    So the big question - is it Europe's best lake? We've not seen enough of them to know, but plenty of people have told us it is, what's your fav? Where should we visit?

      @Real history is unpleasant!
      I am sorry that you got offended for this. I just commented that they do look like something i can see in my own country which resembles each other as they are in the Mediterranean. I have never been to Italy to know how Roman architecture looks like as it started there.
      I just wanted to clarify if you knew that Ancient Greece began in 12th till 9th BC and Roman empire began in 753 BC? Meaning ancient Greece or Greek culture or greek influence came earlier than roman. Roman empire just took over a lot that is why it can be seen nearly everywhere.
      Both are similar and got inspiration over each other but it also depends how old the monuments are. Bc a lot of architectures can be seen that they were not destroyed but build on top of them or added extra to it to look closer to their own style.

    • @teodorgeorgievski1148
      @teodorgeorgievski1148 4 роки тому +2

      Ohrid architecture is somewhat same as Solun(today Thesalloniki) as the same people lived there in Solun and here in Macedonia. Many Macedonians were forced to change their identity if they wanted to keep their houses otherwise they were either killed or forced away of Greece. It was all happening during 1945

    I learned to swim in this lake( in Albanian part during communism )even though I live close to the seaside. It is an amazing lake and I got a soft spot for it( many memories).
    Ohri was completely Albanian 100 years ago, before it was given to the newly Macedonian state. It is still a town full of Albanians together with Struga on the northern part of it. Cheers!

    I was here last week, it was gorgeous, also the castle doesn't have an entrance fee, the monastery is actually where they say Christianity flourished and where the slavic alphabets were created untill then the language was only oral.

      I've looked around the web & can't find the source about the alphabet. Have you got a link?

    • @nagpoore
      @nagpoore 5 років тому +1

      @@jaysterling26 Saints Cyril and Methodius were two brothers who were Byzantine Christian theologians and Christian missionaries.
      They started devicing the first alphabet known as Glagolitic in Great Moravia which is somewhere in current day Czech Republic.
      Now St Naum and St Clement of Ohrid where the deciples of St Cyril and Methodius who improved on Glagotic alphabet which offcouse came to be known as the Cyrilic Alphabet.
      The wikipedia articles which i skimmed through mentions that the deciples started working upon the letters in Preslav literary school which is in present day bulegria and then later finalized them in Ohrid litreary school where St Naum and St Clement taught Cyrilic to promote christianity. The monastry in the video is actually that same monastery where also the tomb of St Clement is at.
      Search for Church of St Clement and Panteleimon
      Hope this helps!
