If it's a fact that they're putting out this vehicle they need to put a supercharged version of it out V8 an SS model too that'll probably help the sales more than the V6 would.
"Should" is what we'd like under ideal circumstances. Reality is there's only a niche market for something like that, so to make it profitable, the car would have to be outrageously priced which in turn would limit it more. They know that, and it will not be produced. I've seen a '35 Malibu coupe here on YT that's a faithful re-creation to the 1970 model from the front and back, but using the existing Camaro body. It was a forest green. But no, it'll never be produced, so enjoy the pictures.
My brother in law still has his 71 El Camino from high school. I love the swivel seats. Had to add that after hearing it has a turbo 4 cylinder engine I’m out. A 4 cylinder? Might see if I could install a supercharged V8 before I buy one.
Imagine not having a V8 for power if one put a small goose neck hitch in the bed to pull a single car trailer to somewhere or trailer for a hobby farm as well as take your lady to eat or even a simple ice cream just to get out of the house and hang out with others. Like one did when these came out in G.M. and G.M.C. versions. I do know a guy with a 70 4 speed 454 LS 5 that ran like 🦨! Up in smoke was easy with a light rear. Always wanted to put a same generation Pontiac Lemans front clip with a T/A shaker on a small 8 engine on a El Camino cab and bed. Mini tub it and if bucks up a half size blower / supercharger on a 305,350, 383, 406 small block with a easy to see over it bug eyed single carb hat scoop look instead of the T/A look would be a Kool Kustom . Fun to dream if only i had some Leno Bucks .

I've always been a fan of the El Camino...ever since my uncle brought home his brand new 1972 El Camino SS with the 454cid! The 1970 SS was the epitome of the model's existence...it had the maximum HP before the de-tuning of all the brand's performance vehicles...thanks to the 'energy crisis' that struck post-1970. It always seemed to be a love it-or-hate it vehicle...the hater's had no taste IMHO. If this is brought to fruition, it'll be interesting to see if this new generation can or will be accepted...

I’m seeing to many variations of the vehicle. 2 door, 4 door, 2 1/2 door. With the SS coming in at 43K, I worry about Dealer Markup that would make it way out of reach for the average person to own. Guess, Time will Tell

The original Ford ranchero's, and the Chevy El Camino's were ALL 2 door vehicles. IF there is to be a sort of 'reissue' of this class/type of vehicles, in my way of thinking, they should be brought out first as 2 doors. For my wife and I would only buy a 2 door reissue. If somebody wants or needs a four door vehicle with a small bed, take your pick of the compacts that are out, and the others that will be out soon. But something tells me the automotive brain trusts will find a way to turn them all into 4 door weenie mobiles...

All GM is doing from what I gather Is takin the discontinued Camaro drive train in parts. Which probably are the 3.6 V6 & 9 speed. And then next possibly a 5.3 V8 from the truck line for the SS. But the SS, I guess will be AWD. And then after the first introduction models have sold. Then down size the whole EL Camino at the end of its production to a Hybrid 2.0 4 cyl turbo.. If true. Then get the SS!
They need to offer it with all the choices they gave with the Camero. V6 3.6? NO. Use the 4.3 vortec V6 with a super charger and an LS6 V8 super charged for hi po.
