Many many great guitarist over the years have commented that they include him right near the top in players who can play Rhythm and Lead literally seamlessly like you're listening to two guitars like you said
Every time I see a Rush video or hear one of their masterpieces, I still can't over the fact that Neil is gone. When it comes to all Rush fans like me, we miss him everyday and were shocked when he passed back in January.
One will not hear a better piece of music than that played by these giants from 3:10-4:10, and, man, is Geddy on this night. Utterly mind blowing in complexity and tone. Three men syncing this tightly is unparalleled. We shall not see their like again, I fear.
I just watched that solo. At 4:10 Alex has finished just absolutely destroying everyone with his solo, switches back to the rhythm part, and then the crowd cheers... and he walks forward and seems to yell out "F. Yeah!" It's just awesome to see him so pumped up with how good that was.
Jesus, how good was Geddy on the vocals for this one?😳 Man, he must have been really feeling it that night. Remember this is only about 12 years ago? He really nailed that last part.
I agree James, he was feeling something, you can see it in his body language the rest of the song. He was digging the way that section went and it propelled him, he didnt squeal once in that last section.
Redrocks is a bucket list venue...rush would be the most awesome icing on that cake. Saw this tour at the Pavillion in Houston later that tour. They were awesome and all on their game that night.
I just watched their performance of this from a 1983 show. The instrumental break began at almost the exact same time stamp. Talk about consistency over the years.
Wow...awesome. Geddy nails the bridge too. Those seats seems a little elevated, compared to most venues. Seems to make better video. This recording is terrific. Great quality. I love this homemade stuff along with post-produced material.
Geddy's voice was much stronger on this show than the horrible Cleveland recording released officially. I wish a soundboard of this show was available.
this may be the only shed/arena where the audience in the country where the seats are not lower than the stage, but even with it. It's such a unique dynamic making these guy look human and of normal height rather than giants and superheroes.
I stood on that stage in 1993. Didn't realize how big of a deal it was back then. Never heard of red rocks. I wish I knew. I would have taken it all in more than I did.
Hey great seats I live in Pa and seen Rush last nite in Allentown Pa but I always wanted too red rocks 4 a show i couldnt join u guys this year but i did go and they fuckin rock yet like as good as the very first time i seen em in 1979 If they do come back to colorado I will b there count on it. Great video tnx for posting
I think this was the final show of the tour for them ;......They look tired in this vid and yes Alex sounded sporadic in the solo ( bits n pieces sounded great , or, normal ) BUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!! You could practice this solo for years and still not sound as good as Alex does here!.. And the only person I've ever seen perform this solo better is Alex himself....Hey I've seen them 18 times and they never fail to mesmerize me with their playing
jeffrey hinkel This was the middle of the North American tour that started in Late June and lasted until October before they headed down to South America for a few dates.
@LaszloPanaflex lol thanks - in my defense Lerxst isn't the only one soloing and I wanted to make sure I got some of Ged as well and I panned to Ged and Neil at the end because they usually connect with each other visually. In other words there was a rhyme to my reason ;) In the future I'll probably work on cutting the panning/zooming down a bit as the camera's autofocus is contrast based and as you can see takes a long time to adjust.
Os caras são do balacobaco! Executar a música, que é fantástica, com perfeição, e com todos os detalhes ao vivo, é fazer valer o investimento do ingresso z dos discos comprados, e a admiração que só aumenta.

I had a seventh row right in front of Alex for Snakes & Arrows Which is the show they postponed because of a tornado watch but they called to show way too early before lunchtime and within an hour of calling the show of the forecast changed to perfect weather and I wasn’t able to make the rescheduled show or sell the ticket which i still have… $350 worth of reminder 😞. A month or so earlier there was an F5 tornado up in Greeley so I think that influenced their decision but what a bummer.
Yep we didn’t have great seats for the Snakes show but I flew out from NH for that show and my sister and friend from CA. They picked me up at the airport. It was a downpour and the show was just canceled. It was absolutely gorgeous that night. I remember sitting in the airport the following day or so as they announced the rain date and trying to secure another round trip flight 2 weeks later. Fortunately was able to make it happen. It was expensive but not nearly as bad as what R40 shows cost me 🤦♂️ also the Snakes show being out first time at Red Rocks taught us to try to get seats as close to center stage as possible because off to either of the sides sucks so hard because of the constant foot traffic interrupting your show.
@GonzoDrummer27 thanks! Yes, at Red Rocks the front of the stage is the railing, then there is about a 10 foot wide walkway then the front row benches. So front row you are basically eye to eye, if maybe a foot lower than the stage, however as you can see you are about 15-20 feet from them as well, because you have about a 10 foot wide path in front of you, then the railing, then another 5-10 feet before the front of the stage. So the view is great, but less interaction with the band.
It’s Unfathomable to think that Ged and Alex knew about Neil’s condition. And knowing these would probably be the last shows ever touring together let alone being on earth as friends. For me it would kill me to perform but at the same note give me happiness too. I’m afraid the last 3 to 4 shows let alone the last show would be really emotional.
Dude Neil wasn’t diagnosed until well after the R40 tour ended. They stopped touring because Neil wanted to go out on top while he could still perform not because he was sick.
@@scottmcfeely6426 not because of glioblastoma, something he wasn’t diagnosed with for a year or so after the tour ended. It was his typical issues of recent tours, tennis “drummer” elbow, aches and pains, colds, ear infections etc. The stuff that was driving his decision to hang it up. nothing cancer related.
@@MickAv8r true about the elbow which he has during the presto tour. But l heard an interview with Alex saying he was forgetting some parts from time to time. Neil being the protectionist wasn’t having it. Turn his attention to his daughters drumming. 🙂🙂🙂
@BH101765 No it wasn't that cold there - Alex ditched the coat for the second set. I'm sure they will play Red Rocks again next summer on the Clockwork Angels tour. Only advice I can give on Red Rocks is try to get seats as close to the center as possible, even if far back because the seats off to a side you end up with constant foot traffic which gets really annoying.
Great quality. Two demerits for taking the camera off Alex (twice!) during his solo. Methinks you realized your error, because you nailed it on the next song (Marathon). Thanks for the great footage!
@snapascrew yeah - you have a great view because you are eye level with the band, however I've noticed they don't interact with the crowd as much as they do when they can look down at a closer crowd.
Damn....i miss Rush concerts
How Lifeson seamlessly switches from rhythm to lead is completely sick! He sounds like there are two guitarists.

I think geddy impressed himself with his vocals after the solo
Nah. Raising his arm makes it easier to hit the note. I'm not pulling your leg.
I agree James, he was feeling something, you can see it in his body language the rest of the song. He was digging the way that section went and it propelled him, he didnt squeal once in that last section.
Thank you for these vids from the 2nd row. Geddy is the only guy I see in the band with little or NO wear whatsoever... simply awesome!
Ray Daniels (their manager) has said Geddy is at least 10 years younger than his calendar age. He takes really good care of himself.
His voice has taken plenty of wear, but that's normal.
The best part is 0:00 through 5:28.
LMAO....i just got it.
I agree sir.
😂😂😂😂😂
Redrocks is a bucket list venue...rush would be the most awesome icing on that cake. Saw this tour at the Pavillion in Houston later that tour. They were awesome and all on their game that night.
The look on Lerxst's face after the solo. He is a man possessed!
Best band ever

Man, I wish I could go back in time and relive seeing them live again.
Love these guys
7th Row Center my self Grown men stood with their Sons and Weeped They will ALWAYS mean so much to So many
Incredible quality video, thx for posting!
It's cool how they started off long ago trying to have a look, then stopped trying, then naturally evolved stage themes that really suit them
Wow...awesome. Geddy nails the bridge too.
Those seats seems a little elevated, compared to most venues. Seems to make better video.
This recording is terrific. Great quality. I love this homemade stuff along with post-produced material.
I love how they always crank up Alex's vocal mic on this song! Awesome vid!
Thanks so much for sharing!
❤ ❤... ❤
TIMELESS, quality, passionate musicianship, period.
Geddy's voice was much stronger on this show than the horrible Cleveland recording released officially. I wish a soundboard of this show was available.
Yeah, Geddy couldn’t hit the high notes anymore unfortunately

Was at this show and when they played Red Rocks in '08. The best outdoor venue on Earth.
The Gorge Amphitheater Sept 14, 2002 Vapor Trails tour in George, Washington state.
Whatever you paid for those seats, it was worth it! Amazing to see their faces as they play that song!
What a unique way to see them where they are in front of you at eye level and not above you. VERY cool!!!
I was at this show. First of all I love Rush...but I have to say with great pain, Alex was off his game that night.
We must have seen two different shows. I was there on the 16th. One of the best Rush shows I've seen out of 15.
was there! great show! about 4 rows up on Geddy's side

GEDDYS SHIRT THOUGH !!
i personally love the drumset..
Agreed.

I like the guy back there hitting things with sticks.
What a band.

You can hear Alex quite clearly in the mic at this show I find

Hear, hear

killer quality a/v > saw vancouver last night ,incredible.
Isso é que é um show de rock!

I want to see them at Red Rocks next tour...front row!

Second row! I could only afford the nose bleeder seats. Still awesome!
wow, what cam is that? even the audio is great!
Three Kings!
Hey man, can i have a burned dvd of all your red rocks videos on the time machine tour? I live in so cal btw.
wow, im impressed! sounds great too! i thought they didnt allow fans to video concerts. or prob they just dont really enforce it.

WishpoolVocal i have two of em
You weren't far from me. I was near Alex in the second row.
How many times did geedy wear that shirt... Did anyone notice it.?
Mick, Can you contact me please? I have a question to ask you.
Thank you. Fantastic footage.
Was there ever a better power trio?
@2112rushfan1 buena buena muy original!
I was in the second row also, a little ways to the left of you.
The ultimate doing more with less group of musicians.
The day I go before St Peter, He'll ask why did you miss this Rush show at Red Rocks?
No excuse is worthy, sorry:(
I was front row dead center margarita in ✋
wow the stage is kinda far away that sucks :( like don't get me wrong your 2nd row but 2nd row should be like 5 feet away from the stage not like 15
Amazing Fucking Seats at 1Amazing Venue for 1 AmazingBand. I usually don’t watch phone Videos, but I’m making an Exception for this. : )
MelissasMan6772 this was shot with a digital camera not a phone but still handheld, but why the audio isn’t halfway decent and does clip.
They always crank up the volume and alex's mic for this song.. lol
@SlickSmoot16 wow didn't realize someone already made that comment...LOL
Geddys shirt lol RASH!
Old shirt.
Miss Lee's Rick
PRS sounds better when they play this live except.....for the solo.
Lmfao. His shirt says rash. Instead of rush. Look at geddys shirt
It’s based on a joke from the introductory video preceding the first song of this tour’s sets.
RUSH IN RIO
You're drunk! :) I can tell by the way u work the camera. No worries bro; Been there many times myself. :_)
