Seriously? The Backbone and Soul of this nation, huh? An extremist racist view, rational minds would argue. First off, don't discount black Americans as African immigrants (legally, that's what the hyphen indicates! STAND UP for the 14th Amendment! You don't see ignorant white people calling themselves "European-Americans unless they're so stupid as to vote for Biden or Fetterman) Secondly, America TRULY is richer because of BLACK American culture in countless ways and it SHOULD be celebrated but not in an indignant way as the politicians do today ONLY to garner Black votes just to forget them after the election (See Obama, Feinstein, Pelosi, Schumer, and so many countless ones). But by claiming it is the backbone and soul of the country, you COMPLETELY disrespect and discount the hundreds of thousands of white people who sacrificed ALL to end slavery in this nation and fight for civil rights. What? Are they the appendix? Or the little piggy that went wee-wee-wee-all-the-way-home??? Racial harmony will ONLY occur when there is an HONEST 2-WAY conversation. MLK would be ashamed of 1619 & CRT. Black Americans have contributed to American society in incredible ways, but they never were the backbone and soul, the majority of America was against slave-holding (hence the 2/3rds clause in the Constitution to prevent Southern Slave-Owners from over-powering the North). That's your CRT talking, not reality. BTW - I >>DO
I appreciate you positing this , this is the classic era of Los Angeles comedy , before I was old enough to go in the clubs , robin was clearly influenced by flip Wilson , to see all the famous actors grace that stage in one night is amazing . Salute the comedy act theatre
Great show! Thanks for sharing. The only surprise was seeing Overton! He's very underrated. Cheryl Lee-Ralph has held it down! She is Beautiful! Myra J was an awesome flashback, and Rocked the Shiggity out of her natural. Mr. Reynaldo Ray will always be astounding. With energy abounding today as yesterday, respect to the Great Robin Harris! Lift in Love.
I remember seeing him in person and the whole time has us laughing from the beginning to the end this was in 1987 the first time I saw him i still have his autograph and his picture
He played a major role in Bernie macs career they were from chi and from the same area he was a close friend to Mac hence while that role in house party 3 was personal. Mac once said in a interview Harris did a show not to long before he died and Mac was supposed to open but due to some reason Mac was didn’t. He said Robin came to him and told him don’t worry he was great and his time was coming. I suggest the we don’t die we multiply it’s a documentary about Robin Harris I think it’s on UA-cam.
@@PeteMcCorvey were Robin used to frequently visit Chicago, where he ultimately met a young Bernie Mac, and helped him throughout his career same as DL Huguley with Robyn Harris he was several comedians mentor
I see a lot of comments about a black man in a dress. Back in the 70's,80's and 90's this was considered entertainment in comedy. This show is from 1987 not 2006. Times were VERY different back then compared to now. Another black comedian by the name of Flip Wilson, had a variety show. He had a recurring character named Geraldine. Yes it was him dress as a woman. The show ran from 1970-74. It was a funny show. Someone commented that Dave and Katt have spoken about Hollywood and feminizing black men. But those comments are from recent years. Not from back then. My point is times were very different back then compared to now. Life is different now from back then. There are many men walking around the streets wearing dresses today and its acceptable by many. You wouldn't be caught dead walking around the streets in a dress back then. In a comedy skit it was accepted NOT on streets of America. Tyler Perry is a wealthy man today because of many things. House of Payne is part of it but so is Madea. She is his creation not Hollywood. He says she is a combination of his aunt and mother and he enjoyed the opportunity to pay homage to these two women.
Some of us men are terrible, I left the club one night, went by my baby moms place, we did it, I kissed my kids, 6 and 4, and went home. She and I were better off apart. Our kids are 23 and 21 now.
I remember Don Reed came to my school for the freshman talent show and got booed off. He also made the mistake of trying to crack jokes at the Que dogs. This was literary the only time in my life ive seen someone get hit with food. People were throwing oranges at the stage. That was 91. I don’t think dude ever worked again after that.
Robin Harris is funny hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Robin Harris(RIP), Bernie Mac(RIP), Eddie Murphy, Chris Tucker, Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Eddie Griffin, Steve Harvey are my favorite black comedians.
@@joshmay2944 What's funny about a man, particularly a BLACK MAN, having to put on a dress to be entertaining? Other comedians (Katt Williams, Dave Chappelle) have even spoken about the Hollywood ritual of putting black men in women's wear. You see no problem with it because you must identify and agree with the lifestyle.

African American history and culture is the backbone/soul of this nation.
Real shit.

1987.
Myra was good
So Robin was already groomed and prepared for Hollywood. He had "put on the dress" long before Martin or the Wayans.
It's called entertainment and he did it to be funny. There's no grooming to it.
