The guy in machine king has blonde hair and so does David, coincidence? David has fought the Dog and I think that experience early in life is gonna help him fight the force of Arthur Ford. But this is just speculation.
The dog is Arthur. The dog points at David, then at himself, then makes a cradling motion. “You, Me, Child” MatPat originally interpreted this to mean: “You are my child”. But what if instead it meant: “You are me *as a child*”? That would tie in with MatPat’s headcanon that Arthur is a grown up version of David, and would also mean that the dog is the form Arthur takes once he enters the void and become a cryptid himself, and that he’s using the void’s power to circumvent time and space and influence his own past. But that’s just a theory. A comment theory. Thanks for reading. EDIT: We did it boys

Or. I X I One ten one. Remember, it's not just an X. Any and all clues could point to completely different ideas and theories. Given that it's always phrased as I X I, not just X, in a circle, i think it's either absolute 10 (which just means ten units, so it can be both positive and negative equally) or one X one, which leads to a crazy road of nonsense. If it's IXI (l10l), it would have little sense. More than my other theories. IXI exists solely in the Void, but as an absolute character, being both extremes of a scale. Maybe they're against the cryptids because they pose an unpredictable threat to their plan? Idk.
@@MattiaBulgarelli but I want to actually know, what does "χ"/"Chi" actually means though? I know that in Neuroanatomy it means the "crossings of peripheral nerves", but since Ford and the cryptids are already pure consciousness in the void, what does it stand for?
Mini Theory: Arthur may have killed his own mother so that his younger self would feel loss, leading to determination to bring her back and so tries to become immortal so that he doesn’t end up like his mother or something along those lines.
Sabrelake is a security company that works with Gammon and Monogon. Arthur Ford also just so happens to work with/for Sabrelake, since he's the security director at Monogon.
mini theory: going off of what mattpat said, "the void exists outside of *time* and space", arthur ford, after tears of being alone in that void, went crazy with loneliness and decided to travel back, taking to form of a dog in a video game made by the same people who got him there, sort of as payback for his eternal loneliness. but hey thats just a theory, a game theory. EDIT: this is literally the most appreciated comment ive ever had. also, ive been reading replies and i appreciate the feedback.
I feel like that might be what Mat could talk about next episode. I mean, why would the dog want to leave the Void if it was supposedly so cool and let you live forever?
Hey Matpat, when you referred to this series as a trilogy near the end of the video, did you forget that there was a game between Boneworks and Hall of the Machine King on that door labeled "DeadFM" or do you believe it's in some way separate to the other three?
I think he’s suggesting that “DeadFM” isn’t related to the games including Arthur Ford and it’s more a game about stopping the the animal cryptids but dumb thought, probably wrong.
What if X is actually supposed to be called “Absolute X” it would explain the lines on either side of the x- they look like the absolute value sign. Maybe that could have larger implications later?
I've seen some other diet theories about how Arthur traveled back in time when he was in the Voidway because he was outside time and space which leads me to the tape of 'It's Me' which I'm stealing from another comment What MatPat thought it meant: "You are my baby" What it probably means: "You are me, but younger"
This feeds into @the Isak Serhan Syndicate comment of how he would have gotten into the game in the first place, since the void exist out of time and space itself. Makes sense.
I believe the Dog from Duck Season is Arthur/David. The IT'S ME tape when played shows the Dog pointing at the player, David, and then back at him, proceeding to make a cradling hand motion indicating a baby. We previously thought this meant he was saying, "You are my baby," but after that was proved wrong by the developers, I think he was trying to say something else. "You are me as a baby/kid." He points toward the player, back at himself, then makes the baby arm gestures. After Arthur/David materialized in the void, maybe he got stuck and found the dog costume from when he was a child. After going mad from spending what seemed like an eternity in the void, he decided to recreate his past, becoming the very thing that killed his mother. It may also explain the 7th ending in which it shows the Dog controlling what's happening. After reaching immortality in the void, he tried everything he could to help contact his past self, but nothing would work. That's when he decided to use brute force instead. It's also why in the Nuke Ending, the Dog comforts David. Please give me your comments and like this so Matt can see.
@@coolboymcswag2040 the void exists outside of time and space, so he could have very easily traveled to any time he would've liked. He did travel back in time. I don't know why he chose the dog costume but he did.
The Dog is David going back in time to stop David from doing all of this. It’s why in “It’s Me” he points to David then him, then cradles a baby “You’re me as a child.”
it looks like the void isnt a really pleasnt existence considering how the shadow people are shaking and slumped over like we see when arthurs body dies or the void is actually heck and being like the cat live there as either the evil dead or demons and opeing the door way like arthur did lets them back into the real world
Honestly if that's all there is to it, then maybe we're giving the developers more credit than they deserve. First of, tricksters doesn't necesarilly mean everything they say is a lie, a lot of tricksters in fiction aren't liars, some of the best of all time bascally never lie. If that was the intention, simply saying "they are liars" would have been infinetly better, saying "they are tricksters" make it seem like there's some game they're playing that you should pay attention to in order to "beat them". Second, if the Bad Dad Bad Kid was just something they told you, then sure, but is actually an important part of the game, directly being part of the solution of a puzzle. If they are making it such a point to emphatize it, you can't simply say "well there was one line that implies it isn't trustworthy so you should have known better than to pay any attention to it" that's just bad storytelling. Thirdly, the fact that there are a number of other elements troughout the game, a lot of thhem actually hidden meaning you have to make an effort to find them, that points towards it being true, many of which are *not* related to the cat and/or monkey can't be explained away by that line, so that alone completely eliminates the idea that you should disregard the Bad Dad Bad Kid thing based on that line by X.
I had that same theory but couldn't figure how to word it. Building off of what you wrote, what if he only came in contact with products of the company that got him there in the first place twice in his life? (Reliably at least) If he is the guy in the dog suit, I see this as a way of him ending everything and ever preventing the nightmare that he would later get into when he becomes a double agent.
I feel like the dog is actually a step dad whom the mom had an affair with, which is why the biological father isn't there and why there's the phrase "Bad Dad Bad Kid". So I believe the biological dad worked for Gammon and as revenge trapped the step dad in the game. The creators did mention they were gonna have an ending where the father is the dog, but didn't say which father...
Just realized that I’ve watched this channel since I was in sixth grade and now I’ll be graduating high school in June. Crazy how time flys but this channel will always be a favorite of mine
What if... It's another "the sequel is actually the prequel scenario?" What if Arthur is actually David's dad or Arthur is the whole reason that the Dog is able to jump between realities? Bone works may be a somewhat origin story on the struggle over control over these reality jumping creatures and the dog is an... I dunno a virus or something? OR WHAT IF THE DOG IS ARTHUR SOMEHOW??? All of this is speculation pay no mind to me
Considering Boneworks has such extreme technology, it would logically have to take place many years into the future. The events of Duck Season happened in 1988. Unless their universe had such advanced technology in the 1980s, there's no way that Boneworks could be what caused the Dog to jump from a video game into reality. I don't think Arthur somehow traveled back in time and altered the past so much that the Dog learned to pass through worlds, but it's definitely a valid theory regardless,,,,
@@callysta5160 If we ignore the "exist outside of time" bit, the Dog was probably brought about because of Gammon starting to abuse the Voidway. Same with the Cat escaping into Dead FM. However we have no idea of knowing "when" they were created. X seems to allure to that these Cryptids always having existed and that human interference through games opened the gate to our reality. Perhaps they were banished through some ritual in the past? We know "magic" exist as we see in the ritual. Maybe they're of Eldritch origin or something akin to demons? Who knows. I also wonder if the thing Ford experiences is an eternal struggle. He keeps succeeding only to have to fight his past self over and over again. Like something out of Greek mythos.
You'd have to ignore the developers comments saying that the dad is the dog theory was a lie. Granted I dont know enough about them to know if they have a history of trolling theorists like Scott Cawthorn, (geez MatPat is right fnaf just shoves comparisons into this series even bvb when you're not trying to) but generally speaking when a video game company responds it's usually to clear up any confusion. If they wanted there to be confusion they usually just let the internet go wild and eventually a million different theories or concepts for general lore spring up and spread so much that people cant even tell what's canon and what's fanon.
I think it’s more that his consciousness has access to the nullbodies, but isn’t actively using them. So they’re still nullbodies, but if he wanted to, Arthur could take them over. Check out Sync The Movie by Corridor Digital (who I know have connections to the Stress Level Zero team, by the way), and you can get where I kind of got that idea.
Maybe it’s a security measure. The Arthur that is ruling the void knew others would try to use the void, so he has to be able and willing to fight anyone who walks in, regardless of what they look like since they are digital avatars. The ruling Arthur also knows that his younger self will be able to make it through despite this because he himself had already done it.
His room is a QR code probabaly. ever single one is a piece to a qr code and if you connect everything together correctly it will probably give you something like a video or picture. like so matt can see this because it might reveal something

Stress Level Zero: **Shows a new game with possible bloody violence and many other things that will be harmful and not child appropriate** Matpat: So I have chosen... *demonetization*
If that is how it works, I find the logic behind it quite silly. To put it simply, adults buy things for themselves as well as their children and cutting all ad revenue just because a video is not accessible to a certain demographic makes zero sense.
@@july4378 I think a lot of games that want to scare people these days are indirectly tapping in to the biggest fears of this era which includes the impact of social media allowing people to make post after post with intent to alter peoples thoughts and actions even to the point of committing lethal violence and VR ai's escaping to cause harm or infect peoples minds is a more direct and entertaining way of showing it.
Just started watching the video and at 1:53, but something caught my eye. Why is X and absolute value? Is this mysterious x person calling himself the absolute being or that no matter what he does it’s always for the greater good (hence values in a absolute value or always positive)
Might have to do with him being a different "value" when in the VR world and when outside of it? Like his "absolute" version? Probably not, but just the first thing I thought of.
The same in both worlds - in the positive and negative halves - because he exists in the void outside of time. The Zero value. Stress Level Zero. Everything and nothing. Existing in all places and times by existing in none of them - outside of time and space. In essence, a GOD.
He seems to be more open to reveal the actual story though. Sure, hide it behind easter eggs and the like. But it seems like he's trying to be consistent about it. He corrected Matpat and gave an explanation. Unlike Scott saying "well you're wrong. but I won't say what's real either."
DEADFM is the radio station thing in bonelab, it has the same name on the radio in the levels, could that mean that the cat named “9” is in the depths of monogon and mythos?

Okay, but my brain keeps autocorrected in a weird way. You know the “Duck Season, Rabbit Season” bit from Bugs Bunny? Well, that, but duck season, boneworks.
My Dad had that exact cat clock until the constant thrashing of the pendulum from side to side, due to the fact he put it in his motorhome and the entire thing swayed when driven (especially when my Dad drives it because he's used to driving a Semi truck and a pick-up, both I assume have stronger engine springs or something... anyways I mean it when I say that it's the exact model of clock... so it'd make a great piece of SLZ merch but I don't know if it'd be able to copyright it.)

It could be that there isn’t enough information to go upon besides wild guesses.
Sabrelake is a security company that works with Gammon and Monogon. Arthur Ford also just so happens to work with/for Sabrelake, since he's the security director at Monogon.

Mr R a valid point
Big Boi that’s a solid idea, good stuff
So did david go back in time or went into another dimension where he was still a child

My exact thought since the dad is confirmed as incorrect. What else could he mean but "you're me, but younger".
I think you nailed it
Stolen.
I mean you could’ve at least credited Nate TSO
it looks like the void isnt a really pleasnt existence considering how the shadow people are shaking and slumped over like we see when arthurs body dies or the void is actually heck and being like the cat live there as either the evil dead or demons and opeing the door way like arthur did lets them back into the real world
X: the monkey and cat are tricksters, (meaning they lie, there for bad dad bad kid is a lie)
matpat 2018: Imma pretend like i didn't see that.
Thirdly, the fact that there are a number of other elements troughout the game, a lot of thhem actually hidden meaning you have to make an effort to find them, that points towards it being true, many of which are *not* related to the cat and/or monkey can't be explained away by that line, so that alone completely eliminates the idea that you should disregard the Bad Dad Bad Kid thing based on that line by X.
...They tricked MatPat. There is no fourth wall. None of us are safe.
You should do a vid connecting all three games, bone labs, bone works and duck season

Omg that actually makes a ton of sense
He's in the Voidway outside time and space, I have a feeling it would be rather easy to travel back in time if that's the type of place you'd be in
GeeVee KillMe there never are any specific words, so the cradle could mean younger
MatPat: This video is already WAY too long
Me: **checks watch time**
Me: Bro it’s like 15 min
Gotta conform to the algorithms, man
Back in the day 5 minute videos were long
I feel like the dog is actually a step dad whom the mom had an affair with, which is why the biological father isn't there and why there's the phrase "Bad Dad Bad Kid". So I believe the biological dad worked for Gammon and as revenge trapped the step dad in the game. The creators did mention they were gonna have an ending where the father is the dog, but didn't say which father...
This is a year later but it's confirmed the dog is just a demon and not related to the kid.

I don't know, things seem to get grander not smaller
You'd have to ignore the developers comments saying that the dad is the dog theory was a lie. Granted I dont know enough about them to know if they have a history of trolling theorists like Scott Cawthorn, (geez MatPat is right fnaf just shoves comparisons into this series even bvb when you're not trying to) but generally speaking when a video game company responds it's usually to clear up any confusion. If they wanted there to be confusion they usually just let the internet go wild and eventually a million different theories or concepts for general lore spring up and spread so much that people cant even tell what's canon and what's fanon.
But hey that just theory
A game theory
cool, now do one just pointed at boneworks and then one at bonelab.
12:41 but wouldnt that mean Arthur is trying to stop himself from entering the void?
Isn't it a reference to the VR room Valve had? w/ all the QR-code looking stickers?

Shouldn’t be that much of a problem given Coppa’s UA-cam Policy meaning this channel is not for kids.
