- Showing further progress from the April 22 video, we complete the final assembly of the intake and accessories of the J47 turbojet. This engine will be installed in a North American F86-F Sabre, and flown in airshows throughout the USA.

Thanks!
You have a dream job...
I'm in college studying aerospace engineering, and getting ready for finals.
Your videos are my study breaks.
Thanks for sharing your experience with these incredible machines!
Great to see someone keeping these classic engines going. It's interesting that early turbojets had the accessory drive in the nose. I would think that would affect engine performance - a narrower compressor inlet and presumably ram compression from the bulbous nose cone. By the next gen J79 GE moved the accessories to the bottom of the engine.
Thank for the videos I really enjoy them. This is better then the Discovery channel. Thank you for sharing

Clean as a whistle, beautiful sight.
@1metiz Checklists and build sheets are common with engines, both industrial and aerospace. This engine is no longer supported by GE, so there are noo manuals or paperwork available. I was able to obtain the overhaul manual from Eflightmanuals, and we are using that as a reference.
Blindfolded? I couldn't even pour a glass of milk blindfolded...
If that's not the coolest engineering job (rebuilding jet engines) then I cannot think of what is!
I like to use a speed handle for the V-Bands, you can snug it pretty quickly while keeping positive pressure on the generator.
Agent jzay you doing great work
Ahhh another great video!, you really make me miss the workshop, thanks a bunch
best teaching.. thanks to senior...
@LarryCanFly This engine is designed to run at 8000 rpm, and the auxiliary drive, which is what our speed pickup is mounted to, turn at a ratio of 9:20, or 45% of engine speed.
Good question. I ask it a lot. The oil lines are critical, and so are fuel lines. Yet they have no locking or safety mechanism on their couplings. Why ?
Answer is: I don't know.
It makes you extra careful knowing that.
Ive learned a lot from your video's..thanks my friend
Nice work
great job show that hunk o metal whose boss!
I'll be tuning in to see that baby scream into life :)
Coming right along like a fluid.. Next on the playlist is the test cell.. 1947 they designed this.. Seems like 2000 tech.

Very nice thanks
Looks like a starter, a beefy one at that. I think you should add a few more lines and hoses before ya slip that cover on. lol
What happens if you have a slight leak somewhere.
@AgentJayZ Thank you very much for your reply. i look forward to viewing the previously made video on the subject.
your videos are great but you say things like his it the right part , better be and man don't be afraid too ask for help. love your videos they help me greatly thanks.
The other soundtrack of people discussing the merits of hiding gear in coffins was better :)
Beautiful
. Good job i like it
Wow saw beautiful
Great video!, was wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction when sourcing out reference material for the GE J47 (technical manuals/design features etc.)
Yes. A company called Eeflightmanuals dot com is where we obtained a collectors edition of the US Air Force Training manual about the J-47.
They have a lot of listings... have fun!
Do you still need to check the manual before each step or have you put so many of these engines together that you can do it blindfolded?
Do you you have some sort of checklist fo each and every part/ action to make sure you don't forget anything?
Great vids, very informative!
Tank for the video🌄🌍🎆🏝
put that thing on the back that f850 Ford pickup truck extra speed and Power especially with pushing a high-speed train down the tracks
This was fun to watch! more of there is something i would enjoy!
but the informative vids are great to! :)
Aren't we, not suppose to use crome belated tools when assembling jet engines
Been watching a lot of your videos. Quick question. How do you guys do it as far as qc for your work do you have a TI? Look at it after your done or are you able to sign off your own work and verify it was done correct?
can you do one with better parts description or a flash slide show with more part naming?

chael Millson
nice work!!
Nice
Do any later engines have all the accessories clustered on the front or did they realize that that was inconvenient and changed it for later models?
do they still use safety wire on all jet engine bolts and nuts? we did in the USAF for the J-79's
I don't know about all, but we do use a lot of it.
How strange that today, I started working on the front end of another J47 engine !
I really enjoy your videos, brings back a lot of memories for this old jet engine mechanic (1976-82) Thank you
Humans are really smart
🙄
why hoses connections to fittings no have wire locking? hoses fit very tight, they do not rub each other to the holes?
Seems to be no torque specs for any connections or bolts?
Sir what kind of fuel use in turbo jet enjine i want to know sir
I almost don't want to ask,........but........have you ever got to this stage and realized that something has been forgotten?
How tight do you typically torque on nuts and bolts on a jet engine?
seems like they spend most of the tme looking for and waiting for parts!
"They" is us. You talkin' to me?
Do you the final airworthyness certificate?
Crescent wrench???
+Les Brown Multiple question marks indicate anxiety. What are you scared of?
+AgentJayZ
Hammer never near turbine?
Crescent wrench is adjustable hammer.
show muito bom o vide-o

Answer: Yes.
I'll bet you make a lot of money.
How many mechanic salary? In one month
Your question actually makes no sense, and does not have an answer. Please hang up and try again.

Old engine and rebuild?
Repairs on those engines must be atrocious just looking at all the bolts and parts, never mind parts.
+roger brandt
No. You must follow a procedure and have it checked over by someone not involved. Just in case.
These are precision machines and actually a pleasure to work on.
Hi
Not exactly plug n play is it ? LOL
Garnish future in hands m,AY FREND if you ask vie your video, maybe make new engine off fuel.dott

This jet engine looks badly engineered to me, or perhaps I should say primitve, i.e. early stages of development. Very complicated and too many hoses and things. Advances in experience and knowhow make for less parts.
This is an early model in the history of jet engines. It probably contains one tenth as many parts as a modern turbofan on any large airliner.
@aimpointcx4444 Not supposed to notice the presence of any copyrighted material... I didn't!
i've seen better jobs done on car engines...
You have never worked on a car engine...
And you have never worked on a jet engine...
Correct?
You have no idea what you are talking about.
Look around and learn.
