This is my review of the Satechi Hub with SSD enclosure for the Mac Mini. I have been using this accessory with my M1 Mac Mini and it's been a fantastic device, and this Apple Mac Mini Hub is an accessory that anyone who owns a mac must buy.
It is a great addition to all who are trying to expand the amount of ports offered by the apple mac mini.

I bought a docking station for my mac mini m1 last fall. Everything works. I can even charge my apple watch. Sony x4 headphones work perfectly through the wire. I took the CD from Samsung. The speed is not great, but an additional terabyte of data will never be superfluous

Do your SD card readers work? Currently running macOS Monterey 12.0.1 and it's not working. The SSD works perfectly well which is on a partition one as a TimeMachine backup and the other as an external drive. Micro and SD aren't working for me.
In you using the unit, did you have the issue with the error message "disk wasn't ejected properly" every time the Mac went to sleep
what's the transfer speed comng from the Satechi optional SSD? how fast? Nothing like the speed of the internal SSD of the mac mini but how fast? good enough to edit video? Thanks

I bought this but you know what? I strongly believe the unit is impeding the internet signal from my router to the Mini. As soon as I plug it in to the USB C the internet speed drops.

Other reviews I see show the write/read speed for the SSD is not good. Because this is a type-c dock/hub (5 Gbps), not a thunderbolt dock/hub (40 Gbps). In addition, the M.2 SSD supported is an M.2 "SATA" SSD not an M.2 "NVMe" SSD. If you are looking for performance, thunderbolt dock/hub is where you will get the ultimate performance but it also comes with a price.
I have this Hub for my M1 Mac min. the headphone port doesn't work at all...anyone else have this problem?
I bought this hub and a Western Digital Sata m.2 SSD. The SSD will not slide in I have watched UA-cam videos and seen instructions on the Satechi site. I am very disappointed. Any tips are greatly appreciated but I think the hub is defective.
I have the same unit and a big problem: i get those super annoying "not ejected properly"-message all the time. sometimes 10 times in 5minutes. Anyone know why this happens? I use a western digital ssd mounted in the satechi hub.
Actually samsng evo is a better option and they are not expensive

My M.2 SATA speeds vary from 460 MB/s to about 520 MB/s.

this hub is not powered nore can it be there for kiss your usb bus good bye no worries it will take a bit of time but its going to happen i gaurntee it

I purchased this hub for my M1 mini and the SD ports will not read a card. If I plug an SD adapter into the usbc port on the hub, it works. Any thought son how to fix?
