@@timtense sorry I just saw this now, I LOVED IT! I did the 3-day Ala Kul hike and it was the best hike I've ever done in my life... Tbh I get sad watching this video now again bc it makes me miss Karakol. My pfp is actually from Karakol Valley on day 1 of the Ala Kul hike! And also Kyrgyzstan is now my 2nd favourite country out of the 37 I've visited and I really was not expecting it, like I was super scared and apprehensive watching yt videos about it before my trip and listening to ppl react negatively when I'd tell them I was going there, but I'm so glad I ignored and went anyway haha😂

@@timtense yeah for sure, and its so crazy people were concerned for my safety when actually I got catcalled and harassed in italy several times but 0 times for my whole month in central asia.... and noooo I only really had one day in the city of Karakol itself, I met some people in my hostel when I was in Karakol and we went to a Kazakh restaurant that was recommended to us, couldn't pass up on the offer of eating deliciousss horse meat!!! youre welcome!

As for the national drinks мaksym, chalap and aralash, I like chalap (white) the most, it quenches thirst well in the heat (or after a hangover) 😂. maksym is like liquid bread (a nutritious drink). Personally, I don't really like aralash
Hi there, thanks for watching. Which apartment fo you mean? I was staying in a hotel in Karakol. Sometimes I book an apartment through Airbnb like when I was in Bishkek.
@@timtense ah okay. I'm keen to try out staying in Bishkek for about 2-3 months while working remotely, but airbnb prices are very expensive (tourist price) whereas I prefer to find those cheap $300usd per month apartments. I guess the only way is to find someone who knows Russian to help me out.
Okay, I see what you mean. I guess if it's in the off-season you could try to negotiate a price with an airbnb host, I'm sure they will give you a better price for long-term rent.
