I don't think so... there were two fouls by Carrington against Paige and one was a Charging foul that knocked Paige on her backside... and no calls were made against Carrington on either of those fouls. Remember, the announcers said the Refs told the teams that it was going to be a very "physical" game... I guess that means they wouldn't call every foul... which they obviously didn't. Both teams fouled, and both teams got fouled. Nobody had any "passes"...
@@frankiek2269 oh... I heard, "pass" and automatically assumed it was the same excuse as another comment by someone asserting that UConn and Paige were given a "free pass" to win the final score - like on the last "foul" on Carrington that the refs. didn't call... But you're right, this comment by Jake wasn't like that... thanks!
"we played with God's strength". just when i thought i couldn't possibly like this girl any more. such a great game, fought hard between two very good teams. so excited to watch them both this season!
@Jenna Boreanaz I loved this one too - especially how hard they fought to come back against a bigger, more physical team. I'd like to know how you rate this year's NC State Elite 8 game...
This game changed my opinion of basketball. Now I’m looking back and I can’t believe it was a bubble game with no crowd!!!!? One of the most intense sporting events I’ve watched.
This is a sincere question: does any woman in college or pro shoot off the dribble better than Paige Bueckers? Does any man shoot the floater better? I was a good shooter when I played, but I never mastered the floater. I could shoot off the dribble, but only if I was static when I got the ball. Now, I'll say it: Paige can do what 95% of us, men & women, can't do. Summing up the game: Paige Bueckers went berserk when DD Richards got hurt. In other words, it took an injury to a top defensive player for Paige to get free to make the shots that won this game. Kudos to DD and Paige.
If there was a foul or not will always be up for debate. But I looked closely in slow motion at the positions of the referees at the time and everyone of them had a body between them and the area the foul was said to have occurred. It is almost impossible to see the small area of contention in real time. The network had to look at several angles and in slow motion to see a possible foul. None of the networks views were from directly behind the referees positions. This is one of my biggest dislike about basketball, using intentional fouls to try and win a game.
There are a lot of teams out there, men and women’s, that focuses on the “best shooter” player and I think the other teammates feel like they are obligated to always pass the ball to that player but what I love about UConn is the fact that they don’t do that. Everybody gets to shine and be recognized.
She was charging all her driven shots to the basketball. The blind refs finally had to call it on her in the fourth, IT WAS THAT OBVIOUS. Shes a great player but the charging was sloppy
@@allie4719 agreed. Also, she overlooked wide-open teammates (Nalyssa Smith). Her selfishness was overt and explains why she was a senior transfer out of Stanford.
She wasnt a Senior transfer. She's a grad student transfer. She finished her 4 years at Stanford but due to injury was granted another season @FactsandScienceMatter
W Baylor so sad they lost, but UConn worked hard and so did Baylor! U may lose the battle but you didn’t lose the war! Can’t wait to see them again!😫❤️

16:31 that’s why Baylor would’ve won if not for the injury. Richards is in another level defensively and she was the primary ball handler/playmaker so of course when the head of the snake goes it’s pretty much over.
I've watched a lot of Baylor games. Carrington was the star player for this team by far followed by Dee Dee Richards and Nalyssa Smith. I've played and watched enough games to know sometimes the coaches allow players to turn their shine up, so can't say others are not stars either. They're all good. Also very young too. And coaches make up the deals + plays that let them shine and develop and manage the adverseness of doing what a coach thinks vs. reality of playing and being your own person learning/living/growing hopefully. Okay, long way to say it's not just Richards but much respect and best of luck to her and this particular seasons team.
@@nitelillie I never never said it was just Richards. But her job was to make open looks and drop dimes and initiate the offense and on defense her job was to lock down the best player and just do the dirty work. So with her injuries that’s 2 spots you have to feel while in a game. Nobody was prepared to do that and it was over from there.
ya gotta watch the whole game baller, not just the parts you like....just before Richards got hurt she was doing nothing to stop UConn....her missing after the injury was not the problem... Paige being better than her was the problem
@@mannonmission1 So why did Paige have 10 points on like 30% shooting when Didi left the game. Didi put Pressure on Paige that she hasn’t seen before and when she left nobody was prepared to check Paige. Also look at the play where Didi made Paige dive on the floor and turnt it over which led to her turning it over and got Didi a fast break layup. Didi was all in Paige’s space which made Paige shoot crazy fades and shots she didn’t want to take.
She should've been ejected too for all her taunting. Poor sportsmanship. I don't care how high stakes the game, you do not clap or say comments to other players faces. Bad performance
