Showing a baby goat balancing on it's mother back and then cutting to a sheep getting a feed bucket stuck on it's head is a pretty good summary on sheep and goats.

Howdy, I'm Off grid In Kentucky. The past storm took down over 7 trees on the property. Uprooted them. A lot of problems happen from that storm. We are all Working together to get the trees cut up cleaned up and firewood Stacked. It only takes one storm to Rec-havic

    • @TheOffGridExperience

That storm was crazy. Also ripped a roof panel off the back of the cabin where I didn't have it secured good. It's good to have help for clean up. Take care!!

Sadly, leafy greens contain high levels of oxalates, and cause a lot of problems as they build up in your system. Especially muscles, joints and kidneys. Spinach is the worst.

Nice to see a new video glad to hear all is well and changes sometimes are a good thing. Life goes by so fast and we don't even realize it until one day we wake up and say to self: "it's time to change priorities", Even small changes can make a huge difference and we can get grounded again and even change our way of thinking. We only go through this life once and by golly do what you love and others around us as well. God has blessed you with a wonderful life, family and even special Gifts of building your cabin. For the wall "logs," it would be efficient to take stock of how many of each variation is needed. Then, in a flat area, lay out all the boards and put them together as such. It might be more exact, and there'd be less picking up and putting down of various tools. That way, when it comes to building, it'd just be playing with legos.

    • @TheOffGridExperience
      @TheOffGridExperience  Рік тому +2

It would be great to do that, but I don't mind getting exact measurements for each "log" so everything fits better.

We use a cast iron skillet that has been passed down from my great grandmother.
She died in 1988 at the age of 94.
When using a cast iron skillet, some of the iron leaches into the food, which in small amounts is good for your body.

Here's some synchronicity for you. I was just watching another channel I follow Martijn Doorland who is restoring a stone cabin in the Italian Alps and he just suffered a tremendous storm with devastation on his site. He's spent the last week restoring things. Adversity strikes but we keep a stiff upper lip and move on. Loved the baby sheep and goats. We used to keep goats and they were terrible brats. My Dad would come in for a break and they would try to turn the door knob so they could come in too. They were up on our cars and eating my Mom's precious flowers. lol

Looking good. I believe I would have knocked together a couple of sawhorses to build those “logs” more at waist level. That’s a lot of bending over, at least for me. Also a couple of jigs to get the spacing the same rather than measuring each one. Measure once, build a jig, end repetitive measuring. You’re doing good though holding down a full time job, farming animals, and this. Got a little worried it had been three weeks since your last video.

when you put your next beam on you put down a layer of glue, do you also screw them down or is the glue itself ok?

No. I also screw the bottom of the log into the tongue board of the log it sits on. These keeps it level and more rigid.

You will find driving screws much easier with a impact/drill driver.

Thanks. I have a driver but prefer a regular drill. The noise of the driver is annoying to me.

My self reliance done over and over and over getting old. People try to mimick amythimg they see someone else set the precident for success.. be individuals not sheep for Gods sake... off grid channels all seem the same lately. What makes this one unique is the 2×8 construction which is absolutely a great and different way to build... so def appreciate the fresh take on economical building here.. nice work

Thanks. I'm a fan of My Self Reliance. He's the gold standard for sure. The 2x8 lumberlog is definitely something not seen on youtube.

@TheOffGridExperience I can't knock ya if I could escape away I'd be out there as far as I could get and I'd live there.. you did the roof very unconventional btw and I'm wondering have u had any leaks ? Reason I'm asking is I've done many roofs and it's always bottom up overlapping felt or ice n water and this is because water flows top to bottom.. until the ice builds a the lowest point and melts and freezes, causing issues from ice lifting and backing up under the material. Esp w gutters and not so much without... u layed side to side if I remember but ur theory was water isn't getting beneath the metal?? I may be wrong...

@itcantbetruebutis7778 no leaks at all and we get a ton of rain in Tn. The vapor barrier was unconventional in that it was overlapped vertically. The foil foam barrier was done in the normal horizontal method starting at the bottom.

I agree! Sheep are so much easier to raise! They look at fences like it a safe zone. Coated look at a fence as a challenge to conquer!
