Was shocked about this too! Very exciting. Especially as a pro member and avid user of both. Hope this doesn’t impact their current credit system. I’m so glad Leo added rollover. These new features sound like they are going to be incredible. Canva is making huge moves. Love your posts.
It doesn't appear that the current credit system will be affected. Leonardo really did improve it by adding the "fast" vs. "quality" options. I can't wait to see how it all turns out.
I'm don't use Canva very often, although I tried out the AI image generator and video generator there when they first came out. So I think with the power of Leonardo fueling the image and video generation on Canva it's going to make a complete design workflow seamless and effortless. Exciting.

Thanks for the video. I had already gravitated towards Leonardo and hadn't considered Canva for videomaking as others such as LTX are easier and better in my opinion. But that may change with this new announcement.

I use both of these alot my biggest hope is on leo when you generate the images you will be able to edit the photo with Canava magic before having to download. Will save alot of processing time or having load fix then reload on image to image motion videos also. I hate leo editor very complicated Canva so easy
Great points. Linking these two together will give us the best of both worlds. There couldn't be a better acquisition.

Fantastic news, if they invest and improved motion, that can match Kling, Luma and Runway, that will definitely become a massive game changer, Canva could become the only AI tool ever needed to Create videos.
Great points. I asked Leonardo in their Discord server (anyone can join) if they were going to improve Motion and they said YES. Can't wait.
We have been using canva to write children's books. Usually hiring an artist from fiver. Most of them say they don't use AI but they often do. I started a free plan with Leonardo AI to try it out. Lots of melting faces, multiple fingers, arms coming out of stomachs and weird stuff. I got some decent scenes and a couple rocking ones. Was wondering if there was better output for paid versions like multiple layers. I like it, but wish I had down more control. I have found out that there is a ton you can do with hidden little areas. Been trying the negative prompts to try and get rid of disfigured images. I am sure there probably is a way, edit and only select that small disfigured finger, nose, mouth, or 3 sets of lips-and keep everything else but just change that one problem. Probably would come with practice.
Yes, a paid plan will give you more options and those usually help eliminate the need for negative prompts. However, I did create a video for Leonardo AI that includes a prompt generator for negative prompts. It was uploaded awhile ago, but it still works: ua-cam.com/video/7DwS63S-Qxk/v-deo.html
@metricsmule I did the paid plan and got my book finished. It was a bit better. Some generations were correct on the first try and some took 500 tokens. The book is awesome. The only issues with leonardo was in the alchemy upgrade. 8 out of 10 upgrages added 10-20 years on the characters. There was considerable extra fingers, crossed eyes, missing legs etc. However, the end product is really good.

Great question. Canva just added a ton of new features and a lot specifically for video, video editing, etc. You can now do a lot of things in Canva, just like CapCut. Not everyone has access to it all yet, but I was able to. Let me take a look further into the video editing features to make sure.

They look great! Your should try using Runway ML to create lip sync videos to make those same people in your images talk. What are you currently using for the voiceovers and the text? I do also know that Leonardo AI is working behind the scenes to update their Motion video feature.

And it's okay to have a different opinion because that's what it's all about. There will always be people skilled in creating art by drawing and painting. But did you feel the same way when graphic design became a true profession, utilizing tools like Photoshop and Illustrator? It created a new realm of opportunity, graphic design. There are still painters. And now AI is creating a new realm of opportunity.

It'll be interesting to see if Leonardo AI will make it into the Affinity apps as a plugin. I don't think the Affinity API is up to snuff yet, but hopefully, we'll see some improvement in that area.

So if you have a lifetime licensw in Canva and Affinity and membership in Leonardo what does that mean? Haha. Image editing in Affinity and video editing in Canva? Generation in Leonardo?
If they integrate Capcut or Filmora, we can have even better editing across the board.
It's powerful now, but then that would really be amazing. Canva did add a lot of new video editing features in their recent update. I'm not sure if it's all been released yet, but it's getting to Capcut level. But Filmora is awesome. I actually just discovered all of their AI tools you can use in it and have a video coming out soon about it. I wish Final Cut Pro would take note.
So to use both I would have to start up with camera + Leonardo. Not sign up to Leonardo which stands on its own
Currently, they are both standing on their own and from my understanding they still will. However, I still think Leonardo will be integrated into Canva at some point, but I'm not sure if you'll be able to access all of the features. I do have a link in the description to try Canva Pro, free for 30 days if you don't have a paid account yet. If you can swing it, I do highly recommend having accounts for both. Canva, Leonardo AI and Freepik are my top-3 right now.
honestly, I can see that it's just a new app adding as other apps that not really necessary to be added because the website is more important to use than canva web page.
I can see where you're coming from, however I think this time it will be different. According to Canva they plan on really integrating a lot of Leonardo AI into Canva. Plus with them basically announcing that they are providing a lot of financial backing towards Leonardo, they're investing a lot. I don't think other apps in Canva are receiving investments financially from Canva. Leonardo AI, however is. They actually acquired them. But I understand your point. We'll have to wait and see.
I'm not really sure how I feel about this. I love leonardo, but I find Canva already a bit too confusing and unintuitive UI wise. This will only clutter it up more.
I can see what you mean. Canva is so powerful and provides so many awesome tools, it can be hard to find some of the best ones sometimes or how to use them. I do have 40 videos in my Canva playlist, so maybe there might be one for something you need.

Will Canva subscribers have full access to Leonardo, and vice versa? In other words, does it make sense to subscribe to both?
That's a great question. If I had to guess, Canva will probably allow partial access to some things, but in order to take advantage of the full potential you might need to have an account for both. Once it's fully integrated I'll go through every feature available for free.
Many of the apps on Cnava's site do come with additional costs and I suspect full use of Leonardo will be the same.
True. But both are well worth the cost.
My regular pipeline includes all three of these platforms - Leo + Canva + Affinity. So I look forward to seeing what kind of efficiencies and product development this acquisition will bring.

@@metricsmule Affinity Photo is basically a way more affordable version Photoshop. When Adobe went to subscriptions I boycotted them. Affinity Photo is an excellent alternative. Similar suite of programs like Adobe, but reasonably priced. Affinity Photo is great with AI because you can edit images and add text.

Interesting news, but personally I’m still not happy with most of the results I get from Leonardo AI. Imo they really need to work on it making realistic looking skin when creative from a character ref image guide. Also it cannot replicate multiple faces in a ref image without giving them all the same one face. Also the restrictive prompt word feature is overly restrictive. I can’t even type - Full body shot.
Just like everything AI, I have to use work arounds, or trick it into getting my desired result.
I really would like it to do a better job, I reached out for help on how to resolve those 2 issues I’m having, and they did respond by saying use photo real, which I tried with all settings, but the images it throws out still look cartoony with smooth fake looking skin.
I now have to pay for another AI site to make Leonardo’s images look realistic.
I’m close to switching to something like Freepik, otherwise I’m just wasting money without getting what I want.
I hear you. But I do know Leonardo AI is always behind the scenes improving everything. Are you apart of their Discord server? If not, they provide a lot of help, as well as all of the community members. IMO, I get the best results for realistic images when I use AlbedoBase XL, Dynamic and by using keywords based off of artists or directors, like Isaac Levitan, 70mm lens, Meryl McMaster. If you do want to try Freepik, I do have a code where you can use all of the premium AI features for weeks. Just use: METRICSMULE
@@metricsmule Thanks for the info, I’ll try your tips. I know that multiple face replication is hard to achieve across the bored, but I’m really struggling to get anything I want out of it. I’m going to give the model training one more go and see if I can get some realistic stuff out of it.
The strange thing is that if I ask it to create an image without a character reference, the images it creates look great, even the skin. It’s almost like when you use a reference it defaults to smooth unrealistic skin.
Oh, I see what you mean. Have you tried using character reference (set it to high) and then use a style reference or content reference (also set to high or medium) of the style of photo, like a cinematic style or photorealistic? Sometimes I encounter that same problem when using character reference alone.
@@metricsmule Yes, I’ve tried everything. Some of the images are good but the skin is always smooth and not realistic. I’ve ended up using another AI site to run them through and it makes them look much more realistic. When I tried training a model I didn’t have that many images of the 3 characters, but now I’ve created a load using Consistent Character creator so I’m gonna give it another go soon. Leonardo Phoenix doesn't create children story images from last 2 days. Word child, kid, boy, girl is a must to create story characters for these stories. But they have some filter for these words resulting in FAILED GENERATION after costing credits.
Why is it so when stories are Safe Work.

It's amazing that some people don't think beyond the obvious and assess the implications of actions taken by corporations. So, you are excited about the Canva+Leonardo AI collaboration, right? Well, it looks like Canva is headed in the Adobe direction. Canva recently acquired the top Adobe competitor Affinity Suite (Photo, Designer and Publisher, which I own/use happily) and but did they would not change the ownership model to the dreaded and hated subscription model.
Well, it looks like another consolidation move by yet another wannabe Adobe-type mega corporation. Just like a handful of mega-corporations own pretty much all the food and household products sold WORLDWIDE, this constant consolidation kills innovation, reduces consumer choice and gives them enormous power to lobby against and prevent consumer dissatisfaction actions. What people need are more SMEs, not mega-corporate entities with little to no oversight.
I expect Canva to go the way of Adobe -- a massive company that has managed to alienate lots of dedicated users (just look at the current shtstorm they are involved in). So, sorry but I have to disagree with you -- this may be good or even great for Serif and Leonardo AI, but I predict it'll not be that great for users in the future.

Haha you never know! If you Google "how many subscribers does Canva have", you'll have your mind blown. 135 million monthly users (with 16 million on paid plans). And that's only as of 2023.
I find Canva very confusing
They do offer a lot, but it's worth learning. Just stick to learning one thing at a time. Or just pick a few things you want to learn and have a coaching call with someone.
