My great grandfather was a member of the 77th infantry division. He was there during the battle of the argonne. This song brings justice to the lost battalion.

Im not gonna lie....I laugh a little harder than I should have. Im a soldier and this is about the level of humor we exhibit.

I remember the Argonne, 1918.
The sounds of that battle still haunt me to this day.
Machine gun fire from enemy lines.
The sickening sound of a bayonet tearing through human flesh.
The soldier next to me, firing his sidearm in desperation.
All these sounds still echo in my mind, and as conducted by death himself, it all comes together as music.

My favorite quote from the movie "Lost Battalion" about the exact same thing as the song, was the Captain saying "The only reason I stayed was because I realized the longer I stayed the sooner the war would end, and less people would have to die."

I love Sabaton and it makes me very happy to listen to their songs with a different voice a different style. You made a good job. I like it a lot when you use your melodic voice but also when you use a more "male" kind of voice. I'm impressed!
I'm not sure if I have mentioned this before, but both your vocals and the videos have really progressed since you started posting on UA-cam. The balance and rhythm of the images here work to emphasize the cover. It is pretty cool to be able to see that progression happening with an artist.

You know, your Sabaton covers are really special, because - like Joakim - you really roll the Rs in that distinctive broguish way that makes it sound almost Scottish. It means a lot to me, because as a Scot, I just love that feature of our accent that carries into the Nordic accents. Here, the tendency is for Scots to affect an Irish accent while singing: too many of our singers lose the brogue. So even though Sabaton are thoroughly Scandinavian, I feel a connection through Joakim's glorious voice.
If you return to Sabaton - I hope you do, your alto is absolutely brilliant - I'd love it if you keep rolling those Rs. I'd also love to see you try a Scottish metal band like Alestorm, Holocaust, or Nazareth. If you feel like something fun & silly, there's always Gloryhammer's "The Unicorn Invasion of Dundee"!
