But did you know that the King has to appoint the new prime minister before it's official?
King Charles will invite the leader of the party with a majority in the Commons to Buckingham Palace on Friday to form a new government.
It is his duty as head of state to appoint and confirm the prime minister.
Appointing a prime minister is one of the King’s few personal decisions, made without needing advice.
If Sir Keir Starmer leads the Labour Party to victory, he could become the third prime minister of King Charles’s reign.
Liz Truss had the shortest tenure in British history, succeeded by Rishi Sunak six weeks after the King’s accession.
After a busy Holyrood Week in Edinburgh, the King is travelling to Windsor Castle to be on standby.
It will be his first time appointing a prime minister after a General Election, continuing his key constitutional duties.

I cannot claim the Spanish King as my king because he is not my King, Charles III is. An Aussie cannot be loyal to the American Constitution because it is not their constitution. It doesn't make sense, Americano. Support and admiration? Yes. Loyalty and claiming him as your king? No.

If not, I suggest you learn about what Constitutional Monarchy is and who is required to have loyalty to what in nations as well as what a realm and kingdom are. Basically you are trying to apply another country's constitution and governance to your own when you do that. That is why it does not make sense. But anyone can have reverence and respect for a foreign government or King. It is just that it does not apply to you if you are not a subject of that king or a citizen of the respective nation which the government belongs to. Every nation has its own Constitution and that is what determines who Charles reigns over in his respective Realms.
