I liked everything about this car, especially the noise of the motor , and I can see this as the way forward for anyone who only takes short trips around town. Reminds me of the Johnny Cab in the original Total Recall.
Agree in principal, but the reality is that tiny cars have been around for decades but nobody wants them. Part of the problem I think is that people are concerned at how safe they are in an accident. Would you like to be sat in that when you're t-boned at a junction? I've seen a video of a Smart car that was totally destroyed in that type of accident at less than 30mph. Occupant was killed. There was hardly a mark on the other car. As sensible as they are economically, they will probably always be a niche market and with electric cars gradually becoming a thing the savings on running costs will be less relevant over time. Given the opportunity would I swap this for the Jag XF I paid £7k for? Not a chance, and I doubt most other people would too.
@@severnsea If you think it's a car then your criticism is correct.... But it's not a car. Compared with a bike it has advantages, like not getting soaked in the rain. However, the cost..... Really cheap, no it's not.
@@tompiper9276 Can't see what difference it makes, whether you call it a car, a quadricycle or a plum pudding, the point remains the same. Deciding what to call it makes no difference to how safe it might or might not be. I don't know why but the design of these things always seems to be a bit leftfield too, they don't appeal to me very much regardless of their potential merits. If you're only using it to bob around town and doing very little mileage, and let's be honest there's not much else you can do with it, you might as well save some money and buy a small runabout. That's how I've always viewed this sort of thing and I suspect it's the same for most other people.
@@gssf.gr29 If you live in Scotland and drive a small car like I do, you get used to swerving around the multitude of potholes to avoid your car suffering damage so your point is well made!.
I think everything about this car is amazing, it actually looks really sporty. Living abroad myself I think most cities in Europe don't allow faster driving in the towns anyways. Excellent!👍🤩
Great balanced, interesting review with all issues covered well. Citroen at its best, quirky and well designed. Great outfit, blowing in the wind. Love it.
I drive a Prius Prime in full electric mode 95% of the time and love it. I have a 22 mile round trip commute, and with planning, I really could live with a short range electric.
@@wordimobi5765 - Jeez! Can't you guys get a grip about laws and regulations?! A tiny glimpse would be enough to not proclaim such ignorant comments! Legally! THIS IS NOT a car, automobile, whatever you prefer to call. This is a quadricycle, a four wheel moped with speed limited to 45km/h. Can only circulate in the same roads/speeds as ANY OTHER 2 wheel moped!
...love it! please, please, please Mr. Citroën bring it here in UK, love the 13 amp 3 pin plug to charge. Follows beautifully Citroën's querkiness the 2CV immediately springs to mind! Beautifully presented too...👌🧸🌼
This is what most people actually need on a basic day to day basis. 30minutes to 1 hour commuting, shopping trip, calling at relatives or friends. Perfect. That "windows come straight down" unfortunately was nothing more than a revelation or confirmation if you will. That she didn't do her homework and had absolutely no idea what she was talking about! Pretty girl for sure, but some professionalism could set you apart from the crowd! :-( When doing a video review would be nice to learn at least the bare minimum about the vehicle presented! On the case of this one you would spend an whole 5 minutes!!!! With that done. It would be no surprise that's exactly how the windows should behave! If you want/intend them to "lock". Open all the way to the top. Then they will hold as normal! Exactly like the old 2 cv more than half a century ago... In a similar sense there would be no surprise that the door pockets are among the largest in any passenger vehicle. A missed very practical detail. Just as the fact that under the dashboard (passenger side) you can place a rather large traveling suitcase! And several other details not mentioned! You have the (beautiful) figure, now please had the sweat. ;-) Cheers

Saw lots of Twingo and Citroën Ami in Italy recently. I love these little cars too but I would not drive them on most North American roads. You and that 'car' are adorable. Keep up the great work. Greetings from Canada, your newest subscriber!
I live in London and I'd love to have a hire service with Amis. I used to be a member of the Blue City electric car club but that failed (Jan 2020) because not enough of the 32 London boroughs agreed to allow charging stations. I hope a company can setup renting Amis and get around this problem.
@@jamescollins3647 Exactly. The concept of tiny city cars has been tried many times around the world for the past 50 years or more. In a world where people want bigger and bigger cars it's probably even less likely to work now than ever.
That was a fantastic video Tish, thanks. Also very good question. Way back in 1991 I got my Legoland Driving Licence in Denmark. Now 30 years later I am currently giving a family member driving lessons. As I keep telling him, it doesnt matter how good of a driver you are, it's everyone else you have to look out for. What I thought was funny, my first car was a four speed Citroen AX 1.0 (Jazz) with a manual choke. It cost me £3k back in 1997.
My brother goes to the supermarket once a week and that's it. This is perfect for people like that. Very well suited to the retired and people with mobility issues who cannot drive. It must be safer than a sit on mobility scooter in the road.
As a Renault Twizy owner this looks positively luxurious - I'd add that the 28mph top speed of the Ami is likely computer-limited to comply with French rules, so it'll probably be able to do 50-60 'unrestricted'. Either way, I'd buy one!
What a breath of fresh air. Lovely presentation. You certainly will make many people buy it. Finally a cheap electric vehicle. Would suit 80% of daily local drivers.
Nice job on the review Tish! I am a PEBL owner in the United States. I enjoy riding it and max speed on my PEBL is 25 mph. Good for driving to work and running errands including grocery shopping. The Citron is a great alternative to using a regular automobile for remedial trips! 😊👍
It reminds me of a golf cart. Also, I am fully appreciating your Rode mics and how they don’t pick up any wind noise (and have a longer battery life than the Ami)
I fear we'll never see them in Australia, although there is a niche...eg, retirees like me. I'd buy one. An interesting review from someone who appears to be a non-professional...a refreshing change
As a scooter alternative, the Ami is brilliant. Does the UK have restricted licensing for young teens? Some US states allow driver's permits at 14 and license at 15.
It does indeed, in the UK you need to be 17 to apply for a provisional car license. You can have a 50cc scooter from 16 on a provisional license if you pass a CBT (compulsory basic training) course. But basically until then it’s bicycle, the bus or a walk.
I live on an island (a fairly large one), in a city where I could spend most of my travel at the speed this car does. Years ago, I even got rid of a car and spent a good five years on a Honda 150 scooter, going to work, and picking up groceries. For longer trips, I'd keep my older Hyundai, but it wouldn't get much use. I'd love one of these.
One of these days they'll maybe have steer by wire along with the brake pedal and throttle and then you could jump in, undo a clamp, and slide the whole lot across to the right hand side (or vice versa of course) so then you'll have a truly universal car that's left or right hand drive! Great review Tish, you should be on the tv!
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and watching David. I actually think because of how small the Ami is, it really didn’t feel much different to be on the other side ☺️
That was a fun review. Thanks Tish. I think if they replaced the sunroof with a solar panel you would never have to charge it. Just park it on the street during the day.
Maximum output from all solar panel in ideal conditions is around 250w per hour per square meter which will add about a mile of range per hour in the best conditions and a clean panel. But realistically a good solar panel will be 150-200w per square meter meaning so it would take closer to 100 mins to add a mile of range.
It's a good idea , but only when Elon musk comes up with light solar panels . Otherwise with the current tech the car would be too slow and too heavy . But it's coming soon to replace batteries .
As someone who is 77, and someone who does speed watch, I think the AMI is the ideal vehicle for the city, I would however like the battery to give a little more range. I live in a village in Somerset and t6o get anywhere, is a case of mileage . The AMI is ideal for getting to the shops, but not for going any distance which for us oldies is a shame.
Finally! The first reviewer to realise these are brilliant for rural locations too. I live 13kms from my nearest shop and 25km from my nearest supermarket. It'd never be my only car, but it would do for 90% of my journeys each month. I'm getting one. I live in rural Portugal and they're €8,000 here. A grand cheaper in Spain, but car ownership is one of the most expensive in Europe here.
As a town car it would be absolutely brilliant. I follow 'me and mon ami' on Utube and love their journeys through southern France and Italy in an AMI.
I get that licensing is the main reason for the speed limit but I think perhaps a 40-50mph option would make it more appealing to many. Alongside other quirky small EVs like the Carver, I can see why this kind of thing might be seriously appealing as a second vehicle or for someone who genuinely never intends to go long distance. Though it is probably only a matter of time before someone tries a full on tour of the UK in something like this, just to prove that they can. I assume you’d also be able to get some more luggage behind the seats, especially if not pushed all the way back?
I suppose one of the key obstacles to more widespread use though is going to be perceived value for money. Someone who has gone to the trouble of getting their full license may not look favourably on the limited speed and range for around £6K, when they could get a pretty reasonable condition ICE for a similar price. Perhaps this hypothetical buyer with full license might prioritise the environmental impact and/or running costs over the up front price, in which case they may instead look at cheaper examples of the Nissan Leaf with a likely still better range and greater utility. I know this is not the target market for the AMI, so maybe they are beside the point. But this (and the greater cost) may be something to do with why the Twizy does not appear to have taken off either. These smaller vehicles with more specific use cases are tempting but I think it is a bit hard for most people to view them as the manufacturers presumably would like, which is more of a moped alternative than a car replacement. It probably is not good for Citreon's bottom line if they convince too many people that they can get by with a cheap and cheerful EV, instead of a full fat car.
You tube channel “Me and Mon Ami” have pretty much done most of France in one of these and it outlines the vehicles flaws and problems well, ps they’re English guys,
This car would be perfect for drive around in London. I have a 20 miles commute daily . A decent electric bike costs around 1.5K and monthly travel pass around 200 quid. Getting this VEHICLE would be a no brainer.
Surely it would be a thousand times easier to get around London on a bike though? You have pretty much the same size, space and lane restirctions as any other car with one of these. Probably why they've never caught on. At best I think most people would pay £500 for a used one as a runabout, but not £6k. There are plenty of tiny cars on the market but you never see any on the road.
To be frank, I would smile if I saw her driving by in a rusted Ford Pinto. She is adorable. I have loved the Citroen 2CV, still do. This little pod would not be fit for duty for us but it's cute!
I think that may just be the perfect car to tow behind my camper van. I can also imagine a lot of teenage lads being disappointed when their parents promise to buy them a new car if they pass their driving test, only for said car to turn out to be an AMI :)
@@vic5594 Yeah its not the safest for having accidents in, with proper cars on the road. Definitely only for driving round small slow moving traffic roads. Maybe it would be ok bumping into another Ami, but not so much into a normal sized car.. The seats look very thin and uncomfortable, and if the windows don't stay open that's a bit of a travesty. How difficult can it be to make windows stay open for God's sake! Yeah, I'd rather take the bus, or walk than pay £6000 or whatever it is for this junk.
Not really a fan of ev's, but I quite like this! Typical quirky but functional Citroen features which is great. I think if they could increase the max speed to 40mph so as not to be too much of a nuisance, and maybe the range (battery capacity?) then this might be a great little car. Great review, many thanks Tish!
Very good article really highlights the day to day issues of ownership . I have seen one in London where i live having seen one in the plastic flesh in Corsica in the summer . it looks just at home here as it did there and even there it was 100's of miles from its place of registration in Normandy so goodness knows how long it took in 40 mile legs it took, to get there . Brilliant car for London ( most of inside the North and South circular is 20 or 30mph limits so with average speeds of under 10mph in cars , 28mph isn't an issue) although even a 3 pin plug is an issue for most Londoners who don't have driveways - hopefully they will come and the lamp post plug in points will flourish and would be great as a rental or ownership option . Citroen are the most innovative thinkers when it comes to cars - they always have been
Absolutely would drive it! The appearance is unpretentious, it has a very specific purpose and should be embraced. Ideal for short work-commute, supermarket etc. On that premise, the driver would know the appropriate 30mph route to take. Councils should of course provide 100% Free parking *Anywhere*, if there are dedicated AMI corrals we should expect free fast-charge also. BIG Thumbs up!!
I think the Ami could be the next vw beetle/citroën 2cv. In the sense that of can put a lot of people on the road because its affordable and cheap to run. Great review btw!

A very cute car. I think in about 5 years there will be an electric car that will fit most drivers. I would be interested in a vehicle that has a distance of at least 200 miles and speed of at least 55 miles per hour. Enjoyed your review of the AMI.
"As soon as this thing stops, it's really quite enjoyable" . I drive a 10 year old Leaf with a pretty degraded battery (Full charge range is now only about 50 miles), so I can understand your concern re speeds and ranges. Your video review was very well done, as well as informative. I enjoyed your presentation immensely. (Viewer from central US)
This would be great for those with mobility needs like me, but here in the UK with laws the way they are I doubt it will ever be allowed unless you have a full licence for something.
@@grahamjohnpreston Of course it will. It's the UK. You need a license to have licenses over there. Absolutely insane place, from a foreigner's perspective.
@gilburton - Worth mention that old "trikes" in UK (ex. Reliant Robin) were definitely car related. But modern trikes in Europe (simply Google trikes or ATV) it will be immediately evident. Tend to be radically different things! And modern trikes in Europe are for all effects and purposes a "motorbike". So not so much of a surprise! About the so called "dispenstion/derogation". Most that blindly swallow the Brexit bullocks excuses! Forgot to mention that EU never imposed!! All these car/trikes, etc. regulations were/are advisory, not mandatory! A small detail conveniently forgotten! Another curious consideration is that UK, seated at the same assembly, as the rest! AND could VOTE as the rest! Admittedly whenever a gov. need to throw the blames on someone or something. Typically the "EU" take the blames, one way or another! LOL 😂 As a mere example that's the reason why, the MOT in UK, is NOT like their counterparts in Germany, Poland or Portugal, etc. The regulations about the reflective vests or the reflective emergency triangle are another basic example. We could say the same about SO many other subjects! ;-)
I am old enough to remember milk floats, they were great, nippy and ahead of their time!!? Good review and a lot safer than a lot of transportation. Rush hour in any town or city makes this a real viable option imho. I love 2CVs and could see myself subscribing to this to go where buses don’t. Thanks
Finally, a car that's perfect for Richard Hammond! 😁 Me too though as we're the same size. I'd love to try one out, especially as there's no need for complicated chargers!!!☺
You don't need a license in the U.K. You need a licence! 😉 As someone with mobility issues, I think these cars are a great idea - especially in a city. The only real downside is the rest of the traffic on the roads that will tend to take away the enjoyment of driving one of these. That and (of course) the problems with parking!
No real issues with parking in Westminster. I understand ev spaces are free, but designated or residential spots unless you have a permit are a bit of a problem. Having known the joys of using a Reva g wiz, it's something you might be able to live with.
Ugly isn't it and exactly the same except the rear window has the bit that hangs over to let rain run down and looking at the wing mirrors should help. Them hexagonal wheels though, how it run on them 🤔 😁
Another superb review again Tish! The Ami looked very interesting and unique! Considering the price, I believe it seemed very practical and just gets the job done! I like the look of it, but probably wouldn't want to be seen in one unless it was at like a theme park (😂)! I was wondering what you're thoughts and feelings are sitting in and driving a left-hand drive vehicle! Keep doing what you're doing with the terrific reviews! Can't wait for the next episode dropping soon! 👌🏻👏🏻👍🏻
That's exactly why they wont catch on. People don't like tiny cars. I bet most of the people on here who are saying they're great will find at least one reason not to buy one.
Perfect urban EV. There is no holding up really, 28mph is plenty fast enough for streets where folk live. Most cities/towns have 30 or 20 mph in the inner portions , so the likelihood of being on a faster road will be minimal.
That's fine if the whole route fits inside the old city. One step outside into the "normal world" (80 km/h in my city) and it's an imminent disaster - unless there are dedicated lanes just for things like these. Perhaps they will make fine short-term urban rentals, if the rate is not too high.
@@jmi5969 Why would it be rear ended? its not a tiny object. Vehicles have to slow down when seeing a slower moving vehicle, whther an urban EV, horse rider, or cyclist
Love the review Tish. I'd drive one! Perfect for nipping around and about. I'm going to register my interest with a view to buy one if they come here. Subscribed 👍
Let's not forget that compared to the original 2CV (which the Ami is clearly inspired by, as a concept if not design-wise) this is a performance monster with FOUR TIMES the horsepower. 😉
That's the future and it's looking good. A fabulous 'car' (I know, I know) and only Citroën could this. It's what they do best. Back in the late 70's I had an Ami Estate; ugly/beautiful, eccentric, brilliant at what it was designed to do. Just like this one. A quality review, really well presented. Thanks🙂
I would love one in he US. What Smythe Richbourg said goes for me also. Work is only 3.5 miles away and none of the roads are over 35 MPH. Right now I ride an electric Trike and get very cold and wet sometimes. Love the suicide door on the drivers side. Great review. Thanks....
I like almost everything about this 'car !' apart from how far you can drive on one 'full' 3 hour load... I guess it will be updated year-on-year and fitted with more and better batteries (as THEY are developed) it will go further on one 'load' and THEN I buy one!
You did a good job with your review. The car is on the cusp of being more universally acceptable if it could have a version with 40-45mph and about an 80 mile range. Based on your reporting you said that the battery was 5kw. Perhaps you meant 5kwh or you meant a 5kw motor? BTW, you didn't give any specs for the motor? Joe Engel Philadelphia
One thing I’ve not heard mention is the accessibility for people who are disabled or lack mobility such as myself. As a 28 year old male walking with a waking pole is hard enough emotionally given the self-image/vain/judgemental society we live in. So a mobility scooter was not on the cards. With this Citroen, my choices are open!! Great in-depth review! Thanks.
Unfortunately Evan I can’t see it being very good. The doors are very heavy and do not stay open, the seats are also very hard. Which is a real shame and I hope they look at overcoming this issue so it can be an option for people like yourself. Thank you for watching.

@@islandbreezy441 I guess that makes sense, for modesty sake. There was a TV show called Inspector Morse (about 30 years ago) which was a story of a middle-aged grumpy man and in one scene, as he and his Sergeant were staking out a suspect near a girl's school, watching the girls play netball, the main character (Morse) says in wonder "Sergeant, have you ever considered the pervert who designed the girl's school uniform: he had a fantasy and then made it compulsory!" Ironically, in some places in the US (Thankfully not the UK, girls can wear trousers if they want!), some schools are STILL trying to force girls in school into skirts, banning trousers. Actually 28mph is around 45 kmh....and in certain cities the max speed is already at 30kmh.....in such a city, the Ami is not handicaped by it's speed.
I never realised UK speed limits were so slow. We have school zones (40km/h), and 50 zones in the suburbs, but usually getting from one suburb to the next you either take the freeway (100-110) or a main road (70-80). Cheers from Australia.
@@coover65 Many councils are pushing to drop the suburban 50km/h zones to 40. You see rumbling about it now and then, and I'm guessing it's only a matter of time. Speed limits never seem to go up, do they? I guess that would move the school zones to 30 - which, when you think about a 1.5-2 ton car running into a bunch of kids, makes perfect sense to me. A lot of the school warning signs are digital now, and could be reprogrammed to show a 30 just as easily as a 40. (Probably by design...)
Thanks for your excellent review - we have to think outside of the tin box and tailor vehicles to suit peopled town and city living - as always Citroen have done the thinking for us - the place is going to be full of them in the future .love them and happy to travel light 😎

Great review, Tish. I'm not sure how well these would sell in Ireland, if it ever came here. I don't think I have ever seen a Twizy on Irish plates, for example. The Ami certainly looks different, but like the original Ami 6 and 8 in the '60s and '70s, it's quirky, even though they were normal cars.
I live In Ireland and I wanted to buy a Twizzy in UK and bring it here, but I couldn’t because the battery on a twizzy is usually owned by Citroen UK and leased to the vehicle owner.. so you can buy the car and take it to Ireland, but not the battery. I’d buy the new Ami in a heartbeat in Ireland if it was available, I doubt that will be anytime soon though..
Its like a Jetdriven Hamster, build by LEGO duplo. UHHHh I would like one. What is the battery range? And they should make an add on catalog. 1.where the window could stay up like on a 2CV. 2.and a storage shelve in the back for a cain or umbrella. 3.a better steering wheel (alot of the driving experience is there). 4.aloy or magnesium wheels. And add a few more airducts.
1. The window hold EXACTLY like on the 2CV. She didn't know about it... 2 . Rear storage is behind the seat at floor level. The last ones are price and weight related subjects. Worth remember this class of vehicle is severely limited in terms of weight! Price wise, let's as it stands is almost half of the price of an Aixam!! That says a lot. ;-) Edit: Range 75km. ;-)
Car looks great. Thanks for the excellent review. My first car was an Austin Metro City and I love basic small cars. I love the basic steering wheel. I like the Matt paintwork.
If it has drive-by-wire steering, it would no big trick to make an RHD version or the ultimate, one that can be switched on opposite sides of the Chunnel.
it looks pretty good in a weird way and I've driven some heaps in the past so being wrapped in plastic is no problem. if it went upto 40mph I would be very interested and obviously if it did a few miles more to a charge would be brilliant as I live in the middle of Scotland.
The main issue for me would be the absence of a trunk. I don't want to chose between taking my partner with me, or transporting groceries. Also, the charging cable is basically just stuffed into the door. There is no winding mechanism, nothing to 'roll it back in'. Each time you're done loading, you end up jamming it back in the hole that it came from. It also means that, each time, the entire cable slides through your hands and those things can get pretty dirty. Give it a trunk and cable winding mechanism and I'll get on board.
First time I've seen one of your reviews Tish, and I have to say you do a great review, I will certainly be watching more now, great jog 🙂 My daughter is a manager of Costa any tips on how she can live the dream instead? I ask because she hates it!!

JUST DO IT - you have to take a chance and throw yourself into it. I had an accident at 45 and lost my business and became homeless. I started to write books and now I am an author and happier than I have ever been - BUT if it were not for the accident I would NEVER have quite the £££ and the business. You just have to GO FOR IT. If it does not work out, hell she can go work for Lidl. But she needs to do it BEFORE she gets trapped in a career...
I just think of my commute/journey into town ...oddly, I know exactly where the 30mph roads are. Clearly I will avoid any dual-carriageways. If a driver requires to travel on 40mph+ roads it may be "unsuitable" , similarly no one is going to offer a ride/lift to 2 other passengers in a 2 seater sports car...!?
@@paulwood2329 Well said!! No one would recommend an Articulated Lorry to drive down a single country-lane, so why consider driving an AMI on a 40mph road? Clue is in the "Provisional Licence", know where to ride a bicycle = know where to drive an AMI..!!
I think it’s a lot of fun, I could imagine it as a cabriolet and then driving around to the shops in summer sunglasses on 😎 and sun 🌞 beating down and wind in your hair, which is better than a big vehicle in town. When you said “Look at me now living the dream” I really did laugh out loud 😂 fantastic fun review Tishx
I remember seeing old ladies and gents trundling by in their VSPs (vehicules sans permis) in rural France on their way to market/ the cafe/ the supermarket. It is a much safer way to travel than on a moped and useful for people who need to do short journeys in locations where public transport is rare. From what I remember, accidents were rare and insurance relatively cheap, probably because they couldn't do much damage. We need to think a bit more openly about transport solutions, especially with dealing public transport, increasingly crowded roads and higher density living.
Unfortunately, the Voiture sans permis are probably in use more by drink drivers than little old ladies, as it's the only car they can drive once banned. They are a hazard in rural France due to their low speed. Also, as the drivers don't have a licence to lose, they continue drink driving. A bit of a generalisation there, but I have experienced it on more than one occasion. The battered ones are the ones to keep clear of!

ah ah aah! vehicle :P

Looks like it will be horrible over the potholes too. I can see the novelty wearing off very quickly to be honest.

Pretty girl for sure, but some professionalism could set you apart from the crowd! :-(
When doing a video review would be nice to learn at least the bare minimum about the vehicle presented!
You have the (beautiful) figure, now please had the sweat. ;-)

Country lanes? You do realise that country lanes are invariably national speed limit roads, 28MPH versus 60MPH is a recipe for disaster mate.
As a Renault Twizy owner this looks positively luxurious - I'd add that the 28mph top speed of the Ami is likely computer-limited to comply with French rules, so it'll probably be able to do 50-60 'unrestricted'. Either way, I'd buy one!

Brilliant Idea and great review. Nice simple "car" that's what manufacturers should be aiming towards. Looking forward to seeing it in the UK.
Batius has got it spot on! Thank you!
Start handing these out to young teens and it will be carnage.

I think it would also push the price up quite significantly?
Also just seen Richards comment and that de-bunks that!
It's a good idea , but only when Elon musk comes up with light solar panels . Otherwise with the current tech the car would be too slow and too heavy . But it's coming soon to replace batteries .
You could strap on a petrol generator to constantly keep it charged.
Smashing review, Amusing ! Very brave. 👏👏👏
Glad you enjoyed it
As someone who is 77, and someone who does speed watch, I think the AMI is the ideal vehicle for the city, I would however like the battery to give a little more range.

Hahahaha I would pay to see their faces!
I'd leave home if they presented me with one of these things it looks like a deathtrap
Yes I live In a golf cart community. This would be cool around the neighborhood.
Perfect urban EV. There is no holding up really, 28mph is plenty fast enough for streets where folk live. Most cities/towns have 30 or 20 mph in the inner portions , so the likelihood of being on a faster road will be minimal.
absolutely!
That's fine if the whole route fits inside the old city. One step outside into the "normal world" (80 km/h in my city) and it's an imminent disaster - unless there are dedicated lanes just for things like these. Perhaps they will make fine short-term urban rentals, if the rate is not too high.

Let's not forget that compared to the original 2CV (which the Ami is clearly inspired by, as a concept if not design-wise) this is a performance monster with FOUR TIMES the horsepower. 😉
hahahaha amazing!
2cv means "2cv tax" in France, but the last 2cv's was 3cv TAX and had a 602cc engine who produce 29hp DIN

Thanks🙂
They do quirky VERY well. Thank you for watching
I would love one in he US. What Smythe Richbourg said goes for me also. Work is only 3.5 miles away and none of the roads are over 35 MPH. Right now I ride an electric Trike and get very cold and wet sometimes. Love the suicide door on the drivers side. Great review. Thanks....
I think if I were a youngster, or an oldie this would be perfect. Way better than a scooter, or a mobility scooter.
I like almost everything about this 'car !' apart from how far you can drive on one 'full' 3 hour load... I guess it will be updated year-on-year and fitted with more and better batteries (as THEY are developed) it will go further on one 'load' and THEN I buy one!
an after market prius battery might do the trick. But 28 mph? Deal breaker.

"As soon as this thing stops, it's quite enjoyable"
As soon as I stop banging my head against a wall...
I feel better.

There's a lot of positives here, especially the charging. Would be good to see a 2 seater
'challenging' weather conditions for a dress! 😬
Hallelujah I chose to put a pair of shorts on that morning!
@@AutoSocialUK I wondered what the hell that was!!? I couldn't figure out what the black thing was because i never knew/known any girl to wear shorts under a dress! 😂😂😜 Wasn't it uncomfortable..? lol. btw: ever tried stockings? More comfortable plus removes the need to wear shorts lol.
@@swannvictor1388 In Bermuda 🇧🇲 we used to use the wear shorts under our shorter school skirts.
I have yet to visit Bermuda, its on my bucket list, but I'm just waiting for that winning Lottery ticket! Cheers from Brunei, Asia.
@@swannvictor1388 The actor who played Inspector Morse was the late great John Thaw. Going back further, he played another Police Inspector called Jack Regan in a show called The Sweeney.
Actually 28mph is around 45 kmh....and in certain cities the max speed is already at 30kmh.....in such a city, the Ami is not handicaped by it's speed.
you're correct. The UK could get more power!
I'm excited to see how they are received in the UK!
Great review nice runaround imagine the transport minister and Boris will be hatching plans to fleece the owners of these

Never got tired listening to you lovely review hope they come to Ireland soon your very convincing
They’re a cool little car, looking forward to seeing how they get used in the UK!
I've got a 25 year old Citroen Saxo, and not only does it have windows that stay open, it even has a rear view mirror!
I never realised I'd bought the executive model.
Great review, It would be very practical around the city and would be do able on quiet rural back roads.
The range is horribly limited.
Very interesting points from you and Andrew.... let's see what the future holds! Thank you for watching!
@@andrewstones2921 that’s funny since Twizzy is a Renault!
If only it can do another 10mph and an extra 10-15 miles of range it would be perfect .
I couldn't agree more.... it is boarder-lining on slightly impractical at the moment
Add a power box. 🔋 that will give you 10-15mph extra speed but wouldn't help with range.
That says a lot. ;-)
Edit: Range 75km. ;-)
Car looks great. Thanks for the excellent review. My first car was an Austin Metro City and I love basic small cars. I love the basic steering wheel. I like the Matt paintwork.
Being left hand drive in the UK wouldn't really make much sense as learners have to get used to right hand drive. Anyway awesome video, love the Lady.
I think because it’s so small, you don’t really notice it being on the wrong side and believe me….. I’m easily confused 😂
You only need right hand drive for overtaking, and you won't be doing much of that in an Ami.
You really do not want to do 40mph in this pile of rubbish. You don't want to meet a crap driver in steel coming the other way either.
@@jamescollins3647 you could be right mate I know plenty of crap drivers that live near me and bin lorry drivers. Maybe a tanks the answer
@@staticxbandit2956 Exactly my point. A small armoured car is easier to park lol.
It needs to do 50mph and a 200 mile range, charging is good at 3 hours, looks a cute little vehicle
Brilliant review, I'd love an AMI!
Thank you for watching
First time I've seen one of your reviews Tish, and I have to say you do a great review, I will certainly be watching more now, great jog 🙂
My daughter is a manager of Costa any tips on how she can live the dream instead? I ask because she hates it!!
Thank you Gary! Just tell her to believe in herself, being a manager is a tough job and I am confident she'd be great at whatever she put her mind to! I do actually miss it some days!
Refreshing to see a slim, attractive woman who doesn't weigh in at 200 lbs.-plus! And dresses appropriately instead of baggy dresses or loose tops.
Hobbits finally can buy their dream car…
Darling they were driving around in full electric smart fourtwos years ago! Those are pretty fantastic too.
Ok boomer
It's the 28mph that kills it really, you're going to be holding other cars up in 30 and 40mph zones.
Yes I agree. We have a guy in a similar car that holds the traffic up in Braintree every rush hour!
Yea
But wait, what of those in mobility scooters at 4 or 8 mph? Don't you think that 28 mph is a big improvement?
It is gorgeous and so practicle for people like myself who doesnt need to travel far. Grat video review btw
Hi.Lovely rundown on the Ami.My son is 6 years old and I got him one to drive around the house. Price is a bit higher than expected but all is well.
OMG it would make a FAB convertible. Like a little classic Fiat 500. For 6,000 you could just take a tin-opener to the top! Glad it made you laugh!

PLUS...... not getting wet! :D
