I believe that's mostly because in many cases the lists aren't written by the presenters. So you will indeed have presenters talking about games they haven't played, because the list isn't their own opinion. Jules does seem to have played every game he talks about though, so either that's the case or he's just really diligent about researching and/or crafting his content when it covers something he hasn't experienced.
Suggestion: Bizarre or unexpected Video game romance partners, that you wouldn't have normally thought of. Admittedly, this comes from how long I spent in FFVII trying to get the elusive Gold Saucer date scene with Barrett.
7 times a Frying Pan was an excellent weapon Phantasy Star Online had one of these with Akiko's Wok. While it took running through a few quests to acquire, it isn't too difficult to obtain. What makes it such an amazing weapon is several things. First, it's classified as a saber, which means anyone can equip it. Second, it has one of the most useful special attacks that almost anyone can use, and that's TP drain. As long as that attack hit, you regained TP (basically mana). And for most characters, TP was your source of healing. Lastly, it still has a solid Attack Power value so even Forces (the spellcasters) can bonk enemies when they want to conserve their TP.
No mention of the Boots of Blinding speed in Morrowind? You can't see anything when you wear them, unless you get resist magick. That item makes getting around Morrowind so much faster and it also works when flying.
I am a huge Destiny player and would like to mention old vanilla Destiny 1 Gjhalihorn, a rocket launcher that was sold by a mysterious dude on the first week and because no one knew who he was and due to the scarcity of heavy ammo people thought Gjhalihorn would be useless but it turned out to completely break the game and community quickly becoming the best dps weapon out in the game and it continued to do that in the rise of iron expansion and some in Destiny 2!
I can think of 2 in Castlevania Portrait Of Ruin that instantly come to mind - the Paper Airplane and the Pie. Both are totally useless at the start, but like the other Sun weapons, the more you use them, the stronger they get. If you have the time and patience to use these on low level enemies it pays off in spades. When fully powered, they become one hit kill weapons.
Can't forget the rusted weapons from Dragons Dogma. They're surprisingly powerful after upgrading them since they can slow AND poison just about every enemy in the game.
by the same token the tutorial gear in The Realm, cant be repaired ever but its armor score is so igh some player just save it on a new character to use on bosses. then thes Falerons hammer which was soo god the devs nerfed it so you cant pick it up...but if you had it in your inventory before hand...
Not sure if it counts but in one of the X-Com games (3, I think) you can research the dart pistol. Seems useless until you realize later in the game, (A) the darts bypass the aliens' shields, (B) they're highly vulnerable to the toxin on the darts, and (C) you spam shots like an automatic Nerf cannon. Oh, and being that it's a pistol, you can dual wield them. Late in the game, I just had a squad of soldiers armed with pistols mopping up enemies within a few minutes.
Yeah that's in X-Com Apocalypse. Toxiguns are the most OP weapon in that game. They also don't do too much damage to humans, so you can literally spray and pray even at your team (useful for brainsuckers)
I'm surprised that the soap from Dusk didn't make it on the list. It doesn't have any purpose in game, it's in every level, but it instantly kills any enemy.
A couple of idea that I think would be good for a Tues your own adventure video are; Suprise playable characters/celebrity cameos in games Game puzzles and riddles that have more brutal punishments for failing than one of Jigsaw's traps.
I've got a contentious honourable mention: Magikarp. Magikarp is a splashing nuisance for you and your opponents in every Pokemon game it's in. And it takes a while to train. But if you're patient, you'll be rewarded with Magikarp's awesome evolution, Gyarados, which in most games it's in, can level your opponents with ease.
If I recall correctly, there was a quest line you had to do involving you digging up hidden notes that eventually led to you digging it up… fun thing… you could dig it up early if you knew where it was, but it’d be lacking all the upgrades that made it a monstrous weapon
Heres an obscure one, way back in the mists of time on a console known as the Sega Genesis (or Megadrive for us UK players) There was a game called Super Hydlide. At a certain spot in this game it was possible to pick up an item called 'Silver Sword' which was just how it sounds, a sword made of solid silver. Extremely heavy item in a game that slows you down for being over-encumbered. It could sell for a lot of money, OR you could take it to another certain location after doing certain things, and the silver sword becomes a light saber. As light as a daggar, but **maximum** damage power.
I have one for this list - mind you I'm not 100% sure of the validity of how many were ultimately found. Back when I played EverQuest, there was a rather infamous weapon I heard of called , "The stick"; the original version was later nerfed. It was quite literally a wooden stick found as a rare drop in one zone. If memory serves it was a 1 damage 1 speed 0 weight 1 handed blunt weapon that was rather comical to use. UNLESS you were a primary tank/fighter or Monk class. When duel wielded by certain classes the 1 speed made it the fastest weapon in the game along with a set minimum damage cap provided by Monk and Fighters created one of the most broken and overpowered weapons in the game.
You start out in Starbound with a broken sword. If you pop it in storage and keep it there, later on in the game, the Glitch NPC that you rescue can repair broken protectorate weapons....such as the sword, turning it into a decent weapon. Granted, you'll probably have found comparable or vastly better weapons by that point, but it's still a nice touch.
I have one favor to ask of Jules. Please change your slogan of “awesomely named but awefully hosted Tues your own adventure “. I, like you, spent 4 years of my life investing in a BA in English, harboring secret aspirations of writing the great American novel only to find out I had no stories to tell. Flash forward in life and I work as a nurse easing the pain of many patients for more than 6 years now. Still I can’t feel good about myself until I come across a UA-camr who takes time out of the end of his broadcast to build his audience up each week and I’m hooked. You sir, are the true”Lege” never forget that!
Long awaited questions never answered: the lore of Mario's Mushroom Kingdom (hollow earth explaining gravity of floating objects, why the layout of Mushroom Kingdom constantly changes, etc), Krystal's Origins fleshed out in StarFox (throw Katt, Miyu, Fay, Bill and others in too), does Altair from Assassins Creed ever meet Robin Hood, etc?
More of an answered Mario question, is why they never undo the spell that turned everyone into blocks, the game manual of super Mario bros said everyone was turned into blocks. Yet no one seems to care
The Red Ryder BB gun, particularly from the original Wasteland, was a formidable weapon. First, it could hold 200 (literal) rounds. Second, it had an extremely high crit rate and even hight crit damage. The 90's RPG flavor text described the ways various creatures got their eye put out.
In Ocarina of Time, the Biggoron sword also can’t be jumped on by Dark Link and does way more damage. The trade quest to get it is annoying as hell, but it’s always worth it to have that sword as soon as possible.
My first thought were the shackles you start with in oblivion. They literally have zero use at the start of the game. But, if you save it for later it is an additional item slot that can be enchanted that you can’t get an item in that slot any other way.
I'd like to see a list of the games with the best idle animations. Like, we just put together this entire game, but let's also program in some useless idle animations that serve zero purpose other than for your entertainment.
Wait no wait... If you're going to slander the truly pure and beautiful name of Mega Man, then the true correct answer is the Top Spin from Mega Man 3. Totally useless until the final giant Wily bot where it drains like half the boys life bar in one go.
I've got a few examples. Let's start with Skyrim's Wooden Sword. This thing has a measly 4 points of strength, mainly due to it being a child's toy sword. But if you have some firewood, and with a high Smithing, Enchanting and One-Handed skill, even dragons will fall to what's essentially a glorified stick. Likewise, the Wooden Sword in Ninja Gaiden Black is, a first glance, complete useless, due to it lacking both combos (it shares what combos it does have with the Dragon Sword) and power. Despite this, however, it can be upgraded 7 times, which is more than any other weapon in the game. When fully upgraded, it becomes the Unlaboured Flawlessness, which resembles a boat oar, at which point it not only gains its own unique combos, it also has an effect where it deals more damage the less health you have left. Super Mario RPG had the Lazy Shell which made the wearer practically invincible, while also making them too weak to actually hit anything. Doesn't really sound worth using... unless Peach equips it. She's the party's resident healer, which means attacking enemies is the last thing she should be doing. This also means that nothing can stop her from healing her allies. Lastly, we have the Iron Pipe from Nier: Automata. As you might guess, it's literally just a rusty pipe you can find by fishing it out of a sewer, and it has fairly poor base damage. However, upgrading this thing gives it a boost to its critical hit chance, which is where its real strength lies. Although the Iron Pipe's base damage is poor, its critical damage is one of the highest among short swords, as well as being one of the faster weapons in the game.
In "Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners" for the VR, the frying pan was OP. As a weapon it would never break or wear out.... and it didn't cost any stamina to use it. Yes, it was weaker, typically requiring three hits to kill, but after the first hit, zombies were always stunned, so it didn't matter, Even relatively large groups could be defeated with the frying pan.
In Ultima 7, you could get a weapon called the "Hoe of Destruction". It was literally a farming tool. But it was also the best non-single-use melee weapon in the game, pre-expansions. Does that count? I don't know, I just like saying "Hoe of Destruction".
HM: The Excalipoor: Given up by Gilgamesh. This cheap imitation does only 1 HP of damage but never misses. In FFV there is an enemy called the Skull-Cracker (a squirrel enemy that only hs 1 HP and high evasion). Any other weapon will always miss, but not Excalipoor. He gives High AP I believe.
In Lands Of Lore II you can get a broken sword that does nothing. Later on you can get it repaired to discover it's only slightly better than useless which is the point where you usually toss it however if you keep it, late in the game you can get it boosted to become one of two god-like weapon that destroy everything in your path.
Honorable Mention: the Spring-Loaded Hammer, LoZ Breath of the Wild. Comical knockback aside, it is a high-durability weapon that deals enough damage to kill a Keese or Stal enemy's skull, allowing you to save arrows and weapon durability on meaningful weapons, making it a staple for night travel.
wasn't aware of it in 2, honestly, but most after it have that too - the scumbag slayer, kills scumbags dead. except, they're the basic bitch thief foes that are early on then not really ever again... till the postgame dungeon, with metal scumbags. guess who's important all of a sudden. LOT easier to pull this off in 5, given you can resummon packs of enemies with a skill.
The deku sticks in ocarina of time are much stronger then they look because its basically the equivalent of the biggoron sword for kid link. When fighting the second boss king dodongo do a jump attack with the sticks & you'll finish him off much faster then using the sword, ironic that a stick is stronger then a sword when it breaks after using it but hey game logic.
in binding of isaac, there is the gnawed leaf, that turns you into stone while standing still. seems useless. but combine it with gemini = easy fast free win every battle
idk if anyone really explained it , the dead rising stuff is bc if you want slower projectiles with arcs its much more normal to make objects instead of shoot a straight line/ predetermined direction.
(mentioning a seemingly useless item in this comment, but with heavy spoilers for Azure Striker Gunvolt, read at your own risk of being spoiled) What about that accessory Joule in Azure Striker Gunvolt 1 gives you? You have to collect hidden gems (literal, not figuratively) hidden throughout the stages in the game, give them to Joule, which then she out of the kindness in her heart, crafts them into something for you to wear. The item description of that sort of accessory or jewelry she crafts for you (I forgot the name of the item) implies it's a useless item that grants you no effects, meaning it's better off to equip something else to that slot right? Wrong! This seemingly useless item is vital to getting the true ending of the game. Without it when fighting the final boss, you get a bad ending afterwards, where both Joule and GV (the player character) are shot to death by a trusted person up to this point, upon refusing an offer by that man to rule the world with him. However, if you're wearing that item Joule gives you when defeating the final boss, although Joule still dies, her charm takes the brunt of the gunshot on GV, saving him from an instant death, although still putting him in an injury that will kill him if not treated. Joule's Septima, Lumen, then heals him from the brink of death, with her Anthem music power, which is a song she uses throughout the game to save GV from certain death in gameplay, which then GV grieves over Joule's death, then goes after that man who killed her, and then the true final battle can start, where you then, all powered up from being saved from the brink of death via the Anthem, go to kill that man who took the life of the one you cherished so much. After killing him, GV brings his corpse to the rest of the team GV used to be a part of, ignores his former teammates asking with the concerns of that man being dead, and move-on. This seemingly useless item Joule crafts from the jewels you gave her, is vital to get that ending and true final battle. And btw, anyone who gets this ending who wants to try to play Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger IX, that game actually takes place after the bad ending of Gunvolt 1, as it shows at some point GV and Joule being dead. If you want to see what happened after Gunvolt 1's "true ending", you'll have to play Gunvolt 2 and 3.
The Broken Giant's Knife strat might be cheap, but I won my first bought against Dark Link with similarly cheap tactics. Somehow I managed to hit him with the Megaton Hammer once, and every time he fell through the floor and tried to resurface, I hit him again before he got his defenses up. What started as an impossible and infuriating battle turned remarkably easy, lol.
If you do the biggoran sword quest (able to be finished technically before the forest temple just need blue fire and epona), that sword he can't jump on, it's as simple as locking on and stabbing, do a jump attack before so your stab does more damage though
Top Spin in Megaman 3 might be worse than Bubble Lead. That weapon is downright dangerous to use and if you use it wrong it drains all the energy in less than two seconds. It's also Shadowman's weakness(the hardest of the robot masters) and can instantly kill the final boss.
Mmh... nah. The broken Giant's Knife is still mostly useless when you can just simply spam Din's Fire to successfully thwart Dark Link before he can even touch you :P

So you will indeed have presenters talking about games they haven't played, because the list isn't their own opinion. Jules does seem to have played every game he talks about though, so either that's the case or he's just really diligent about researching and/or crafting his content when it covers something he hasn't experienced.
Video games where you were to blame for in the main story
Can we get a Top Ten Fan Theories that became cannon
Video Games developers stopped caring about, but we didn't.
Like Gothic 3 or vampire the masquerade which only get amazing (or finish able) with a fan patch.
Top 10 video game villians that managed to kill literally no one.
Suggestion: Bizarre or unexpected Video game romance partners, that you wouldn't have normally thought of.
Admittedly, this comes from how long I spent in FFVII trying to get the elusive Gold Saucer date scene with Barrett.
7 times a Frying Pan was an excellent weapon
Phantasy Star Online had one of these with Akiko's Wok.
There is also the tome you find off the dead body that has uses of like 3000 to jumping. Item can be used to jump fast distances
10 best dlcs that can't no longer be played/bought anymore
I can think of 2 in Castlevania Portrait Of Ruin that instantly come to mind - the Paper Airplane and the Pie. Both are totally useless at the start, but like the other Sun weapons, the more you use them, the stronger they get. If you have the time and patience to use these on low level enemies it pays off in spades. When fully powered, they become one hit kill weapons.
Top 10 video games that are deceptively cute but have a serious/dark under tone.
Video game bosses that wasted the player's time but not progressing the story in any way or providing any sort of reward
List idea: top game soundtracks. Soulsborne games have some belters, MGS, FF, etc. And thanks for the positive messages at the end of your vids 🙂
Jules, I have to say I always appreciate the endings you do for these videos.
Mini games you would rather play than the main game because they are more fun
I love that I just noticed what looks like Mortarion on the shelf! Do we get to see him close up??
10 video games where the camera kills you more than any enemy 🤣
The force unleashed 2 is a hot contender here.
I'm surprised that the soap from Dusk didn't make it on the list. It doesn't have any purpose in game, it's in every level, but it instantly kills any enemy.
A couple of idea that I think would be good for a Tues your own adventure video are;
Suprise playable characters/celebrity cameos in games
Game puzzles and riddles that have more brutal punishments for failing than one of Jigsaw's traps.
I read about how OP the frying pan from Fable was. Got it and never knew how to get it to an OP state.
8 skills that you can learn from video games. (Excluding the obvious simulator games.)
I always used the megaton hammer against Dark Link. It works better then the giant's knife.
I beat him a dozen times and never even thought about using a broken sword.
List Idea: Games With Absurdly Unexpected Sources Of Inspiration.
In the Zelda games, the butterfly net and fishing pole can be powerful weapons too.
Fishing pole hack from Twilight Princess was pretty op
Every video from Jules is like a warm hug
Video game sequels where the main best/favorite character is not the main character
Always stoked when Isaac shows up on a list.
real
The Red Ryder BB gun, particularly from the original Wasteland, was a formidable weapon. First, it could hold 200 (literal) rounds. Second, it had an extremely high crit rate and even hight crit damage. The 90's RPG flavor text described the ways various creatures got their eye put out.
Top 8 weapons that you have to fuse other weapons together to make.
8 NPCs more powerful than the final boss
I'd like to see a list of the games with the best idle animations. Like, we just put together this entire game, but let's also program in some useless idle animations that serve zero purpose other than for your entertainment.
Conkers bad fur day will be at the top for sure.
Deadpool
Idea for next list: "Useless" ABILITIES that are actually useful.
(Example: That spinning air strike move Sonic has in Sonic 3)
Let’s not forget that half of SOTN is locked behind having the holy glasses equipped in the battle with Dracula unlocking the inverted castle
Top 10 infuriating animal buddy's to get a hold of
Why does he say it's "awfully hosted"?? These videos are great!! 😆😆
Bubble Lead has one niche use in one of the stages as well: scouting out the path ahead and detecting disguised pitfalls
Was kinda expecting the frying pan from fable or Elucid's C finder from new Vegas
Suggestion: Either most ridiculous weapons or most ridiculous quests/missions in video games.
Thank you, Jules. Somedays, I'm caught off guard by just how much I needed to hear your ending messages. Cheers.
I totally came here for the list. And, my virtual hug of warmth from Jules. 😂
Great video as always Jules you absolute Leg
10 indie flash games that deserved a proper releases
Or 10 flash games that became cult classics
Dude! Star Ocean 2?! That’s an old time favorite of mine. Didn’t know about that trick, something new every day.
wasn't aware of it in 2, honestly, but most after it have that too - the scumbag slayer, kills scumbags dead. except, they're the basic bitch thief foes that are early on then not really ever again... till the postgame dungeon, with metal scumbags. guess who's important all of a sudden.
LOT easier to pull this off in 5, given you can resummon packs of enemies with a skill.
Maxed out E Tanks ASAP if you wanna beat Wily in MM2 because your Bubble Lead will run out FAST.
And especially useful against barinade, the electric yellyfish from inside lord jabbu jabbu.
in binding of isaac, there is the gnawed leaf, that turns you into stone while standing still. seems useless. but combine it with gemini = easy fast free win every battle
Well timed ad. Right after it aired, Jules was going, "Thank you, thank you, thank you."
Next: video games with no happy ending (not the kind of the massage place).
idk if anyone really explained it , the dead rising stuff is bc if you want slower projectiles with arcs its much more normal to make objects instead of shoot a straight line/ predetermined direction.
Suggestion: Antagonists, who had a good point and you could agree with their point of view.
Horror game deaths that are oddly satisfying to watch.
The Casey Bat is the only item in EB that made speedruns viable and helped you get the Sword of Kings (Poo's best weapon) much much more tolerable
I don't think the bubble lead making the final boss winnable counts as "game breaking".
(mentioning a seemingly useless item in this comment, but with heavy spoilers for Azure Striker Gunvolt, read at your own risk of being spoiled)
What about that accessory Joule in Azure Striker Gunvolt 1 gives you?
A list of not necessarily the biggest plot twists in gaming, but your personal favourite top 10. (I know the Baten Kaitos twist would be in my top 10, at the very least.)
The "Spammer" is impressive, but it's got nothing on the "Knife-Wrench". KNIFE-WRENCH! Practical and safe.
Julesey baby!!!! Do “full price aaa Video games that lasted one day of play”
Next week's episode: Pieces of anxiety-inducing video game music. Like the running-out-of-air theme in the "Sonic the Hedgehog" games, as an example.
10 guilty pleasure tactics/gameplay/ glitches we all have taken advantage of.
I much prefer your narration over your on-screen videos.... Take a chill pill bro 😅❤😂
a bit more out there but theres a fun combot in fallout 4. Ghoulish, + solar Power+life giver perk basically synergise reall well and you can stand outside in a rad storm fiugthing ghosts in a radiatactive chater with the salvaged asutron head irrdiating you and basically never die. Wit hthe sun out solar power makes you heal, wioth life giver (and optionall the perk in the mayoral bunker) you have passive healing, and with ghoulish Rad are turned to heath meaning gaining rads just makes you turn those rads into heath
