Drinking Butter To Survive Below 0°F
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 лип 2024
- In this video, Tayson and the Outdoor Vitals team are out cross-country skiing and backpacking in high elevations. The temperatures dipping below 0 degrees Fahrenheit, with the winds rising, and the snow blowing in and out, they set up a sizeable hot tent and experiment with food, working to find out if in fact eating extra calories (adding things like butter) right before bed will keep them warm in their sleeping bags throughout the night. Will it be a winter camping hot tent success? Or a winter backpacking disaster?

I think more videos need just chaotic natural conversation and banter like this one. More fun to watch imo. Great video
Stowaway Gourmet is hands down some of the best tasting backpacking meals out there.
My favourite backpacking food here in New Zealand is Radix, their 800 calorie range is very good and very focused on nutrition and digestion. Starting with the PCT I’m about to start hiking in the US every summer from next year now that I can and would love to see my favourite food supplied out there. I know you can order it online from the US but don’t think it’s stocked over there. Enjoy the channel, it’s a great mix of trips and advice
Tayson, you’re killing us here in the east. Here you are with all this beautiful snow, and all we have is rain and more rain!
Sorry!!
BTW, this is one of my favorite vids you guys have done. I can live out in the snow through videos like this. Thanks to Dan Becker for making sure I got to know Outdoor Vitals. Now to order a couple of the new pads! Amazing price point for one of your excellent products!
Tip: Ghee over Butter. More fat, more Calories, will not spoil and good for lactose intolerants.
Ghee is More Ultra Light than Butter.
Good to know
I hope those prototype? windbreakers are hitting the website soonish....or is that a new green colorway for the Vario that Tayson's wearing?
Soon ..ish :)
Hot Cocoa with butter!
Mmmm!
😋
I hope you all will consider adding Next Mile Meals!! They're great...even without butter, but I bet they'd be great with it too!
I have to admit I have liked every ReadyWise meal they make. For me the only drawback is they take twice the water to hydrate vs. others.
Always very amazed, impressed, and inspired to winter camp after seeing these videos. And believe it or not I have to say I'm really liking the classic Ramen Bomb as training food. Was totally surprised how good it was the first time I tried it. I did one overnight camp in the back yard this winter and the lowest recored temp was 21º F, so the next step is to get out on the trial in winter for an overnight.
Real life crazy. Think I will tell my doctor about my new menu. Lol
Keep getting out there in the cold. This was way more dramatic than it really needs to be.
Packit Gourmet!
Pinnacle backpacking food is the absolute best.
A few people have said that.
Looks like a fun time
It was!
Greta video. Our favorite backpacking food is Trailtopia. Their Teriyaki Chicken and Rice is amazing.
Thanks
Unfortunately for me, I can’t have any dehydrated packaged meals that have onion and garlic…I’m also gluten free. I make my own chili, pasta primavera and spaghetti (sauce is Fody). I need to build my menu.
Excited to try the butter in hot cocoa though.
For variety try coconut oil in the hot cocoa.
Thanks for the tip!
Pinnacle foods and Packit Guormet would be an awesome addition to the member exclusive list. Are those the new packs I see?
Pinnacle told us they were too small to add more retailers! Hopefully soon we can add them!
As for the pack... Maybe ..
This is a great fun inspiration video to watch. I loved the question. Have you ever buttered a nut.
Thanks
Correct me if I'm wrong, but those bags don't look like shadowlights, is a new pack in the works???🧐🧐
I wish I could join you sometime! Tayson, your beard is impressive
I wish we could make that happen! But you can join the OV 100 challenge with us! It's the closest thing we can do so far for everyone!
Have you guys tried heavens harvest yet? I haven't yet personally, I like peak refuel though.
No lie I'm a fan of ReadyWise. It's not great but not bad. The price is a big reason I buy it.
Is this in the cedar breaks/brian head area? I'm local to parowan. Love your guys videos.
Closer to Navajo Res at the Winter Recreation Area up there!
Where can I get that titanium wood stove? That thing is awesome!
Seek Outside
Check Pomoly stoves
I tried the exact same ReadyWise Chicken Alfredo a few weeks ago - it contains quite a bit of chicken but the taste was just sooo bland. I couldn't finish it either.
Thanks for the feedback
A new white pack on the horizon? Mmm I wonder
