Beautiful (poetry in motion), rare & very valuable footage enhanced by your insightful personal commentary on your Father, his special career & other key observations ( the horse's fluid gait, the power/conformation & other qualities an insider would come to understand and observe. I was only somewhat dismayed by the music's volume (and though a tremendous classic, I was distracted from both the visuals & your delightful commentary, well-modulated voice, clear enunciation, obvious love of horse & special rider). The musical rhythms don't echo or match the regular gait rhythms (try Baroque next time) and though the music served as transition between non-narrated segments, those of us who are learning to better perceive & understand what's both clearly before us (a terrific Saddlebred) & useful description, those immortal notes weren't necessary for this viewer. How lucky you were!! and many thanks for sharing this with We Saddlebred lovers!
Thank you for this important and historic view of a great horse, and the outstanding bloodlines behind him. His shoulders were outstanding, and enabled the length of his stride, and the coordination of his front and rear angulation.
I think I groomed a daughter of Sunset Commander when I worked at Delaine Farm in the late 1970s. The mare's name was Commanders' Admiration, and she won the Mare Gaited Stake at Rock Creek the year before before being purchased by Delaine Farm.
I have shared this all over FB..sent to friends...I love this and cannot believe I had not seen it before now.
