There’s never going to be zero backstage politics in wrestling. It’s kind of the nature of the business. Like them or not they dont have enough experience in america except in the indy.. i love Omega as a wrestler in ring when he's focused at doing is work but i wouldn't agree with everything he say and want about wrestling in AEW due to is experience and shit he have done in the past
Let’s be honest this has the bucks written all of over it the first thing punk did in aew was make sure the world realized that ftr is the best tag team in the world so there using uncle Dave to get back at him
He can't. He is a mark for the Elite. He would never check them. Hence the problems in AEW. A line is being drawn in the sand and Khan doesn’t have the balls to regulate it. He is to bias to one side.
ironically enough, he understood this several months ago and ditched the elite to even sign punk, bryan and all the other wwe stars. but TK needs to be tough on EVERYONE
@@misters4022 ditched the elite?! what are you rambling about? If he would have "ditched" the elite in any sense already. Everyone with some god damn sense knows that is the right business to do for EVERYONE involved. But no....the cucamonga kids ego is more important than AEW's longterm success!
@@el-youtub3r402 well if you was paying attention he did start to regulate some of the decisions the bucks, omega and cody were making. but pull yo head outta cornette's ass and you'll see for yourself. also, i think alot of ppl got the bucks wrong. they are selfish, but in a different way....because they did at least try to start the company and put over alot of other tag teams, much to their own detriment. I think they are clueless though when it comes to ring psychology, and actually putting on a match that makes sense, since their whole schtick is that they are wrestling gag characters who can kick outta big finishers, thats their biggest issue is translating their style to american wrestling tv
Imagine if this all somehow kicked off a series of events leading to the implosion of AEW. That would genuinely be the funniest wrestling joke Cabana ever pulled off
That's just someone being insecure. Kenny literally have moves that are references to games. He bases some of his character based on anime characters. The thing where he poses then runs to two sides of the ring then does his dive has fans mimicking the terminator music.
There was the storyline when he first joined the Dark Order which revolved around Mr. Brodie helping him to get wins but nothing happened after Ron Huber's untimely death.
Personally, if I was in charge of AEW it doesn't matter to me if Colt was a job guy or the top guy in the company: I'm not going to let someone else tell me who to fire.
Yeah I think the thing Cornette is missing is that, if this is all true of course, this whole thing sets a dangerous precedent in the future. Jim said it would be different if it was someone like Danielson instead of Cabana, but what if in the future Punk gets pissed at Danielson for whatever reason and wants HIM out. If you let someone like Punk choose who goes, it’s a slippery slope as time goes on.
Also, I think it would be a really interesting thought experiment to imagine Punk pulling similar moves on Cornettes SMW or OVW when he was in the drivers seat.
@@seanbarton4940 No doubt...Cornette wouldn't have listened to any of that nonsense.....this is the same guy that threatened to shoot Brock Lesner....lol....now he's going to act like he'd let talent tell him to hire and fire if he were in charge?
@@guitardork555 Here's the thing though: Nobody's saying Punk explicitly demanded Tony fire Colt. Tony may have simply made a calculation (as Jim points out here) that with two guys on the roster with known bad blood and one is being used essentially as a job guy and the other is his biggest star, that it makes sense to get rid of the one he's not really using anyway to head off any potential problems. Don't kid yourself, if Austin, Rock or Taker had a problem with someone on the WWE roster back in the day, that person would be gone. Like it or not, AEW is using Punk as "the man" that does come with pull. Always has.
Its definitely not Cabana. They are butthurt that the talented wrestlers are getting over and more tv time. Colt Cabana is just the excuse they are using to cover up their jealousy.
The main problem with this, is it makes me think the MJF stuff isn't a work, which in that case would make Tony Khan one of the most incompetent men to ever run a wrestling promotion.
I think it’s a bit of both. MJF being unhappy with his contract is 100% real. MJF almost walking out on the PPV a few months ago was 100% real. The “pipe bomb” promo that came after was 100% work. His time off, probably also a work, but I’m not sure it’s 100%…probably more 50/50. Tony isn’t a competent GM for Fulham. He isn’t competent at running the analytics department for the Jags. I see no reason to assume he can competently run a major wrestling promotion.
I'll defend Tony on THAT at least. He cant just give MJF a raise without an extension. Thats not how it works in this business and itd set a very bad precedent. Although perhaps Tony isn't negotiating as well as he should..
@@12ozmouse99 I know we live in a connected world, but how can he be GM when hes an ocean away? I live in the States. It'd be unfathomable for an NFL/NBA GM to live in the UK. And thats not even taking into account all his other priorities (AEW, Jags, etc.).
@@erikstorm8935 He can just give MJF an extension. the precedent should be set that the very best performers get compensation that matches their value to the company. That's what happens in well run businesses, they value their talents that overperform their pay grade. Those are the ones you want to keep, because it's far cheaper to keep homegrown talent than it is to go get outside talent. Plus, it's not like Kyle O'reilly can see an MJF extension and go ask for his own. Everyone on the roster is not equally valuable, and an MJF extension would be motivation for others to step up their game. There are very few people in AEW that deserve more than they're making. There's far more people on the roster that need to be fired if anything.
There have been like 3 Dark Order members who got let go since Punk has arrived, along with multiple other guys who have been with the company since day 1. Colt being made a central figure for ROH's eventual relaunch is a blessing more than anything. Especially if it gets him away from the dark order. I love a lot of the guys in that group, but you aren't exactly becoming a star by being in it nor are you gonna have a lot to do beyond running the company's youtube gaming channel. Plus since Punks arrival, Colt was still being featured on TV and dark for quite a while. He even had a match with Danielson in Chicago which I'm pretty certain was either right before or right after Punks match. Basically what I'm saying is, if Punk really wanted Tony to fire Colt, it would've happened the second he walked into Rampage August of last year.

From the sounds of it. If you read the tea leaves it’s the elite, page and the dark order vs. punk ftr the BCC and Kingston I’d imagine I can see MJF siding with the punk side
Sad part is; they may actually win. I'd like to think AEW'S core audience has smartened up to these clowns, since they barely get a reaction these days. But most of the reporting out there is being done to make Punk look as bad as they possibly can, framing it as if he's some raving lunatic making the entire locker room miserable. And with Cornette being pretty much the only one who's had the balls to stick up for him, I worry that a lot of it is gonna stick and turn into "go home" heat with a significant portion of fans in the building every week.
When I first started wrestling I used to have to buy wrestlers items from concessions with my own money and Colt is the only wrestler to ever pay me back.
I see a lot of people around saying that Punk was trying to get rid of Cabana but in reality, I’m not even sure he even needed to mention anything to Tony. If I were in Tony’s shoes, I would know that these two have very real beef between them and if I wanted to bring in the actual mega star, I would have to make a choice as they likely wouldn’t want to work together. Like Cornette said, if this were anyone else, I’d raise an eyebrow but this was pretty obvious stuff so I don’t know why this is suddenly a big deal for some. Also, Cabana was off of TV looong before Punk showed up. The last time he had any sort of angle I can remember it was with Brodie Lee and costing them matches or something, and then that was completely dropped when they pushed Lee and gave him the TNT title.
in an interview Eddie Kingston said Danielson and Punk didn't push anybody off their spot,, they worked for it, they're putting themselves out there, if anybody wants to be where they're in, they have to work for it. Maybe Cabana can work for it if he's hungry, instead of blaming it on other things. And that's a thing Taker has said, how new guys aren't hungry. Cabana isn't new to the business, but maybe he was never as hungry as his former best friend too.

Crazy how this thing has gotten out of control considering how punk and cabana were close friends...But ALL Friends Wrestling could lead to The Rise And Fall Of AEW in less than a Decade??
HHH-era WWE seems to be an all-friends promotion as well, and thats NOT a good sign. Luckily for WWE they're an institution. Plus, Steph and Nick Khan can always kick Triple Naitch to the side.
In a professionally run company, Tony would sit down and explain it's not the star "making problems", it's the people bitching about the star and if they knew what was good for them, they'd knock it off because they're the expendable ones. Problem resolved.

As well as an attempt to turn Punk heel and include Page, since Punk isn't fully healthy and needs more time to heal up. To add, while reports say that the mention of Page wasn't planned, AEW posted a video of Punk challenging Page, on their twitter page. Now, contrast that to MJF (Whose situation I think is a Brian Pillman like shoot), where they never posted a single thing involving him ever again and wiped him from existence.
Bingo. Especially since they made a decently big deal out of reporting Punk and Cobana cordially keeping their distance from one another when Punk came in. If anyone’s feelings are “real” in this case, it’s probably The Elite’s.
why do wrestling fans think everything is always a work. you sound like the type of a person who to this day says "Montreal Screwjob was a Work!" im sorry but sometimes its not very hard to see what is a shoot.
The only reason I believe it could be a work is because turning your top drawing babyface heel once he gets his title run is the exact sort of illogical mark booking that Tony could readily be swayed towards.

Yeah. Better way Jim might have put it is that Punk can take that animosity and make compelling TV out of it. Page rambled about “masturbatory Bret Hart” matches and Punk being locker room cancer to the wide head scratching of all. I do sincerely hope Page has something less inside baseball to fire back with. If he could capture even 1/10 of the animosity in the Kingston / Punk mini feud, it could do a lot to rehabilitate Page.
i think its probably more of a kind of "warning". basically if somebody tries to bully you, and you dont set your boundaries, they will see you as vulnerable and feel like they can get away with it and continue bullying you. i think punk just did that as a sort of "You dont wanna mess with me or ill mess with you harder" just so that everyone in the company gets the memo that they should just work professionally with him and not try to pull a fast one on him. sometimes even if you dont really care about something, you have to put out there the fact that youre still not going to tolerate it if youre there to just do professional business and dont want to take part in those kids dramas. he was basically just telling Page and the others to let him be and he will leave them aswell.

In ROH he’s got a lot of history with the brand and can be presented as a main eventer as opposed to being in a babyface jobber faction. Nope. I learned years ago in management, being the friend boss is a death sentence. Because at the end of the day you get no respect. And without respect, you can't control the aslyum. The inmates will.
This is dramatically missing why they like Colt. Cabana was the first trailblazer who showed Indy talent how to really make money and hustle outside of the main companies. They respect him because of that. It's not because of his position on the card. Still isn't worth kicking up a fuss over, but it's not exactly because he's their 'friend'. It's the same as a fuss getting kicked off because someone was rude to... I dunno, William Regal, who was only ever pushed as a mid-level talent but everyone respects him immensely and if you give him shit it'll come back at you. Colt legit helped a lot of those people learn how to make a living, and there are PLENTY of people Jim talks about in similar ways that he says deserves respect.
Sure, and as much as I think Colt is a goof, he does deserve respect for that. That said, business is business and that can't guarantee him a job for life, especially if it's causing conflict with their actual biggest star right now. This is not really a mystery. Many people in that company and the business do not like CM Punk for many reasons. They can say people in AEW are jealous of him, but he had heat with some of these people from day one, and whatever is going on with him and Adam Page might just be that Page does not like him, and as someone that was positioned as a "top guy" by Tony Khan, he said something. Why was Kenny saying they are not a tribute act when the Bucks literally stole so much click mannerisms and moves?
That's just someone being insecure. Kenny literally have moves that are references to games. He bases some of his character based on anime characters. The thing where he poses then runs to two sides of the ring then does his dive has fans mimicking the terminator music.
The bucks stole their entire act from other tag teams. They part Rockers, part Hart Foundation, part Hardy Boys. Shame it's all the worst parts...

@@KClouisville exactly. And he wouldn’t let punk do it especially because with or without him, viewership is still abysmal.
Maybe an owner who is completely hands off. But not the freakin GM. He has to be close by to handle things IN PERSON (and on a regular basis).
So he did have some other focus besides Brodie Lee's friend, Bryan Danielson's victim.
@@insupportofjunhado being fed to Danielson, cosplaying Brandon Cutler in that Dark Order vs Elite Halloween match and being the opening match for both ROH PPV's is the extent of Cabana's activity within the past 12 months.

What’s your IG bro for I can check some of your work out?

To add, while reports say that the mention of Page wasn't planned, AEW posted a video of Punk challenging Page, on their twitter page. Does anyone else feel like ROH would be a better fit for Cabana than just sitting around in the Dark Order? In ROH he’s got a lot of history with the brand and can be presented as a main eventer as opposed to being in a babyface jobber faction. I dont even mean that purely as a knock against Dark Order because babyface jobber faction does put them into a useful niche (especially after they’ve cut the size down) as they are ‘jobber over’ with the AEW crowd but you cant be a real star as long as you’re in their current gimmick especially since part of it is that Page is around to stick up for them against heels that bully or humiliate them. As long as Tony Khan loves CM Punk, he won't listen at all to the Cucamonga Kids, Kenny Olivier or the Millennial Cowboy.
There have been many stories of fan having bad experience with colt and u can such experience from this comment section itself
nobody cares about all that tho
Sure, and as much as I think Colt is a goof, he does deserve respect for that. That said, business is business and that can't guarantee him a job for life, especially if it's causing conflict with their actual biggest star right now.
Ron Simmons was once one of the most respected guys in the WWE locker room, but that didn't mean he was equal with Steve Austin in the pecking order.
@@Tim85-y2q Tony bending to the Elite by keeping Cabana will be one of his big mistakes if this aint a shoot. Cabana shouldve been out the door the second CM Punk signed with AEW. now he has to deal with this dumb friction in the locker room that can escalate down a bad path for AEW.
@@kol107 Jim was right that Tony never should have given the Elite actual backstage power to begin with. There's something to be said for offering friendlier working conditions than your competitor (WWE), but you can do that and still run things like a business. If they lose Punk over this, that will be so ridiculous.
But like everything else in AEW, the mob will turn on people when it does not conform to Tony Khan's awkward way of doing things. And though Page has allowed himself to be booked to look like a chump and did nothing to help himself, Tony's habit of throwing everyone under the bus when his decision looks terrible will bite him in the ass sooner or later.
Whats yall predictions on Wednesday for the Heroin addict vs Plumber match for the world title.
Given how legitimately upset some in my wrestling appreciation circle have been that Punk dare say anything about that poor sweet baby angel Hangman - I want Requiem For A Dream to stay strong.
The Homeless looking opium addict and The Kissing Plumber 💋 will do "The Job" to Tony's 👎🍊fetish Cassidy in a 3 way !
Wait, which one is which?
Brian nailed it on the head towards the end. Tony will eventually say fuck this shit and give the company to someone else.
Colt debuted 5 months before Punk arrived...but Punk is still to blame for him failing, even with Colt having a half year start?
In what world does that make any sense?
He appeared pretty regularly in those 5 months, once Punk debuted he appeared much less before disappearing altogether.
Is that a coincidence to you?
@@thebatmanwhoposts9600 You mean like how MJF was also there regularly before Punk as well?
@@shindean do Punk and MJF have serious real life heat? Did MJF ever promise to pay Punk's legal fees only to him him with a "sorry, you're on your own kid"?
It's obvious to anyone who doesn't gurgle Punk's balls that he's the reason Colt is no longer in Dark Order or on TV anymore.
@@thebatmanwhoposts9600 There's also Darby and Kingston, did Punk also bury them all before he even arrived? Kid, you're clearly losing a lot of brain cells to make your point😆
CM Punk destroyed Colt and Hangman at the All Out press conference 👏👏👏👀🎤🔥🔥
Can anyone remind me whos "fault" it was for the fallout between Colt and Punk? I remember the podcast and lawsuit but i thought it was because Punk said hed pay for Colts legal fees then didnt. But i could be missing some things..
WWE told colt to take the podcast down and punk said leave it up and i will pay your legal fees then after the case said fuck that pay it yourself. Punk fucked his friend over. Not a fan of the dipshits in aew but cornette doesnt know shit about this or is purposely talking shit. He loves punks politics and thats jims weakness.
Yes. That's what happened. Jim is just simping for Punk here.

Punk is doing what he is being paid to do -- getting people talking about the product, getting eyes on the screen and butts in the seats
All Out in his hometown is 2 weeks away and still hasn't sold out yet and the last episode of Dynamite was the lowest rated in months.
Getting neckbeards who already watch AEW to talk online is worthless.
How did that turn out? Keep being delusional
Isn't cabana the guy with the box on his head?
Though I am no fan of Cabana and agree that he is not a star, Cabana does have a great degree of respect among the wrestlers. He was the first wrestler to have a successful podcast, and he created the model that most indie guys are now using to promote themselves and make money. His on screen contributions are next to nil, but he is a popular and highly respected person behind the curtain.
Absolutely agree. Appreciate Hanger sticking up for him.
That and I think he pioneered indie guys selling merch. A lot of them just assumed no one wanted to be a T-Shirt of some indie wrestler but they were wrong and it lead to a lot of indie guys actually being able to make money just wrestling.
@@worldsgreatestmysteries1766 But who is he, to stick up for anyone, a friend, sure. But Hangman is acting like he is a locker room leader against the biggest star in All Elite Wrestling, a guy if Adam Page kept his mouth shut and minded his business, Punk probably would have made Adam Page look like a credible World Champion instead of making look like a transitional champion.
All true, but unless something new has been revealed Punk hasn't gone out of his way recently to make sure Cabana doesn't get used, so Cabana and Punk are not friends, how is that any of Adam Page's business, makes Cabana look weak that he can't stick up for himself, I don't know where Adam Page got the idea he is The Undertaker of All Elite Wrestling, he has no stroke within that company, now he is just insulted the biggest star in the company, for what? Now Cabana looks weak and Page probably will never see Main Events anytime soon. As far as Punk goes, he could just leave, he doesn't need the job, lol.
Colt cabana doesn’t have a cult of fans
the last Colt cabana match I remember on television was on or around the time Matt Hardy debuted during the empty arena era
Punk versus Colt Cabana in a Shoot Fight. Book it Tony "Herb Abrahams Jr." Khan! Now that will put butts in seats.
Why is that jobber at the center of so much drama ? The fact that khan is letting this even happen speaks volumes
Most relevant Cabana has been since the pipebomb
Jim is a hypocrite. Wasn’t Dax crying on a podcast about the Kliq bullying him and about Twitter body shaming him. Hasn’t Punk been crying a decade about WWE? Also he keeps acting like we didn’t see Punk in a fight get no offense in, and become a punching bag twice! If Punk is so tough, how come he didn’t say anything until he could bury hangman onscreen when hangman couldn’t do anything about it. Seems like HBK behavior that Cornette still complains about.
Cornett just predicted the fight lol
I lowkey thought Colt had already been cut
I could listen to Cornette talk about anything 24/7.
really?
Y’all keep saying Punk the biggest star but the ratings have shown with or without him nothing changes. Stop overrating Punk and shitting on Page because y’all don’t like him.
Colt Cabana cannot even get booked on the unwatchable UA-cam shows.
Wasn’t Colt Cabana part of one of Punks “Pipe Bombs” back in WWE?
Yes, than did cabanas pod when he walked out. They got sued over it, and ended up suing each other
I remember that time Cabana put his hand in the air and smiled. Then he was never seen again 😂
sad for me to say, but it's the truth: there could never be a union in professional wrestling because wrestlers themselves can never agree on one single thing
As we're currently seeing, even if they're all far leftists they're still going to feud with each other.

I mean 70 percent of the dork order got fucked off. I didn't see him going off on Tony for that.
Lol Punk is my guy, but I dunno if I agree with the notion of Colt “turning” on him. He arguably got sued because of Punk’s comments and Punk supposedly stuck him with the bill on top of it all after promising to pay. Not taking either side, but unless there was something else out there, it doesn’t sound like Colt did Punk dirty.
Given that the Colt rumors actually seems to be a thing now, makes me wonder if there was any truth to that rumor that Punk was preventing Lethal from being pushed due to Lethal’s history with AJ Lee. 🤔
Jim is reaching 1997 Vince McMahon/Shawn Michaels levels of enabling with Punk.
Also, the bald guy from FTR admitted Shawn Michaels hurt his feelings in the WWE, so that claim is false.
Enabling Punk for what? What the .... are you talking about. Page is the clown the locker room is enabling. Go on explain to me what Jim is enabling, i'd love to see how your brain operates.

It’s simple: AEW needs Punk. They don’t need Colt Cabana. It would be great if everyone got along, but you gotta keep your draws, and AEW doesn’t have many draws to lose.
They were doing just fine before he got there, they'll be doing just fine if he leaves. Same thing could have been said about MJF three months ago. No man is that important to a wrestling company.
I like how Corny and Brian won't even mention the possibility punk actually tried to use his stroke and position to potentially get an innocent man fired and whether that is ok or not.
