gotta be honest, I'm really sad they didn't bring back the original version with the new one, both are just amazing songs on their own, it was probably my favorite from downplay, and it's definitely up there for Starset, especially with Benjamin's performance as well. Hope it eventually comes back, though I doubt it
It’s quite sad that the original version was removed from all the official sources. It’s mainly unfortunate, cuz all the videos of the original on UA-cam seem to have a lot lower quality audio than the official one. Makes me wish I had recorded/downloaded the original one when it was still availible.
Imagine going back in time 10 years and telling someone that in the future, Dustin Bates would re-do this song with BREAKING BENJAMIN... They'd think world peace was finally achieved lmfao
I can’t help but come back to this version… I love both versions, but this original version feels superior to me.. more emotion… it feels far more raw… Seriously wish it wasn’t removed from the album.
@@MattKovalMusic Yeah, I know Ra has a history with Dustin, that's why I wasn't shocked to hear. Glad to hear it! I'll try to look out for it next time

Honestly, this song is amazing. Both the cover AND the original. Though there's a raw emotion the original has that makes me strongly prefer it. But why did it get taken off every streaming platform?
If I had to guess, it would be because Starset is a signed band where Downplay wasn’t. It was probably a label decision to take the song off of Downplay
@@raymejia1827and the old Record Label that tried to make Downplay “play” a certain style; just got the shaft.. the more I look at the re-record; the more I realize they did what Taylor Swift did.. Re-Record and shaft the original Label and Masters owner. 😆🤣
I have been listening to the Starset ft. Breaking Benjamin version of this song for a year and just found out that it was originally done by Downplay (which I had never heard of). I give tons of credit to Downplay for making this song, but the Starset/BB version has a lot more power and emotion in it. Just my opinion.
What's even better is Downplay is pre-STARSET STARSET! Dustin Bates is the singer for both! :D I know this is 6 months old, but if you didn't already know this, now you know!
After Startet's remix, they removed the original song from Downplay's album 'Beyond The Machine' AND from the 'Stripped' album too ... Not sure why they would do that, it's kinda sad. It's the same artist; there is no copyright issue. Right?
Downplay is on Hiatus while two band Members finish University.. that and after the Record label tried to change who they were musically… STARSET is the collective “Middle Finger” And having gone back to the “Downplay” Discography after burning through the 4 Starset albums I bought in August… I can totally see how Most of “Transmissions” was supposed to be a Downplay Album… And technically, they still could since STARSET Lore allows it.. “We can change the future… we can change, the past.”
Technically not. They're officially on a "hiatus", however Starset is pretty much a successor to Downplay since Dustin Bates and Ron DeChant are in it. One member named Trevor Conner unfortunately died in a car accident in 2012, and every other member left to do their own thing. Plus I heard there was some disputes with the record label behind the scenes that more or less forced Bates and DeChant to create a new band. So I wouldn't really consider it "abandoned", but if it is then it's only so be necessity. But you can never say never these days, so if we're lucky then we'll see a Downplay/Starset duo song together where all of the former members of Downplay and all the current members of Starset work together on something. It can be considered Downplay's last hurrah and will finally put the band to rest.
@@dsmith8616 I'm glad Dustin had the integrity to not change his style. I would consider Starset to be the pioneers of a new genre of rock, Sci-Fi Rock, because their style is still distinctly Rock, but putting them in the same category as say Nirvana and MayDay Parade wouldn't be doing either of these bands justice
Most of Transmissions are Downplay songs or remakes of unreleased Downplay songs. All the other songs except for Waiting on the Sky to Change are Starset originals. Although it is the same artist. 2013: Downplay
2022: Starset and Breaking Benjamin
2011 actually
This song is from 2011 but this video was uploaded in 2013
This has more of a Starset vibe to it, it's less Downplay rock and more Starset Cinematic rock. Acoustic is great too!
UndeadChaos550 I totally agree i hope they put this song on the next album such a great song would sound great with their orchestra!
This one, and Edge of the Universe
They remaking this
NEW version coming aug 19th
Aye bro they making a remake of this with starset and breaking Benjamin out tomorrow

Blame the label behind this album for it. There were copyright conflicts so they had to remove it to be able to release the new version.
SOOOO underrated.
I know right
Not anymore. Im glad they decided to remake this, otherwise i would have never found this

Downplay 💗
Listening to this after the remake with BB, it really does sound more Starset than Downplay!
Me too man
The remake with Ra, Breaking Benjamin and Starset is going to be epic🔥
It has Ra in it too? I'm not too shocked at the revelation, I just didn't hear about that

That riff reminds me just like lights out by breaking benjamin imo
