- Early ice icefishing adventure in Wisconsin. Fished with my good bud Troy on a north/central lake that has a good population of Bass and Panfish. I started out using a horizontal set-up but when Troy had ten fish to my one I switched to a vertical set-up and started catching.
I try to show all the gear we use and how we go about catching our fish. Feel free to ask any questions in the comments below. NFN out...

Is that Garmin striker plus that you re using? For first time Ice fishing what would you recommend? Basic Vexilar fl8 or the Garmin striker?
For the price it's hard to beat the Garmin. It's a GPS combo that marks your spot and shows the fish. I got mine in 2022 for less than $250.00 but found some good deals on black Friday. I'm sure you'll pay more now but if you keep an eye peeled you can find a good deal.
