The locked out iPhone 4s I found in a box required me to hold both the home and on/off pwr button in order to get it into this mode, FYI.

No the hard reset will clear everything. You will need to know the apple id password that is signed into the phone to fully reset the phone.
Put in description, which buttons do u have press.

This wat im trying to say. When I download it says loading to files I go to my files and its not there I don't see the iTunes app anywhere
iTunes app needs to be installed on your computer
hi i hope you see this message I am in 2020 and I am doing everything you say so many times but all it does it goes to recovery mode but after that it goes back to being the same it is still locked the phone and laptop have a different cloud so does that affect the recory pls answer as soon as possible
Hi there. A friend gave me an old iPhone 4 (I think she said it was 4) and I need to factory reset it without any of her details because she can't remember them. Is this the process I need to do or will it lock me out or something? Presumably there's some sort of security involved to stop thieves from simply stealing a phone and resetting it?

i bought an sencond hand iphone4. I tried to reset it through general settings. It shows loading symbol rotating for 2 days and turned off. Then I charged it and power on -ed. but it didn't reset and get back to normal state.I want it to reset it to factory defaults What should I do?
I wouldnt hard reset it unless you have the apple id password.
Sadly, The iphone 4 didn't connect to my desktop mac. I saw the screen then it just turned back to the apple logo. I may have to use a different computer, what computer did you use?
Any computer with iTunes on it should work. Might want to try a different charging cable.

how long is the connect to itunes logo gonna show? How am I supposed to know if it's restoring?
The length that it stays plugged in depends on the internet speed. If its uploaded quickly the wait is fairly minimal. Itunes will tell you how far it is in the uploading process.

No you will need the apple account password that is active on that phone. Its a security feature that prevents theft.

Yes you will need a computer with itunes.
What if you do hold it but it still puts you into the lock screen?

When the apple logo pops up keep holding both of the buttons. also try plugging it in to iTunes before pressing the buttons down.

I have an iPhone 4 but when I reset it, in order to get into the phone, I have to put in the apple id that was previously on the phone. I made a new one because I forgot the old one, but it said it had to be the one already linked to the phone. I tried what you suggested, and the same thing keeps happening. Is there any way to start it as a completely new phone without having to know the apple id already linked to this phone? Thanks!

my power button broken so if using only home button to connect to itunes does it work
