I think one of the reasons TSO is my favorite, is because they are unbelievably profound. They deal with major emotions and fears, and address them in a powerful human way.
That's what I love about Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The music, the emotion, etc. I remember bawling like a baby the first time I heard *"There Was A Life".* 😭
I'm a huge Savatage fan and the evolution from then til now astounds me. As much as I would love to see Savatage put out new music, I can't wait for TSO to do the same
"On this night take my hand, keep me near, keep me close. And if I should die first, could I not be your ghost? But if later in life we should happen to meet, would you keep me so near you could hear my heartbeat? There are reasons to live, there are reasons to die, but the end's not the end while you're still alive..." Easily my favorite vocal song on the album - SO powerful! You don't hear lyrics like THAT on the radio, unfortunately. I would absolutely love to hear Rob sing this live!
I know! The first time I heard this song, by this point in the song, I'm just bawling like a baby. I don't know what it was (is) about the song that made me cry.
I started listening to this album a while ago and when I reached this song, it was like hitting a brick wall. I listened to it maybe 30 times before moving on to the next few tracks, and then I ran into Epiphany (another Rob Evan song) and it was the same experience. What an incredible pair of songs, and what an incredible singer. I really hope he's involved in their next album.
Im not closed minded or anything but you guys are funny as a clown. I can't get into the voice... But the lyrics are okay. Time and distance is way better. Just imagining people crying about this is hilarious. This is one of my favorite bands except most of the ones with words.
when i first heard tso's other music outside of their christmas stuff which is where i originally found them years ago, I was shocked at how awesome and different their music is, After discovering this stuff I never listened to their christmas albums again XD
I swear, I keep saying "they can't top this" because every time I say it, THEY TOTALLY DO. I'm not the type that normally cries at entertainment, but this song, "Epiphany" and "Old City Bar" I cannot make it through without bawling.
The only thing that could be more epic than a BNL/NC concert tour would be a concert tour of the Savatage album Dead Winter Dead. I would give a right arm to hear Rob Evan belt out "This Isn't What We Meant." Not to mention that if you love TSO, you have Dead Winter Dead to thank for its existence =D
Again in the darkness of my room. Crying, begging for an end. This song plays drowning my pain I am tired , so very tired. Where did I go wrong. Where did i lose myself, my sense of being. My happiness. My joy My will to live. Now I'm trapped d Desperately wanting to run away from life But fearful of what lies on the other side
I think my spirit would be very grateful if people who loves me would listen to this piece and remember me. I guess it is the only thing I wish for myself
to quote someone I can't remember " great for the album not so much for the stage" that last note in "Alive " would blow out any well trained singers vocal cords if done repeatedly . I speak from experience. I love this song though, and if anyone could pull it off it'd be Rob.
This song is full of emotion , deep lyrics , and a voice that cuts right thruw the soul like a knife .... what a true masterpiece ! :) This sure will be one hell of a hard song if some band ever tries too cover it. Then again why would you since it can only end up worse anyway :)
@Seattlecarnut I'm hoping Romanov: What Kings Must Whisper does the trick. From what I've been hearing, it's going to be full stroke Broadway and I can hardly wait.
I generally don't like TSO's christmas songs. Night Castle is the only album I make a point of listening to, and this is my favorite song on it. 'Have you ever walked up to the edge of a cliff, stared into the abyss as your mind wonders if you should one last step further into that night well your mind says you won't but your heart says you might' Yes. Yes I have.

+VRychenrollV I *love* TSO. I've never seen them in concert. I'll bet they're *awesome!*
You HAVE to see them! They're breathtaking in concert. See them on their next winter tour.
Jason Carpp please go do yourself a favor and see them they are amazing
I don't know what they're going to do now, now that Paul O'Neil is gone. I hope they continue to produce great music.
"On this night take my hand, keep me near, keep me close. And if I should die first, could I not be your ghost? Yup, now just imagine Rob Evan performing this live. Mind=blown. Can't wait for them to bring Night Castle to the stage...
It still hasn't happened. I would travel across the country to see it.
Last last high note shakes my soul. It paired with the lyrics he is singing.
I love this song. I never get tired of listening. The emotion, the music, the story.
Found you again
2021, and still touches our hearts like nothing we’ve heard before

The first time I heard this song, I broke down crying, which doesn't happen very often.
Jason Carpp this is my first time and I'm crying too, it's so emotional
Im not closed minded or anything but you guys are funny as a clown. I can't get into the voice... But the lyrics are okay. Time and distance is way better. Just imagining people crying about this is hilarious. This is one of my favorite bands except most of the ones with words.
I try to listen to it..... I guess it was made for people with your tastes not mine.
@@ItsJustRey20 I know! Every time I listen, I cry like a baby.
You REALLY like Trans Siberia orchestra I think
Powerful music!
saw them live 2 weeks ago. bought this album. soooooooooooo awesome
Yes. I agree. I'd like to hear this, live, too.
Again, very, very powerful.
2020 true fans!
when i first heard tso's other music outside of their christmas stuff which is where i originally found them years ago, I was shocked at how awesome and different their music is, After discovering this stuff I never listened to their christmas albums again XD

Love this song! My cousin showed it to me!
Again in the darkness of my room. Crying, begging for an end. This song plays drowning my pain
I am tired , so very tired. Where did I go wrong. Where did i lose myself, my sense of being. My happiness. My joy
My will to live.
Now I'm trapped d
Desperately wanting to run away from life
But fearful of what lies on the other side
I hope you're doing okay now
It's almost ten minutes long and still not long enough.
have you heard Epiphany?
I think my spirit would be very grateful if people who loves me would listen to this piece and remember me. I guess it is the only thing I wish for myself
Rob Evan, two words: "epic performance" ...
to quote someone I can't remember " great for the album not so much for the stage" that last note in "Alive " would blow out any well trained singers vocal cords if done repeatedly . I speak from experience. I love this song though, and if anyone could pull it off it'd be Rob.
I would love to see them do this live
This song is very powerful. Wow.
I didn't think they were capable of topping Beethoven's Last Night. Then I bought THIS.
OH MY GOD.
Those are the only words I have.
OH. MY. GOD.
This song is full of emotion , deep lyrics , and a voice that cuts right thruw the soul like a knife .... what a true masterpiece ! :)
This sure will be one hell of a hard song if some band ever tries too cover it.
Then again why would you since it can only end up worse anyway :)
Wow wow wow! Oh yeah, and WOW!
I saw them live in 2009, I don't think they did this song when I saw them but overall they are perfect!
It reminds me of a Billy Joel song that I can't remember the name of right now.
I wish there was a lyrical video for this song
Do you mean a video where the lyrics are on screen and follow the song? I could possibly work on that
the lyrics are in the description. 😊
Not the best place to have lyrics. I've always preferred to have lyrics in the video for viewers to see while singing along.
the story of my life....
@draekes Yes, they are thematically similar. Beautiful songs of redemption.
Sounds like Beauty and the Beast So beautiful Romeo and Juliet
So My life right now
I would've loved TSO to perform the music for Les Miserables, the movie. Their music, with Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, etc. singing.
And again
@Seattlecarnut I'm hoping Romanov: What Kings Must Whisper does the trick. From what I've been hearing, it's going to be full stroke Broadway and I can hardly wait.
I generally don't like TSO's christmas songs. Night Castle is the only album I make a point of listening to, and this is my favorite song on it.
'Have you ever walked up to the edge of a cliff,
stared into the abyss as your mind wonders if
you should one last step further into that night
well your mind says you won't but your heart says
you might'
Yes. Yes I have.
TSO needs to tour with JOP, then Savatage would tour for one last time.
Sounds like a Billy Joel song.
@Jason Carpp
Bitch please--bring the cast of the 10th and 25th anniversary concert.
Oh my god they should do a show about ww2
@blackazurite Dislike.
