  • Good Morning, Reptilians! This week is just kind of a supplemental video to the video from a couple days ago ( • Best Bioactive I've Ev... ). In that video, we focused on actually building the tank, so in this video, we're only looking at how to build the background. Hopefully this video is helpful!
    This background can be used in so many different tanks! This one was used for a cave gecko, but it can also be used for things like crested geckos, dart frogs, and even leopard geckos.

    You two did an amazing job. Hard to believe that was your first time it looks like something purchased from a a company. Did you glue the coco fiber to the background in one sitting or was that several sessions. It seems extremely tedious.

    So when applying the silicone it's actually best to use a paint brush or use one of the rubber basting brushes and then you do not have sticky hands

    • @ellesreptiles
      @ellesreptiles  2 роки тому

      I've never thought about using a paintbrush. Wouldn't it start to clump/dry in the bristles though? Or I guess you could just buy a large pack of cheap ones 🤔

    I built something a little similar to this thanks to your vid! What plants can grow on the walls? I’m considering cutting into it so that it could fit a tiny pot. I don’t think the wall will be thick enough really?

    I'm really wanting to do a 3d with a tall 40 gallon aquarium. Its 12 inch wide though and a little iffy about spraying foam onto the glass. Afraid of getting mold between the foam and glass. Definently would do a false bottom for drainage. Again just iffy about it with concern to mold. Trying to figure out a way to do a 3d with out spraying foam against glass. Any ideas

    Gosh idk where to start. I've got two Leo's I wanna build bioactive backgrounds with 3d naturalistic backgrounds that allows them some arboreal climbing space because they do enjoy climbing and exploring. My leo had to have his tail amputated so I took apart his tank and set him up a 25 gal quarantine setup. He is a big boy but is fine temporarily until he has his mansion set up! And I have a much younger year old gecko I got not too long ago in a quarantine setup too, classic and unattractive, kind of bare min with extra hides because I want him to adjust to the environment first. My leo is 10 years old. He healed up great, I just have had so much happen past few months so haven't started the backgrounds. I need motivation and inspo! I need ELI5 guides too

    Good morning Elle, I reeeeally hope you take the time to read this comment. I came across your Top 5 Beginner Lizards video from 2 years ago from a quick youtube search. I was looking for an informative video to compile a list for a facebook group that I run, and your video was number 3 on youtube. I want to ask if you are in facebook? And if so I would love and would be honored if you would join our group. It is nothing like any other reptile facebook group, I can assure you that. It was a group that was started 2 years ago do to the lack of diversity in the herp hobby, and a place where African Americans can feel comfortable and realize that hey I'm not the only person like me who loves reptiles. The community is 6,000+ members strong at this point with members all over the USA and a few countries outside of the country. We have a few big name people known in the hobby in there, but name dropping isn't important because we have a real friendly, community vibe where no one is more important than anyone else. I do not want to talk your head off lol. But I would love to have you be a part of the community. Or I'd love to send you some merch from the group. We go by B.R.O. (Black Reptile Owners) Take care, I am now a subscriber as well. Thank you for taking the time to read this comment
