Rampage Ive been playing poker for over 15 years.
Your leak is your bankroll management. You are one of the most amazing tournament poker players we have ever seen. A rising star! But youve burned yourself out by flying too high to the sun.
Step down in stakes and manage your bankroll tighter. You love to punt and youll even admit you have to gamble to win but your flips are often the underdog hands hoping to get lucky with a bink.
Patience pays. You are trying to make it all back as fast as possible and by chasing the wins you are inevitably forcing losses.
Chill out. Play when you are relaxed and ready not when you feel compelled to make a profit. We love you Rampage youre a great dude. Dont beat yourself up for making mistake just LEARN FROM THEM!
A smart man learns from his mistakes and a wise man learns from the mistakes of others.

"Step down in stakes and manage your bankroll tighter."
Excellent advice.......the best way to be a winning cash game player is to leave the table when you're ahead or behind an amount decided on before you sit down. If you buy in for $1000, leave the game when you have $2500 and leave when you're down $750.
(and also.... play against weaker players, bet bigger with good hands and play less hands)
Most of all, a good poker player needs to have patience and to keep in mind it's a job, not a game.

All Of your advises are total mislead! I ve been in pokerbusiness for over 14 years. The best strategy for winning poker player is being fun, great guy at the table. At beginning show you a gambler, later you catch them with real hand. Bankroll management doesnt matter! Its all in your head! If you wanna make good money in poker you gotta chase loses and play longer hours. Its the key! Be longer at the table than anyone else. Be a captain. Theres more to it, later i will add the..

I love it when people go, "I've been playing poker over 15 years." Like that means any fuckin thing. I've been playing 23 years, and got 1st in a WPT event and then final tabled a $1500 WSOP even 2 months later with 2,300 entrants and final tabled a crapload more tournaments and my stuff is pretty damn good on Hendonmob. ANY jackass can say they've been playing poker blank years but unless you've actually been really successful doing it, your opinions don't mean shit. Now on a side note, SO many of the lines you take Ethan are just unwatchable. I mean, you play passively and meek when you shouldn't WAY more than I've ever seen a "professional" poker player play. And I get it, it's probably cause you're on a downswing and your balls are currently cut off so I get that, but my god man, the mistakes you make on certain streets and certain hands is painful to watch.

    • @BiGTruthNow
      @BiGTruthNow 5 днів тому

@edisons.7637 bro, I been studying poker with solvers and I can tell you poker is easy. All you gotta do is to make your opponent guess what you have. You have to play you hand with various thoughts and challenge the next street. Its all about how you see it. I won over 100 opponents in cash games, I read books about poker and studying modern analysis, Im one of the best poker players no doubt. Now I havent been out there showing myself, cuz I dont wanna brag about it. Im humble dude and I win a lot of course.

Hoping for that lucky big win..oof. it felt like thats what the $1m game was, trying to shortcut out of the hole. Poker is about long term consistency at manageable stakes. You can take the coolers in your stride and play your game when the financial impact of losing isnt crippling. Also it's more fun when you don't have to sweat betting big for the game size or bad beats.

Rampage I hope you read this. You are young and have a great life ahead of you. It might be time to take a break for a little while or completely reduce the size of the games you are playing. Your confidence is clearly shaking and it doesn’t help you are also in a downswing, it’s affecting your mental health and gameplay. I know you have sponsorships and an image to uphold which does make it hard to step away. Maybe start working out regularly to help fight the mental battle because it’s you vs you in the gym and trust me it helps a TON. Praying for you brother.

I think because the greater percentage of your bets are to always go for it, you won most of the time, but that was luck, when you rarely fold. Folding is winning when u guessed it right but a part of you is bothered to have to fold. Negreanue looks like a genius when he folds. Check those percentages, punts versus folds and see, you are set in your ways to always punt. Enjoy folding like it’s a punt and you’ll find the joy again

So when I clicked this video to watch it the first thing I noticed was how lucky you were. I thought to myself look how lucky Rampage is living the dream in Australia. I am so happy that you were honest. You really put something in perspective for me today. Something I needed so bad. I love this game and I have for many years. Knowing that you struggle the same way has really inspired me. I hope you don’t give up because I think you’re a talented player. Humanizing the game the way you are right now. Makes me wanna get out there and fucking make this happen! Wishing you all the best. It’s just a downswing rampage. I know you’re gonna come back strong.! 💪

It's nice to see so much support in the comments for you. I know your comment sections can be pretty brutal at times. Keep at it, and know anyone hating just wants to push themselves up while your down. Poker is an attractive game for people like that because anyone can be down from variance and open to being stomped down. More to do with those people themselves making those comments than you. Keep loving the game and having fun. It's always great to see your journey!

Been playing poker for 23 years Ethan. in 2014, when I actually started trying in tournaments, I cashed in 36% of every tournament I played in, which is obviously an unheard of number. Had I played the entire year of 2014, I would have been #1 in tournament cashes in the entire world according to Hendonmob. And no I'm not making this up. I had it down to a science. The only reason I didn't continue pursuing it was because of my wife and kids. And now that I'm older, I could barely play due to high blood pressure. Anyhow, I wish I could talk to you Ethan just for a few minutes to tell you what I know just in terms of the overall ideology and how you should approach a tournament. If you want that advice, please let me know.

I used to gamble daily at the Hustler casino back in the day. The one thing that made me walk away was getting it in really good and losing so many times. I couldn’t take the swings and I was just sitting there wasting away with the normal crowd. At least you’re UA-cam channels making money and I was just going to a smaller game so it doesn’t put as much pressure on you. That way you can build your UA-cam channel bigger while not putting so much at risk.. best of luck, brother and I can relate for sure

I am no professional, but your playing style is very risky. High reward, massive down swings. In the long term, it's meant to be going down, as poker level keeps on increasing every year. I would suggest to enjoy it while you can and play at a comfortable level, where losing wouldn't keep you awake at night. Also, start hitting the gym, that always help to get rid of bad emotions.

  • @Herr_Sensenmann
    @Herr_Sensenmann 3 дні тому

Ethan, on the off chance you read this, I hope you will consider some advice I can share based on my own life, trials and tribulations. When things get rough, doubt starts to creek in and paranoia follows behind it. It isn't time for you to stop playing poker permanently and if you can afford to, I feel like it wouldn't hurt to take a month or two off from poker and use that time to reflect and focus on your mental health. You are a skilled poker player and I have always appreciated your transparency, maybe a break and vlogs similar to this one with you just traveling will help the fog to clear and get you back into the right mindset. My wife and I own several businesses and a lot of real estate, but we didn't find success until after we hit rock bottom, was at risk of being bankrupt, close to being homeless. There were times we felt that we made massive mistakes as we struggled to keep food on the table and bills paid but we never gave up, we learned from our mistakes and learned how to maximize our resources. After taking a break and trying again, we spent more time planning and focusing on goals and now those are just reminders when things get tough. Hopefully anything I said helps you and provides clarity to some of what you discussed.

Man I felt that at the end man. Sometimes you go through some serious bad spells. You've made great money, but let your youtube, endorsements and sponsors be your income and not poker. Play smaller stakes, sell more action, and just do it to where you don't feel so personally responsible for these decisions.
Also, don't beat yourself up too much. It's great to have standards, but not good to let them crush you.
Fedor Holtz said that when you experience bad beats, sometimes it's good to be appreciative of those... If it wasn't for things like that then the big wins and sun runs wouldn't be nearly as great and it's what makes us love the game of poker.

I personally enjoy hearing you speak on the ups and downs and how they affect your mindset! One of the main reasons why I don't play poker too much anymore is because those losses hurt more than the wins felt good, if you can relate!
You seem to be very content in Australia, so maybe find a crib there to rent or purchase and take a break from the spotlight for 6 months or so!
You have your whole life ahead of you to make money any way you choose! Enjoy all of the things that poker has provided for you, and most importantly, enjoy your life and your woman!!!

Maturing in poker is understanding that different countries stylistically play with a slight variance. Australia has a tall poppy mentality which means everyone will happily challenge you when you appear too confident. The silent confidence is what will win when playing here. Instead of aggressively playing your hands allow the other players to fall in your trap. I know it sounds basic but give it a go.

With that said, I do t think Rampage is a bad player, when he's on his game he's really damn good. But he's gotta take some inventory on some of these hands he's losing with. Q-J, A-2, K-9

K 9 WAS EITHER A SHOVE OR A FOLD. With a stack of 144. 000 you could have easily waited another orbit for at least a small pair or an ace. Tournaments are about staying in as long as possible, not being the first with a big stack. The QJ was a fold too in my eyes. And keep in mind that a minraise game has more variance thank pushing all in with a weak ace or small pair. A lot of people are afraid of just pushing because they think it makes you like like a fish when in reality you take equity from your opponent unless they hold aa kk ak

Playing poker for a living is brutal. Any given 10 hour stretch can be one in which you have NO chance to win, which means any given tournament you might be DEAD before you're even dealt a hand. String a few of those in a row, and it can be downright depressing. Like you, I have a ton of stuff outside of poker to be grateful for, but after a losing session(s) I can rationalize in my head all I want, but I'm still going to be annoyed for a while. The good news is you've always said you're a content creator first, so even when you're losing you're still generating content - don't forget that. And at least the losing is relatable lol

I recommend you create a second channel specifically for travel, finances, life events, and deep thoughts. From my perspective, people tune in for the poker (of which, I actually prefer the tournament play). I think some some commentary that is poker related such as run-bad/sun-run, and path to $1M, etc works. However, Kolas and axe throwing doesn't quite fit the poker vlog genre.

Obviously, you are a solid poker player. Coming from someone in his 50's, you have a great life and aside from your recent results, you are aware of your good situation. I think in poker, you need to re-think the idea of late registration to these tournaments. Grinding a win or a pay-out usually comes from the opportunity and or knowledge you gain in the early hands just as much in the latter stages of any tournament. I still remember that first significant cash during Covid with the 4-4. Stay well as always.

I am genuinely curious why would you max late register for so many tournaments? It seems like you have so few big blinds in those tournaments that you have to go all in rather quickly. Maybe I am missing something, but if I were there playing those types of tournaments, I’d definitely want to get there a bit early play some small pots, shake off the nerves and then get into the bigger blind levels. Just a thought.

You got to work on your skill. When you bluff as often as you do, you will have a high variance that is drawn to the downside as more people catch on to the frequency of your bluffs.

I'd say just work on your timing in hands. Like shoving turn when you had the trips. Don't let them get there... Self doubt is natural and people know your play style so change your play style. Shove with top of your range Like your bluffing and you'll likely get called lite often...
