This guy's video is the perfect one that showed exactly how to change the transmission pressure sensor. This video is short to the point giving you the steps you need to DIY. I was preparing to remove transmission fluid pan before watching this video. It saved me trouble! I'm happy I changed the sensor and the light is gone! Five stars!
All the other comments say it all...Just wanted to add that the excellent video that shows the little piece you have to push in to release the connector was perfect...Txs
Thanks for a very clear video, I have the same leak on the 545 RFE on my 2007 Grand Cherokee with the 5.7 Hemi, I thought it was from the pan when I changed the fluid several months back but it's actually leaking from the sensor, onto the pan edge. The part I couldn't see well was the 2 nuts holding on the heat shield now I know what to look for! On mine the primary filter had clogged and I had no drive in FWD or REV, after I changed the filters it was fine again, and I did get a low pressure code due to the clogged filter. I also heard that the can filter can get loose and cause problems. Next time I change the fluid I am going to use a pan with a drain plug and a Lube Locker gasket. RTV is a pain, lol.
My 2003 wj grand Cherokee with a 545re was kicking hard from cold start between 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd until it was driven for 10 or 15 minutes then it would shift normally. Originally diagnosed with high line pressure and later faulty pressure sensor. Replaced the sensor ( get an OEM or equivalent ). Hard kicking stopped in lower gears but moved to between 3rd and 4th and continued even when warm every time it shifted. It became less frequent and harsh over the next few days of short trips and then I took it for long drives on the 4th and 5th day. Kicking is completely gone shifting is smooth as silk as it used to be and the revs are lower at cruising speeds. As someone mentioned in the other comments the computer had to relearn with the new sensor as it had been compensating for the faulty one. I recommend a full transmission flush and i use Penrite full synthetic ATF. It boasts 5x smoother shift and you can barely feel the shift through the gears.
Jeep wj 45 rfe gearbox switching from R to D mode is delayed by 1-2 seconds. I opened the automatic transmission, flushed the solenoid block, everything is in good condition. The car stood on the street for 2 years. Could there be a problem in the automatic transmission oil pressure sensor? There are no errors. Sometimes the engine speed drops when the automatic transmission is switched from D to P
The trans is the 545RFE, ChryCo labeled then different. The programming is the only difference between the 45 and 545. Both are actually 6 speed autos; 3 planetarys, 2 gears each = 6 forward gears. You can flash the TCM on 99-02 trans to get the use of all forward ratios.
Great video! Love your step by step instructions and helpful tips. I have a leaking sensor on a 2005 Jeep Liberty Limited. Rock Auto has two OEM sensors for the same transmission. Once I figure out which is for my Jeep, its on!🙂
@JackofSpades it's a process where the Transmisson Control Module "learns" how to adjust its control based upon the behavior of the transmission www.alldata.com/blog-entry-option-3/relearning-and-reprogramming-what-when-and-why
great video it really helped its an easy fix but be prepared for issues lol I put my durango on the ramps did the replacement of the pressure sensor and both speed sensors went to start it all excited hoping I fixed all the issues and got click nothing lol 3 days still looking for wtf I did wrong it must be spectacular as I even stumped google lol
So happy I found you. Lost everything except neutral and park. Codes P0934, Line pressure sensor low, along with code P1684, Battery power disconnected 😭 I am replacing the sensor today. If the connector lead shorted, wouldn't the 20v fuse pop @ power module? Reverse lights still work, all electrical still works. I'll clean the connector with electrical cleaner before re connecting. I can't afford to get Slaamco'd 🙄 Plus a tow 💸💸💸💸💲💸💸💸💸
Thank you. I have a Dodge Dakota that keeps going into limp mode and once I shut it off it will not restart till it cools down. I am praying its the sensor and not the pump. Will check your web site next time for parts. Do I need to do a relearn on the transmission after this? Again thanks.
What is the code usually associated with this? How do you determine if this pressure sensor only needs replacement vs installing a complete kit into the transmission? My transmission indicator light came on yesterday, but i have not had a chance to go to an auto parts store to have the code read on it. My 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 hemi did not go into limp mode, yet. The tranny is properly full and not odor to the transmission fluid. No notable difference in shifting gears prior to this check engine light showing up as it did. Thanks for the video posting, but I would like to have these questions answered if you don't mind. I normally have a code reader, but have one on order, as my son-in-law took my other one. Thanks for any info.
I just checked on my 2006 5.7L Commander, and that fluid pressure sensor is on the driver's side about mid way along tranny and up towards the bell housing of the tranny. It's in a harder to reach than this older model durango since the front diff drive shaft is in the way and is also partially blocked by the exhaust pipe as well. it's going to be a hard reach for me to get that connector undone. But thanks for showing this video and giving me an idea of where this is located- and NOT inside it.

Same issue I'm having. And I just had a motor put in mine. I'm gonna try this. I have code p0868. For fluid like pressure. It could be internal faults as fluid pump or bad seals
Excellent video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us. I have a 2006 Jeep grand Cherokee Overland with the 5.7 L Hemi.. from other documents that I have observed I thought there were four pressure sensor switches inside the transmission fluid pan where the filter goes. Can anyone verify if this is accurate?

I'm throwing money at this since po841 code showed up and i'm not getting into gear, almost like limp mode and I have to rev up my motor before it catches and then it feels like it's in 4wheel low... obviously not driving anywhere until this gets changed out alongwith the fluid change and both filters. Praying this fixes the overnight issue this vehicle developed overnight
i have reverse that works by itself unless on incline or if i hit gas. drive works perfect unless it jumps after first cold start of the day then it slips a lil for 2 miles or so. is this a sensor issue? i have aftermarket exhaust it could have melted the sensor
Hello. Thank u for your video. I'm having trouble with my 545 RFE 2010. It wont go into reverse. It drives forward fine in all other gears. Dodge didnt even give me any codes. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.
I keep getting my trans temp light popping on every now and then but almost daily now. everything you would think to check i have checked and narrowed it down to either a sensor or the trans auxiliary radiator( or whatever you would call that) fan dying. anyone have any thoughts on this? any help is greatly appreciated!
Do you have the part number for this sensor? I am having issues finding an auto parts store that has it listed on their site, or is this a dealer part only?
I just changed my transmission valve body and replaced all the filters in my 2002 JGC 4.7 v8. It ran great all day. The next morning replaced the ps pump bc it was leaking. I turn the jeep on and it blew out ps fluid out of my trans oil cooler.
2002 and early 2003 Jeep Liberty with the 3.7L V6 will have the 45RFE. From 2003 on they will have the 42RLE, except the diesel (CRD) which will have the 545RFE.
