You don't need to remove the inner bolts on the suspension arm. That saves messing up the alighnment too.

Do you just remove the one closest to the hub? Does seem odd to mess with the adjustment bolts albeit marking them makes sense.

@@tomwhit1982 You only need to remove the bottom bolt for the shock - bit awkward to get to with the spring in the way but totally doable

@@dopiaza2006 ahh yes makes sense. Thanks.

@@tomwhit1982 Biggest problem I found was getting the bolt to tighten without cross threading. It goes in at an odd angle and especially with new shock (so new bottom bolt bushes). It's best to test fit the bolt with no shock absorber to get an idea of the angle it goes in at. Hint - it's not how it would appear to be! I seem to remember it points slightly downward and rearward. 21mm ratchet spanner helps, plus a 21mm socket, various extensions and a wobble adapter.

@@dopiaza2006 Thank you for this comment. I just did this on a 2010 Octavia Scout, and I only undid four fasteners on total (two on the top, bottom, shock itself). Totally doable, just cumbersome to get the bolt to go between the coils of the spring. Spacers and spring compressors is the way to go, and I would still argue it's the easier solution.

Just compress spring, unscrew shock absorber and job is done?

    13 minutes to change only?

      Thank you for your comment!
On average, such a replacement takes from 30 minutes and more, depending on the technical condition of the suspension units.

If you're doing this job undo the control arm from the Knuckle end instead, thank me later.
