Agreed this was a long time ago. 1996 classic rock allstars. I mixed this band a few times in the 90's. the drummer is from Rare Earth. Peter Rivera I believe. He was also the lead vocalist for Rare Earth from behind the kit.
Wow, saw this group of major talent in Biloxi, MS in the early 2000's! Rare Earth legend Pete Rivera was especially generous with his time, and wonderful to speak with after the show. This is actually a very hard song to do on stage, but I love its message. It was the ultimate F-U to the music industry that didn't want to give Jerry Corbetta a second chance after his first hit, and became an inspirational song for other bands not to give up after being blown off by the major labels. A lot of real-life references about radio in the song, too.
And here we are decades later and the recording scene with the major labels is even worse. It's no wonder all the songs on the radio sound the same and are mostly crap.
X 2 Thanks for posting this. I saw these guys the year before, in Michigan. They also had Spencer Davis then. So glad I got to meet Peter Rivera and Jerry Corbetta after the show.
That group played Reno all the time. I went to see them once with some other musicians. They were excellent. Got to hang out with Jerry. A truly nice, funny and generous cat. "Green Eyed Lady" has one of the best 'hooks' in all of American pop music. This tune, "Don't Call Us" has a killer hook, too. Go see and support these guys who made all the hits- they aren't gonna live forever.
I'll tell you what - how about I block you from my channel so you won't have to be subject to such atrocities in the future - you can go and watch this performance in the zero other places that it's available on the internet. The only other place that you might be able to watch it is on the nearly 30 year old VHS tape that it was originally sourced from - but the sound is not going to be any better. You're American right?
Love 💕 this version of a great song- Tight Band - great audience- When I moved to San Diego/ I played in a band / then got an offer to work as a Rock Promoter so we didn’t have to ask to play and moved up the Music Latter / Morris/Roberts group/ just google
Today's rock can't touch the old rock...
