I'm gobsmacked by this discovery. I use Google voice recognition constantly on my phone. It's virtually flawless. No amount of training will teach Windows speech recognition to work for me and I've longed for the ability to use Google on my phone, so EUREKA! I'm so excited. This WORKS! THANK YOU!

This is absolutely informative. I have a student in my classroom with an occupational disability where writing is extremely difficult for her. She has major fine motor skills issues but is very brilliant. Therefore, I am researching alternate approaches (outside of using that fine motor skill of writing) to aid in keeping up with writing class and not feeling that it is impossible. Sometimes people just an alternate approach. Now that I have learned this tool on google drive, I will assist with teaching her parents on how to use the google drive so that this can be her "writing" accommodation. Keep these videos coming. Thanks for making the video. The main question I have about Google dictation was not addressed though. After you say "period" or "full stop" it doesn't automatically capitalize the first word of the next sentence. This is very frustrating. I tried using the "Capitalize" command. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. If I have to go back and manually capitalize every new sentence it doesn't really save much time.
Question: After you used the command "full stop" and started again, why didn't it capitalize the first word in the sentence?

There are numerous asks below for help on common issues -all of which you've ignored. But you've said numerous thanks to people who say well done. I earned nothing that I hadn't figured out for myself, and ihs hoped some basic help period I'll keep looking......fullstop!!
Hi, thank you for your question and highlighting that other are asking question as well. We have number of different presenters creating content for the AppsEvents channel and they do not monitor these comment sections. We over at AppsEvents do read through as many comments as possible and do our best to respond to as many questions as we can, often by creating additional videos. Hopefully, you found some other videos on the channel helpful and have since found an answer to your inquiry.

Interesting, but I'm concerned about why, for example, using the word "comma" simply results in it typing that word (i.e. the word "comma" appears). Likewise, the country I am in uses the words "full stop" at the end of a sentence, and it took me some time for me to deduce- in spite of me having selected "British English" in the language. that Americans use the term "period"!. So when I finish a sentence and I say "period", it definitely inputs a dot to stop the sentence, but then, (inexplicably)proceeds to input the word PERIOD!! Again I've tried "dot" and any other variations, all to no avail guess what I'm saying is I'm still putting as much time into corrections as it took me to type things out! Is there a solution for this?

I am planning to use this, I want to ask "If I am on a zoom/lark meeting can google voice typing can still work? Especially if I am plugging in a headset. I am not the host of the meeting I just want to simply have google take down all the meeting discussion"
I have just trialled this and not a word appears. My mike is working as I use it for meetings. From this I am assuming that GDocs needs a good mike to work.
After a period, Voice Typing should continue with a capital not a lower letter. Is that a bug?

My problem Google voice is that the recording quality where is greatly from date today. Some days ago with code on my words exactly as I spoke them. Other days, it garbles everything I say.

Why doesn't Voice Dictation capitalize the words at the beginning of each sentence. This appears to be a huge oversight.
At the very least, there needs to be a voice command to complete this task. Where does one find a list of other commands this app/program is capable of?

Why won't it let the first word of each new sentence start with a capital letter? It keeps it lower case. My writing let's me, so the right box is right that has to be set for this to take place. It's like because it's dictation, it's not possible. I don't get it! And I dont know how to fix it

Problem is, Google often doesn't capitalize the first letter of a word after a period. The program seems very poor to be honest. Anyone know why this is?
Google Docs Voice Typing suddenly stop working after 5 minutes and then a window appears with written: Try to load it again or send an error report. And on the microphone icon appears a window with written: You're offline. Voice typing can't be used until you reconnect.
I checked my internet connection and it'working and it's stable.
My microphone is working well. I cleared the cache and data in chrome and reboot the laptop and did not help.

Sadly at the moment these command are still required. Although many advances have been made since and the experience continues to get better.
What do you do if 'Voice Typing' is not in the Tools menu?
If voice typing is not in the tools menu, you may not be using the Google Chrome browser. Are you using another browser such as Safari, Edge or Firefox?

I find dictation accurate enough but the commands are ignored. I have just completed a 104,000 word novel. I have arthritis in my hands and need to be able to dictate, so how frustrating it is that after a full stop, the dictation has not realised we are into a new sentence and does not give it an initial capital letter, neither does it obey the commands 'new line' or 'new paragraph'. I manually changed the paragraph. This is what it transcribed.

This is the beginning of a new paragraph. sentence. this is a new sentence comma unfortunately although I speak very clear English you cannot understand the commands new line comma new paragraph comma and you also do not understand that a new sentence begins with a capital letter.
Anyone else having this issue in 2020 Aug? On a samsung galaxy S series phone, I'm using the keyboard mic button to record text, but often there is a delay and the system returns some other person's message which shows for a brief moment and then gets erased.

The sentences and capitalization improves over time but is far from perfect.
