fragrance appreciation is fundamentally subjective and highly variable. I run I to that constantly. Recently the old designer classic Halston Z14 was rated highly but to me its screechy synthetic Lemon Pledge. Same with Dua Fragrance's two new clones of my two favorite designer fragrances in history, Ralph Lauren Polo Green and Dior Eau Sauvage EDT. Dua's copies are awful despite reviews. A Rohrsach test.
So maybe you could you could talk about the ratings for the featured fragrance on Fragrantica.com, the overall 1 to 5 rating, the longevity, the sillage, the masculine/feminine appropriateness, the price appropriateness, and then explain where and how your personal ratings would fit within that continuum. And you could highlight a few of the reader reviews at the bottom of the Fragrantica page - the extremes and the middling reviews and how yours fits into that continuum. That way we get "the wisdom of crowds" in getting not only your opinion, but of the community at large and how yours fits in to the broad community opinion of a fragrance, and so this helps give better perspective and negates the issue of high variability of fragrance appreciation. I don't think any other fragrance reviewers does that. It would be a service to the viewer in helping choose what to buy. Just an idea.

i came back to this video because my bottle seems to have terrible performance, can’t pick it up unless my nose is within 2 inches of where i sprayed, and can’t pick it up at all after like 30, idk if my bottle has a problem or something, have u heard of something similar happening to other people or is it just me?
This can be frustrating when a perfume seems to have lost it's potency. As a recommendation (and this is what I do), after spraying 3-4 times and after you've lost sense of the fragrance, ask people around you if they can smell the perfume on you.
In a lot of cases, the fragrance is still there, it's just that I've gone nose blind to it. Hopefully this is the problem that you're encountering. If it is, then my recommendation is to not spray as often. Mix it up with other perfumes that way you take your nose by surprise.

Whoa, you’re the first person that has said that about Terrible Teddy not staying for 5hrs+….I would be curious to know if others can smell the fragrance on you. There are times where I feel that I can’t smell a perfume on myself, only to discover that I’ve gone nose blind to the fragrance
