- Fun fact: I wasn't originally planning on this video coming out on the same day as Beholder 3, but it just worked out that way. Hopefully that game is as good as this one.

Beholder 2 is such a unique gem, is so good to see it getting the recognition it deserves.
I remember you covering Beholder 2 a while back! That was what got me to play the game, and I'm so glad i did!!

personally I preferred the first game in the series, actually having your family with you added more weight to all of your decisions as you had to take them into account as well, also i dont like the way the ending of the 2nd game, it felt like all the choices you made in the game didn't matter aslong as you got all the codes. in the first game afew of the side quests could drastically affect the ending and you got to see the results of what you did during the story.
regardless, I enjoyyed both games and am looking forward to Beholder 3. Also thanks for bringing attention to this franchise it's one of my favourites.
You're right, I think the first game is way more personal and plays better into the family vs state (duty) dilemma because it's more personal. I hope when they remaster this game people from the first game will get involved in a more direct way, instead of entries and paragraphs, they maybe actual people interacting and helping our main characters in unique ways depending on the outcome of the previous game.
The Maria Curie quest made me repeat the whole floor
Im so excited to play beholder 3 which is a mix of both games but with a new story!
I loved this game! Enjoyed story and and side quests and first floor work too, but later floors' work turned into a grind the more i played: final floor gave too little money and reputation for the work too hard per task.
What i love is the scenery - mainly for plaza before the ministry building. It looks very pleasing and conveys this vast world of capitol of authoritarian country that i would love to explore, where people are small like ants and the architecture is collossal and uncaring.
I don't think the change of gameplay is supposed to alienate fanbase, rather that it is being a natural evolution of "living in 1984" format. I don't think it would make me interested in the game if i saw that they will try to tell similar story second time (like they did with Beholder 3)

tbh this doesn't really make me wanna play this game but it just shows your love for it and that's fine!
I just love both of the games but I love each of them for a different reason. Beholder 1 was much more challenging than Beholder 2 and even Beholder 3 while the story of Beholder 2 is sooo funny while being equally creepy and disturbing, it's also really unpredictable and it doesn't matter with how well of an intention you choose, the situation can always get worse. Beholder 1 was mostly sad and the characters were so realisticly made that sometimes unintentionally I found myself actually sympathizing with them and regret the choices I made. I can tell that the creators of this franchise just love horrible endings and making their characters feel miserable 😂! In Beholder 1 you had to actually analyze your situation and think about how to get the possible ending whereas in the second game, side tasks didn't have any effect on the game's overall ending, just tasks regarding the boss of each floor. In the end I love the game and am truly waiting for Beholder 4 ❤!
What do you think of the third game? That one part of your “shockingly dark games list”, as well as some comments here imply you didn’t like it, but I was kind of curious if you were willing to go more in depth of your thoughts on it.
Your complaints with Evans wife and kid are similar to my problems with the family members in ultra despair girls. Their appearance is so minor and they only show up for like a minute and it makes you wonder "Why are they even here?".
They feel more like collectibles than anything
@@Dafawfulizer the family in 1 and so far from what I played in 3 is done better. Really liking the daughter a lot more than expected in 3. Usually the rebellious child in a very dangerous situation or setting annoys the hell out of me.

It's kind of funny, while playing the game, I had the feeling Evan would be a clone of his dad because his family was so absent I thought they were actually fake memories and the phone call had been made by actors, and that it wall part of his "father"'s plan to stop the regime by a using a person he created himself with the cloning technology, I know it'd be far fetched due to the letters, but it wasn't that impossible.
That's just how the lack of family presense is huge xd
I mean, considering how crazy the actual twist is, that explanation isn't really that far-fetched. Reminds me of Bioshock honestly

I think it would have been better if they gave the games a new name rather than a number, I mean like Beholder, Beholder: Ministry, Beholder: Whatever for the 3rd. It just makes more sense as of course they're all kind of linked but they're all seperate too.
It might have removed the perceived need to play them in order for newcomers and give reason to play the older ones rather than see them as lesser than the newest.
I love 1, 3 is good from what I've played so far, only recently got 2 because it's as you said, I didn't like the change of gameplay but I'm willing to give it a chance and starting to come around to it from what I've seen
Although I would say from what I've seen from 2 I think they could have expanded upon some aspects as it really could have felt more like Papers, please in a way

Beholders one's time management was the same for me and the family's reaction, the wife's particularly over small things, made me mad because even though I'm the husband running around to take care of his CHILD she straight up hits me with :You can at least pretend to love your daughter!" Like What the heck? Most dads would be ticked off And it'd be a good drama point for the characters in game to fight about, as many men would fume. Especially since the child was sick so much (Her quest also took up most of the game and made you try your hardest to save her, I also felt like it was hard to play since I not only had no direction, but no hints or tips would work and sometimes when it seems like you'll be able to easily get something done like just ASK for a DNA sample from blissful sleep or just give the cruise tickets you stole to the Klaus' since Sarah won't need them anymore, you can't.
I like the son's reactions because... It adds more reaction? It got me emotionally humorous, when he robbed the bank, it made me worried and I was like "PATRICK, NOOOOO!" Then when he got shot, I was like "Got dang it, he done got himself killed. Stupid boy." I seriously thought he was an idiot. I do wish I could Rant to the wife and Patrick, Patrick especially, because he asks for $10K when his sister needs $15K knowing the family IS NOT MADE OF MONEY? Like, how much money does he think his dad has? Even at twelve, I knew I wouldn't be able to get that kind of money from my parents and wouldn't expect them to be able to give it away.
Like those little actions give me relief to be myself and add a sense of reason.
Another thing in Beholder one was when my daughter needed aspirin, she got it but it wasn't just useless if I gave it to her, it was useless if I didn't. At least, if they went the route of her still needing more, not only did they not have to make it expensive like THAT maybe just a few thousand, but also they could have made her die or have a severe consequence. Or, at least, since it wasn't what she needed it, made her have a bad consequence for getting it to her. It would at least educate not to give medication without a diagnosis. Something different to change the course.
Or give us the option to ask the doctor early on.
Then we wouldn't have to waste time, money and recourses on useless aspirin.

The game looks very promising but has a lot of bugs. As for me on day 2 where the wise leader is holding a speech in a big giant screen, it seems to can't get past the first sentence. He is posing in an infinite loop but the words are not changing and i can't touch anything. So, basically it's not worth it.

The beholder 2 community hasn’t shown much interest, but some people may be willing if you made a petition to your own fans (also we’d be more organised). I’m sure the community overlap is enough to make something decent.
