Baby douc langur monkey rescued from the illegal wildlife trade

- What lives in the trees, has a blue face, is identified by its legs, and spends its days munching on leaves? A black-shanked douc langur (Pygathrix nigripes), that’s what! On the 5th of February, our Wildlife Rapid Rescue Team (WRRT) received a call from a Cambodian citizen who had purchased an infant douc langur from poachers in Mondulkiri, where this endangered primate is found. Determined to be a Black shanked douc langur, this is a species we rarely come across, with only 25 rescued or confiscated over the last ten years.

@@WildlifeAlliance that is a lie!!! As much as I appreciate all you do.....you have rescued others and you never update us. Examples being: Santa, Lori, Amari, Lola (who should have been returned to her mother as she could climb, move, etc even with her once broken arm) to name a few. Shame on you. You want our $$ but fail to update us on some of the ones we the people are interested in and have asked you about.
Jahm823 ~ AGREED 100 % and I’m sorry to tell you I have been informed from a few very trustworthy sources that WLA HAS AMPUTATED LOLA’S ARM!! Even though something was wrong with her arm she was happy and climbing and with her family ( was going back to mom that day WLA took her) I wish we could be informed why they felt that was necessary? ? YES, there have been a few bad VO’s and many POACHERS in the many different locations these monkeys live along with MILLIONS OF TOURISTS EVERYDAY! There is also many people that care VERY MUCH about these monkeys in the area. ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH WLA is they believe every person calling and writing them lies and need to check on things before believing every single person. I read lies almost everyday on UTUBE and the WLA site. Someone had wrote they were so upset the VO’s were hitting and kicking the monkeys! ( I WAS ANGRY ALSO! THATS WRONG!) they left a link so I went to look. What happened and was explained in video was the monkeys were fighting and a clearly mad male was chasing a monkey and was running toward a VO and he put his leg up as if scared and trying to protect himself and show the monkey don’t run this way AND THE MONKEY RAN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION. That male never got any closer that about 3 feet away but his leg was out so of course the story changes to they are beating up monkeys? These made up stories are all over the WLA site also. If anyone is really trying to help these monkeys ( there are SOME VERY LEGITIMATE stories and proof of monkeys being abused out there and people doing good work getting them rescued. THANK YOU!) If you care for animals PLEASE don’t continue to write what conspiracy stories you have read from anyone ( even me) check from around the web on Cambodian news ect. Find your own truth before running with a story or you slow the help going to the animals that truly need help.
@@dizzzmaz5151 What did you write a desertation? First and foremost, I always do my own research! I never take anyone of these armchair KNOW IT ALL warriors at the word. I - stated a fact: As much as I love what WLA does and stands for in this instance - they have NOT updated us on they monkeys they have been entrusted with due to the care or lack thereof of others. And yes, there are a few vo's that do care - there are many that are not. I personally don't care if someone makes money of their videos...everyone has to eat and have shelter. So don't lecture me...

You can understand why someone would steal one of these from the wild, they are adorable, and look like a great little friend. But unfortunately, too many people don't seem to understand that animals have emotions too, especially the more intelligent animals, they have families and social structures. Imagine if some type of alien creature stole your child, never to be seen again.
Except we're not alien creatures were Humans and if someone wants one as a pet it's fine

@Jessica Thompson, don't worry about what others think....I personally hate (and I rarely use that word) Song, I once liked him until he went to the dark side and started that FAKE NGO taking monkey that did not need to be treated at all, killing them etc. Which is why we lost Lola to Wildlife. Sadly if you read the posts they state they would update....and they don't. Lola was fine in her daily life and she could do all that every other monkey did. If WLA was true to their word they would have released Lola back to her mother and they did not. A very Sad state for things to be in. So we will most likely never hear about what happened to Lola, Lori, Amari, Dana, and possibly Janna. They don't realize they would bring in more $$ if they updated us often on them.

Your the place that had Heidi and Lori I seen terrible reports that your the reason Lori died from the injections you were giving her that were not correct and it killed her it made her have seizure
@Margaret Mayberry, no they did not kill Lori. They actually saved Lori's life. If you do a search on Lori baby monkey you can see various video's that they posted of Lori getting a bath, eating, fresh air and the love her caretakers (Try Sitheng & Pisey Kim ( think i spelled his name right) had for her. Sadly @Wildlife Alliance no longer updates us at all which is horrible of them. They would bring in more $$ if they did .

Lori lives. I visited Phnom Tamao in march and saw Lori and other rescued monkeys. For actual videos please visit my channel. My overall impression of this zoo was very satifactionary. This staff shows a very high engagement. Please donate on wildlife alliance website. I donate every month.
