LOL thank you Lyne! 🙏🏻❤️ We’ve had people drive past and wave, and toot their horns which is always lovely. We’ve also had people pull over to say Hi and to chat. We’ve even had people pull over and give us snacks! The Islanders have been magnificent! ❤️🇨🇦
An unseasonably hot September it was. Good for you two for oushing through. If only a person could bottle some of the excess heat to use in cold days like today. Lovely to see a stop at Heart and Soil, and the little Yankee Gale church. There used to be a path behind the church to some fantastic cliff views. Not sure if it is still passable, I haven't been in 3 years or so.
The Yankee Gale church was utterly lovely, and what a sad tale and event it was. To be fair a few of the churches on the Island have played a part in our adventure. Usually providing a place to rest up, or to shelter from some of the more challenging weather 😂. We’ve also come across countless little gems and curiosities. Its been such a fascinating and interesting journey
There is nothing more difficult than to face a long walk on a very hot day and no breeze and little shade but the Adorable Trundlers, Keith & Tina did it. You are getting stronger and conquering the Island Way👏 Thank you for taking us along🙏💖🙏
Thank you Aida 🙏🏻❤️❤️. One interesting feature that we’ve become acutely aware of here on PEI, and of course is the case in many parts of Canada and The States, but not particularly in Europe, and most certainly not in Ireland… very loooooong and straight roads 😅😂. We’ve seen them on movies, of course. An endlessly long, utterly straight country road, stretching as far as you can see, but PEI was our first physical encounter with them. They have their own mesmerising charm, but when you’re walking down one on a hot sunny day… 🥵😂
Well, another great video. A real endurance day, for you two. Really hot days, for September. Looking at the map, you are so close to the water, but the road curves away from it. Keep on going!! I can see why so few do the whole trail, must be tough to have that much devotion, and time to do it!
LOL it’s gone the other way now Matilda. It was freezing today 🌧️🌧️🐌🌧️🌧️😂 Yeah you sometimes get tantalizingly close to it and then can’t get there. We’re down to single figures with days now. We need to catch up with videos 🤦🏼♂️
@@ChonkyTrundlers well that is a change, not bad if it is cooler, but not good if it is freezing out! Have you two, ever woke up and said I think that is enough? Doing a few days is one thing, but really has to be difficult day, after day, though I know you have days off! Some of the days look really nice, other, I be you wish you could have skipped. Either way, enjoying your journey...enjoy seeing some of the places we went to to, or at least drove by. So much to see, and do on PEI...we stayed in Victoria, and Darnley, so know those areas well, as Charlottetown, nice city..had to go see the Anne show!
That’s a really good question Matilda. Absolutely, there are some days where we’re on a huge high because we’ve just had some sort of epic day: a North Cape, or Cavendish Beach kind of day. But for sure there are some days where we’ve taken a beating: a seemingly endless long straight road walk in baking heat, or pouring rain and wind kind of days. So we do have days that are much more fun, or enjoyable than others for sure. Also we’re the same as everyone else of course. We’ve got lives where stuff happens, our maybe it’s just “one of those days” kind of thing. But we don’t ever wake up and say we’ve had enough. If one of us is having an off day, the other one is there to pull the other through. And we love love love what we do. We are acutely aware that we are unbelievably lucky. And the worst day of walking is always going to beat the best day in an office 😂. We prepare as much as we can physically, and mentally, for whatever the adventure is. We knew the Island Walk would be tough, for us at least. It’s no Appalachian Trail, or Pacific Crest Trail. But it is over twice the size of our last long distance hike and we genuinely weren’t sure we were up to it. But we’ve got lots of plans and dreams and this was one of them. We are not typical long distance hikers. We’re noticeably chonky for starters, and only a couple of months ago 10 miles was a line we just struggled and struggled to get past. But we’d like to show that if we can do something, other people who are also not perhaps at first glance, your usual adventurers, can do it as well. That and we are unbelievably stubborn 😉😂. But it was a really good question and we’re glad you asked ❤️
@@ChonkyTrundlers keep going!! Stubborn at times, it is a great British trait, that served you well. My wife and I are British stock, and had fathers who served in WW2! Now there were some determined people. Good for you, and Tina. years from now, you will remember this journey, maybe the good parts, more than the not so good ones. I like watching the videos of the walkers, and the cyclists who have done the trail. The group of ladies who do a section every week..that is a great story, going with a group of friends..awesome. It is better, having two of you, easier to keep going.
Thanks Susan, and the honesty on the walks is something that’s very important to us. We genuinely see the good wherever we can, but we also don’t want to misrepresent something. If we found it hard, or if there’s something we didn’t like, we’re going to say it. What we don’t want is someone to follow us and then have a problem because we didn’t say something at the time. Of course just because we strident mean to say you will, but at least it will be on your radar and you know about it before you go 👍🏼❤️
Good question, as always, Susan. The hard shoulders (are they called the same in Canada and the States?) are a big help, and in most cases they are a decent size and allow you to get off the road when needed. However, sometimes they are on a slight slope, which will eventually lead to you feet being pushed to one side in your shoes. So for prolonged periods it can be a bit uncomfortable. Plus if they’re wet, they can be a bit slippery. It’s something we will cover in more detail in the wrap-up video too 👍🏼🙏🏼
I love your positive attitude! If I lived closer, I would drive by to cheer you on.

lol thank you Paula. Well we got our wish. We were freezing today 😂 We got hammered with rain from the get-go today 🌧️🐌🌧️
@@ChonkyTrundlers omg one extreme to the other!! Hope you are ok. 👍
@@ChonkyTrundlersOh, so sorry to hear it😢
Yeah, all good. We’d take a chilly day over a hot one any day. You can (usually) warm up, but cooling down is a whole bigger problem 😂

Question: it looks like there is grass besides the road but you aren’t walking on it. Is there a reason?
