Few updates! First I messed up the bis list I linked. I was having issues with sixtyupgrade and kept having to reset the character. It happened like 5 times and each time little items kept getting wrong. Here is the updated bis list - sixtyupgrades.com/sod/set/w4gDjZxjx7J5RKAr8hA7TU
Second, our usage of living bomb might be slightly different than I explained in the video for single target fights. It's possible that we should avoid using living bomb on single target fights until Deep Freeze is on cooldown. Since living bomb can consume fingers of frost, that will screw over our Deep Freeze. You might want to hold off on using living bomb until your first deep freeze, specifically on single target fights. Not 100% sure on this yet, but do keep it in mind!

Thanks man, switched to Frost a few days ago for leveling. Good to see it's doing ok in the raid as well as I'm loving it. Do you also have a pre-bis list as I'm about to ding 50.
There is an AOE spec where you ignore either or both of ice barrier and ice block and put a point or two in improved blizzard so it can proc your FOF and crit on the living bombs

In my guild I am one of two mages and last week we decided this would be the best thing to do and it was crazy 😂 I am playing fire and the other mage full frost just like this video suggests. And it definitely is amazing for the frost mage at least he was doing a bit more DMG than me but still I the crit chance helps me so it's all good
ive been playing frost since first lockout and im having so much fun tbh. we regularly have 3 mages so figured id take the L and give them the buff but ive been out'dpsing them. also doesnt Elixir of Firepower increase the damage of your ignite?
this is very good content for mages wanting to swap to frost, I also thought on this and swapped to frost like 2 weeks ago, which u didn't mention it's also KILLER in PvP. Got lucky I also bought 2 freezing bands like for 400g, and then sold 1 on the AH for 1200g, setting the price. But I'm still thinking if the epic ring from ST which gives 15 SP for both fire and frost, is better than another freezing band in terms of dps, considering hoy many bombs u are using with that +15 sp vs frost sp. I've been trying to simulate it on sims and still don't know how

is the deep freeze batching giving ffb dmg from the shatter or is deep freeze doing the dmg?
Hey glad you made a vid after the stream, one quetion. If you go FoF + Deep Freeze do you have to then stack frostpower? is it not viable going firepower with those runes?
You could prolly stack firepower but frost power gonna be better if you are running deep freeze overall.

I’m playing frost but I’m using the burnout chest rune. With full world buffs and consumables after winter’s chill is stacked my frost fire bolt is at 54% crit. I like it better than fof rng.
For BiS I think you missed the Huku’s Hex Cape (10 int/15 spell dam) and possibly Bonecaster’s Belt of Fiery/Frozen Wrath with +26 fire or frost dmg. I know at least for the standard fire build +26 spell dmg was better than the Highlander’s Girdle, though I’m not sure how much spell dmg +1% crit is worth for the new frost build (it was equal to around 9 spell dmg for fire).
Atal’ai Hexxer’s Gloves is probably really close to Frostweave Gloves too, +10 int (which provides some crit) at a loss of only 2 spell damage. Plus Hexxer’s gives +spell damage whereas Frostweave is only +frost, so the Hexxer gloves boost Living Bomb and Fire Blast (which can be part of the rotation when needing to move if the mana cost isn’t an issue).
Ah yup, def fucked up the bis list and linked the wrong one. Everytime i was updating sixtyupgrades it was breaking and I would have to restart. Huku's Hex Cape for sure. Also agreed about the belt, just comes down to where crit ends up. I think crit is prolly better since we run ignite but not sure.
Priod spell damage in general over int since mana is just not an issue at all anymore with the changes to paladins. I didnt even get close to ooming once in raid, and never had to evocate. All solid points tho.
Also, do you reckon it's better to not take the last point in Ice Barrier and instead go for Flame Throwing 1 point? If purely from a PvE parsing perspective?
I answer that in the video, I prefer ice barrier to avoid pushback

On single target fights is it worth it to run ice lance and cast it with FFB to ramp up the winters chill stacks?

doesn't FFB benefit equally from "of fiery wrath" or "of frozen wrath" ? Why not get the 13 fire damage wand from brd if so? Also fiery wrath pieces would be more desired if this is the case since both FFB and living bomb benefit from fire but only FFB benefits from frost. Someone please correct me if i'm mistaken.
I explain in the video FFB doesn't double dip. It picks the higher of the two. We also use deep freeze as a part of our main rotation, which doesnt benefit from fire damage.

ive played it yesterday with 2 mages and my dps decreased like 3 times :D i have no clue how spamming 1 button made me do less damage, on first boss in fire i was doing 1.2k dmg, yesterday i did like 500-600, i still cant explain and need to study logs.
Why do I feel like I'm struggling with the spell batching? Or is my lb prob just eating my proc? Feels like it never works

Yes and damage too, I take 6% fire and 6% frost damage (3 points firepower and 3 points piercing ice 0/28/13) with my spec as we have a fire mage for improved scorch and a frost mage for winter's chill. I also swap between spell power and brain freeze, both work out the same and if rng does go ham brainfreeze is nuts, but spell power is more consistent. But to clarify it does not double dip from spell power, as explained it's the highest of the two.
I don´t really have any frost Spelldmg items.
Generally Frostfire Bolt takes the +Dmg from the school that is higher, right?
So if i have Fire higher than Frost, does it count as a fire Spell and not benefit from the Frost talents, or doesn´t that matter at all?

Your own arcane intellect counts as better buff, so it cannot be applied.

the problem with living bomb is it eats your fingers proc and causes a big dps loss
Yup, sounds like you should only be using living bomb if deep freeze is on CD on single target fights at least.
I feel like they should decrease the CD of deep freeze, getting FoF procs while freeze is still on CD feels very bad.

those are the default ones, there's an option to split it by group in the settings, let me check where and I'll edit. Under Interface/Raid Frames/Keep Groups Together

Fire mages are literally using 1 ability over and over after scorch stacks are applied, what are you on about?
Not really true, though. Good fire mage parses in phase 2 were optimizing living bomb uptime between firebolts as well as living flame or icy veins, throwing pyroblast on hot streak procs, and even pre-casting pyroblast on boss pulls.
@@LowRezWorld are we in phase 2? This is phase 3. No top parser is using fire bolt or pyroblast, maybe besides at the start of an encounter. You still keep uptime on living bomb with frost spec. It’s the literal exact same gameplay except fire keeps scorch uptime & frost uses deep freeze

Does aoe fire damage around you, its for super sweaty people who care about speed running and trash damage. Not required at all, only use it if you are a sweatlord.

We've actually known frost was going to be good from before Phase 3, atleast the mage discord. Sims were showing before the phase dropped frost would be highly competitive with fire. For the first few weeks Warcraftlogs was showing most frost parses as fire mages, so it made frost look worse than it actually was. I think thats where the misconception might have come from. WCLs is fixed now though, its able to track if your frost from winterschill now.
