Hi, Yes, it's a nice lake, but I recommend you to visit Plitvice Park too. Europe has much to offer 😍 have a look at Madeira or Azore and many other beautiful places from Italy, France etc
The Lake District in the UK will blow your minds. Windermere is the star but every one is just stunning... Go there when Wimbledon is on for the best of the weather. Stay at ours if you want we are only an hour away :)

I am Brazilian and, honestly, I spent my 5 best days of my hole life in Ohrid to enjoy the city, the mountains covered with snow and the Lake itself. Amazing!
My family has visited ohrid 3 times, Macedonian people are very nice people! Sadly we can’t visit this year because of the corona virus, hopefully we can visit again next year!

One day ohrid is not enough. We were there 2 weeks ago for 3 nights. I want to go back! Not in the summertime because it is very touristic. Maybe sept next year. I felt in love with ohrid. And indeed there were a lot of dutch people ;)

I live in Skopje and I know a lot of beautiful places that you can visit plus I go to folk dance so I travel a lot, you should visit Kokino, Kuklica in Kratovo, Pelisters eyes, river Radika, Kolesino water fall and a lot of other fascinating places to visit hopefully this is helpful.
Glad you enjoyed Ohrid too! The city is the Jerusalem of the Balkans and it’s the place where the Cyrillic alphabet was invented! Ohrid is also the oldest lake in Europe and also one of the deepest in Europe! And yes because Macedonia doesn’t have a sea, people go to vacation in Ohrid or the other lakes like Prespa and Struga. Also many of the surrounding Balkan countries come to vacation in Ohrid!🇲🇰

I just commented that they do look like something i can see in my own country which resembles each other as they are in the Mediterranean. I have never been to Italy to know how Roman architecture looks like as it started there. I just wanted to clarify if you knew that Ancient Greece began in 12th till 9th BC and Roman empire began in 753 BC? Meaning ancient Greece or Greek culture or greek influence came earlier than roman. Roman empire just took over a lot that is why it can be seen nearly everywhere. Both are similar and got inspiration over each other but it also depends how old the monuments are. Bc a lot of architectures can be seen that they were not destroyed but build on top of them or added extra to it to look closer to their own style.
Ohrid architecture is somewhat same as Solun(today Thesalloniki) as the same people lived there in Solun and here in Macedonia. Many Macedonians were forced to change their identity if they wanted to keep their houses otherwise they were either killed or forced away of Greece. It was all happening during 1945

I don't know but someone told me that Macedonia had Solun and Halkidiki and a lot of parts or east Bulgaria and south Serbia. I feel bad for this coutry actually. Being taken by every country 😔. Great video and, having been there many times to visit family from the UK, I discovered quite quickly that the town’s name is pronounced “Och”rid by Macedonians, like the “och” in Scottish. It’s a very beautiful place, for sure.

Years ago when people were just starting to visit the former Eastern Block countries I was driving around Slovakia and Hungary with some friends and we couldn't believe the amount of NL cars we saw! It became a standing joke. I'm sure there's a car with an NL number plate parked on the moon somewhere.
Shopska Salata (in Serbian Šopska Salata) is also a thing in Serbia. My boyfriend is Serbian and it’s my favourite salad to have when we visit, specifically because of the mountain of shredded white cheese on top 😹

I learned to swim in this lake( in Albanian part during communism )even though I live close to the seaside. It is an amazing lake and I got a soft spot for it( many memories). Ohri was completely Albanian 100 years ago, before it was given to the newly Macedonian state. It is still a town full of Albanians together with Struga on the northern part of it. Cheers!
I was here last week, it was gorgeous, also the castle doesn't have an entrance fee, the monastery is actually where they say Christianity flourished and where the slavic alphabets were created untill then the language was only oral. going back to work now 😞

They started devicing the first alphabet known as Glagolitic in Great Moravia which is somewhere in current day Czech Republic. Now St Naum and St Clement of Ohrid where the deciples of St Cyril and Methodius who improved on Glagotic alphabet which offcouse came to be known as the Cyrilic Alphabet. The wikipedia articles which i skimmed through mentions that the deciples started working upon the letters in Preslav literary school which is in present day bulegria and then later finalized them in Ohrid litreary school where St Naum and St Clement taught Cyrilic to promote christianity. The monastry in the video is actually that same monastery where also the tomb of St Clement is at. Search for Church of St Clement and Panteleimon Hope this helps! We also did the trip from Skopje to Lake Ohrid (1 week in North Macedonia). From there we hired a car and went to Chalkidiki in Greece for another week...Great holiday!

i love Ohrid! People are very friendly ( no pushing you into shops and all that shit ) they speak english pretty darn good . I did not like Skopje , you just feel the crime ... Also i went with my boyfriend , if you are gay .. its all fine , just dont show it like extreme . I was here last week, it was gorgeous, also the castle doesn't have an entrance fee, the monastery is actually where they say Christianity flourished and where the slavic alphabets were created untill then the language was only oral.

@@jaysterling26 Saints Cyril and Methodius were two brothers who were Byzantine Christian theologians and Christian missionaries.
They started devicing the first alphabet known as Glagolitic in Great Moravia which is somewhere in current day Czech Republic.
Now St Naum and St Clement of Ohrid where the deciples of St Cyril and Methodius who improved on Glagotic alphabet which offcouse came to be known as the Cyrilic Alphabet.
The wikipedia articles which i skimmed through mentions that the deciples started working upon the letters in Preslav literary school which is in present day bulegria and then later finalized them in Ohrid litreary school where St Naum and St Clement taught Cyrilic to promote christianity. The monastry in the video is actually that same monastery where also the tomb of St Clement is at.

We also did the trip from Skopje to Lake Ohrid (1 week in North Macedonia). From there we hired a car and went to Chalkidiki in Greece for another week...Great holiday!

There are only two travel advisories for Macedonia: Rakija and Promaja.
Im convinced people outside of the balkan think we live in villages from the 1950s 😭 but im glad they ecknoledged that ohrid is developed... not nearly as much as skopje but still!

i love Ohrid! People are very friendly ( no pushing you into shops and all that shit ) they speak english pretty darn good . I did not like Skopje , you just feel the crime ... Also i went with my boyfriend , if you are gay .. its all fine , just dont show it like extreme . Nobody cares if 2 guys are out , just dont push it . oh also , its so darn cheap and people are soooo nice
