- This video will show you how to change the oil and filter on the 2015-2021 Subaru WRX without having to jack up the whole car. Oil and filter was purchased from Amazon and I will provide links below.
K&N Oil Filter: amzn.to/3AkrJDl
Motul 5w-30 5qt: amzn.to/3N5abT6
Motul 5w-30 1qt: amzn.to/3NoIxkn
This video is lowkey relaxing.
I am impressed you did this without lifting the car given how low these are to the ground.
very simple and straightforward video thanks
Thank you, for not over complicating anything.
Thank you for the reply. Spoke to a Subaru Tech and he told me its all good no need to worry or purchase another one. Said enough air willl be forced into intercooler with hood scoop.
thanks man, it's nice to see the exact car for instructions
also thanks for not making this an influencer video
Between the 2 dots it's 1 liter and thanks for the video
Super helpful!! Used ramps on my 21’ wrx
Great video! Thanks alot
Great video, "and then you're gonna go ahead and... "
Thank you my guy 🫡
I don’t understand how he was able to fit his hand and the drain pan under the car. My car has to be jacked up at least an inch to fit my hand in between the car and the drain pan
Great job, thanks.
Wish they made the oil filter location for the sti in the same spot 😂
I know I wish every vehicle was like this no mess.
exactly what I need needed.
Also this is a quality vid
Guys every oil change should be done with an upper engine clean. This is a must not option.
What does that even mean? Never heard of an "upper engine clean" in my life. Been changing my own oil for over 10 years
@@spangsmanI googled it and it’s basically putting something into ur engine that cleans it

No jack needed?
So, no need to Jack up the car for the oil change?
Nope as long as you can slide a catch pan under and loosen the drain plug your good to go.
Any problems with the K&N? Kept coming across them having rust
Good Shit my man
I think Mobil 1 has best filter
OEM black filter is best
so you put both cans inside?
Doing my fist oil change tomorrow in my 17 WRX. Does the oil brand matter? I got the penzzoil ultra platinum
Pennzoil ultra platinum is really good oil that’s what I use in some of my other vehicles and will be fine in your Subaru
My 21 wrx uses a 17mm
Good to know thanks for the tip.
Same!
I didn't see you put a new crush washer on, when you replaced the oil drain plug. Hmmm ????
Never had an issue with reusing them.
Where did you get the air filter cover? I need to get one for mine
It came with the Cobb cold air intake system.
@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE thank you. It’s on my list now
Or if it's not your vehicle did it come into the shop with the cover and you just didn't have it in the video
This is my son in laws car and he just forgot to put it back on before I worked on it. But I believe now that it won’t fit because of the aftermarket Cobb intercooler I put on.
I was just wondering because I broke my engine cover the plastic piece do you not utilize yours and do you have any issues with the intercooler or have you had any issues with the intercooler?
He hasn’t had any issues with the stock intercooler or the Cobb one I put on it.
Purchased a 2019 WRX for my son a few months ago. My husband will do the oil change. Place here in Jacksonville Fl recommended Motul 8100 X-CESS 5W 40. Would that be because the climate being so warm?
Personally, I’ve always stuck to the manufacturer rec oil viscosity. Whatever the oil cap says is what should be used. I understand that Florida can get a lot warmer although 5W30 will perform very well in all temperatures. Using a heavier weight oil will not flow as well during start up anyways and the cooling system should be able to keep up with the heat… Florida ain’t that hot.
Bruh I can't get under my wrx without jacking it up or using ramps
Yeah it’s definitely a tight fit but is doable unless your on coilovers.
you forgot to change the crush washer
I know your supposed to but I’ve never had any problems or leaking from reusing it.
Why does the quart say bmw on it?
It's called 5 liters not 5.28 quarts. What's wrong with the mericans
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
One shop I took mine too overfilled it… by about a quarter to a half of an inch over the top dot. Drove around 1,500 miles like that :/ how bad is that for the engine?
Most of the time it will burn it off but if its way overfilled it could cause seals to blow.
Doing my first DIY oil change anybody know the size of crush washer ? Thank you in advance!!
14mm
All my codes are on like a mf bmw now and can’t get it to go away
Did any animals make home n chew the engine harness n fry the ecu
