I dig how your getting these builders that don't get paid to build these cars. It's all love. The best type of builders.
I am an absolute ElCamino nut, especially the "67" ! This is one of the best builds I've ever seen, and I Love this "Truck" LOL! Grew up with the "65,67,70, and 89" I believe! I fell in love with these Beautiful machines that drove better than most cars on the road at that point in time! I'm at a loss for words, but I wish I definitely had this, Bad Boy! Love it! Great job Brother!
It's never too late bud. I have a nice 1966 Elcamino for sale. 40 yr owner on title and 74k orig mi's.
@@christ510 Nice!! Afraid to ask, any details on the car, state, price?Had my 67 28 yrs need a tamer one to daily
Lovethe lines on these trucks esp the rear quarter panel
Now that's my kind of style, a brutal, simple 60's Elky in flat black. I love it!
My grandfather had a 67 with a 454 inside. I found it for sale, completely restored and sitting out on a country road. It was pearl white with tan leather seats and a chromed out interior. I drove 60 miles to my grandfather's without thinking too much about that el Camino. While sitting on his porch we chatted about my job and everyday things. I then noticed him get quiet after a while. As if he were in deep thought and then he said, "son, I want an el Camino again before I die."
Instantly I remembered that el Camino and I said, "I know where one is that's practically new."
Next thing I knew we were picking up my uncle to follow us 60 miles in we bought the car. He wanted me to drive back while he sat passenger because he had a few beers.
We arrived at the field with car, snagged a number from the fence post beside and we called from the country store nearby and waited for the owner.
My grandfather and I test drove it up and down the road and after a good half hour he decided he had to have it.
On the way home, we took the back way through a series of country roads and as we neared his house he said, "son, open her up for me and see how fast she goes. Just one time." I didn't miss a beat and put the pedal through the floor. That car absolutely buried us in those seats and all I could hear was my grandfather laughing and screaming, "keep her pinned!!! Let's see what she can do!!" Absolute pleasure and joy seeing my grandfather so happy.
When we got back to his house he said, "drive around the block twice to let the neighbors know I got a new car and rev the engine." I happily obliged.
I drove that car for my grandfather, more than he ever drove it himself. We traveled to car shows, drag races and every speedway we could find during the summer. When he passed, the family divided his assets and sold the car. I didn't mind, for the memories are enough to last a lifetime. After watching this video, I think im gonna drive my car out into the country and see if I can't find me another el Camino.
When a hobby becomes an obsession! Loving the manual conversion!
He’s definitely obsessed and built a killer ride
This channel always has the Manliest cars built right.
Cool car, cool owner , funny how those often go together on this channel :)
That’s the custom muscle world...pretty much always cool people with these great builds
Subframe Black.
Subframe Black.
The 1967 chevy elcamino is definitely my dream car!!
Me too ive been wanting one ever since i could remember
El Camino, one true American classic... Absolutely love it
If only I lived on the street where you ripp these badass rides at. I would definitely have my lawn chair out😎.
That El camino is a screamer! So simple and well done. Love the flat black and the wheels! The cage is the icing on the cake! Its his 1st ride and he kept it. Great story. Keep the rides coming and stay safe!
Love this build and it’s story. 22 years and still going. Awesome!
I’ve been waiting for this to drop. There’s so much time and thought into this build. Hats off man 🙏🏼
He nailed it on this build and is such a cool guy...yours is coming soon bro
AutotopiaLA I love these videos 👊🏽
Well balanced car. Like you said , around 500hp is all you need. I drove a camaro with a little over 600 hp and it was tough to handle. If you hit a slick spot, watch out. Great video.
Agreed all the way...power to weight is key imo
I got that exact same year, and is actually currently my first car. I just gotta get it running lol
Get it going!!
One humble kool guy here. Great build and I'm betting that his son will be the imagining force for the next phase of this car's existence.
Very cool guy and a great build with a killer history
Great car, I just sold a 67 and working on a 66. I’m going towards the drag race setup, but this build is more street friendly and all done with him and his buddies 👍🏼 really cool
Blown away by how simple, but well worked out the whole build is!
Same for me especially that cage work!
My kind of guy. Learn and do it all yourself. Awesome details like the 376 emblems.
mynameis63 thank you very much. Evans CNC did a great job on the emblems.
1996 I bought my first car....a 1967 El Camino...
Just wish I still had it!
Awesome story and awesome Elcamino. My first car 1970 elcamino. Got it in ‘78 still have It. Blown 496
Love it!
I don't think I've ever seen a caged El Camino until now & it really works. I like how he said it's evolving, too. This car has legs!
TheGunfighter45acp thank you
CLASSIC CHEVY EL CAMINO FULL OF PURE GM POWER
Beast this one
For a cam/heads 376 that is real good power he is putting down! ALmost sounds like a solid roller.
Wanted so bad to put a 4 pt in my 67 but wasnt sold on my head not smacking it....or if I got pulled over (cant have a cage in CA)
Id have a real bad day. Some days I miss having mine in primer also. Kick azz ride!
Damn she's good looking. And what a great sound. I had also El Camino at the 90's for about 6-7 years. I remember one night I was just cruising around the city, when the police stopped me just to tell that my El Camino has a awesome sound and we chatted there in the side of the road about ten minutes. Self builded 2 inch exhaust pipes from front to the tail end.
For a car that flexed a ton from the factory that thing is rock solid. Sweet.
👍👍Very awesome road loving it
Dude you never fail to have the coolest rides and owners on here, This is the best car channel on UA-cam
Multiple times watching this one. Love them ELs
I could listen to this song all day Shawn
It’s a really good one
The sound the Elky makes is awesome wow,What a cool car
What a great story behind this ride! How awesome to still have vehicle you learned to drive in. And then to go through the various evolutions over the years is so cool. As well as learning Chris did a lot of the work himself. This El Camino is definitely bad ass!! Hats off to Chris!! Cool ride and cool owner!👍👍🤘🤘
Agreed all the way Johnny and 22 years later still enjoying it and impressing people with his build
Sweet ride! There's something about an El Camino. It's all American. No middle ground. If the bed is functional, it's a truck. A very low and good looking truck. Great video!!
Roger Jackson thank you
Love your car, I restored A 67 El Camino in 1985, after my 70 Chevelle got wrecked. I've had several Chevelle's, & Comaro's & nova's in the past but the El Camino was my favorite! Of course I had to have A SS hood on mine!
Fantastic Video and Chris is such a great guy!!!
Never seen a cage through the back window before.
That LS3, accounting for 15-20% drivetrain losses, is making 619-646hp at the crank.
Also, fun fact. The ElCo is built on the wagon frame. That gap in the bed? That's where the passenger footwell would be. Chevy just panelled it off. Would've been smart for storage, though.
MLP-Hot-Rod yeah that was our guess
That cage work is what caught my eye initially
That thang is bad ass from the bay baby!
cutty 4688 that’s right 🙌🏻
Now that is an AWESOME ride.
Not a big fan of the El Camino but this one is gorgeous! I have been converted. What a well rounded car and a great story behind the builds. Respect 🙏🏾
Benny Vazquez thank you very much
Best year. Such a sick car. Love it
Ford guy here...nice nice car. Got the stance down perfect and I like how he backed off of it to make it more enjoyable.
Question is, who disliked this video?
Robert Elmo thank you
Great car! Really clean, simple and effective! And what a cool owner, really modest of his accomplishment when his truck is something brag about!
Craig Reeve thank you 🙏🏻
@@cjdeck67 Is this your Camino? Have a 67 also, in Ca and had some questions to email perhaps?
I can tell you went to a lot of trouble as that front end appears to stay flat under acceleration .
Thanks
Great job, good luck Chris
I LOVE EL CAMINO'S !!!!!! THIS ONE IS SO BADASS!!!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
John Behneman thank you very much
I just love 67's! Wish I could have seen it with the bbc! Rad car!
The vibe is always just amazing, really. Another cool guy, great car. Chris is right, all you need is the passion to make it happen. A LOT of time and effort went into this car hey, solid, no nonsense, badass, raw, functional. Love it! Those wheels are awesome and the way the car is set up, geez, it does dig in when floored. Great stuff, thanks Shawn
Thanks and yeah, he’s a great guy and built a killer ride
Love the conversation from auto to Manuel.. me too
When I was like, 14 or 15 (42 now) there was a rather sunbaked, kinda neglected, 66 El Camino 396 with the 4spd on some Rallys, I was constantly asking the guy to buy it, and he constantly said he was "going to do something with it" (the flat tires were literally becoming one with the asphalt 🙄).... never ended up getting it, but I did end up buying a 65 Impala Sport Coupe with a 283 and a, cough, powerglide lol....but it was damn near mint, this gorgeous Artesian Turquoise Metallic with matching turquoise vinyl and black and white houndstooth interior when I was 16..... and then a tree fell on it, killing it and my dreams before I could legally drive the F'ing thing 😮💨😖🥺😭
The story is probably the coolest one yet. He knows this car better than his wife.
Just an awesome story for an ordinary guy. Chris learned akot through the years, sounds like a builder for sure...nice shoot!
Very cool 🤙 my dad and his friend race engine builder Howard Green (powered by Howard) started a 67 elco that was on an art Morrison frame and they widened the body 4" car looked awesome with a 2400 hp bbc. The project was never finished. Howard went through some personal issues one week they were cranking away at it and the next week Howard sold everything out of the shop including car and all tools. And a few days later Howard committed suicide it's already been about a decade ago. We've recently located the car engine and tools all with separate people. So now we have to see if we can acquire everything.
Yeah Bro! Thats a crazy Elcomino, I love it! Just another example of all the great cars out there, thank you for the episode
Glad you enjoyed it too. Killer build with a great history
Great video guys, well done as always and I enjoyed it. Just one thing, if you guys could mix the audio a little better that'd be great. The clips of the Camino drag racing, and the music, sound twice as loud as the dialogue when they're talking about the car. Thanks again.
The drag racing clips were from Chris and really loud. Kyle said he lowered it but yeah, levels were a bit off here
A great build story. Love the black Ute.
What an incredible sound! I loved it. Hugs from Brazil.
Clean elco right there. Love the weld wheels.
Great car/truck, great story, solid drivetrain, man pedal----------I LIKE IT
Agreed and what a cool story of 22 years and different versions of builds
Bay Area!!!! Love this ride man! 🔥
He’s representing you guys well
AutotopiaLA He definitely is! This guys got nothing to prove. Just out to have a good time. Great guy!
That is one beautiful machine.
I find the story on this car very intriguing. Like I could see myself doing almost the same thing to my car. Over time preferences do change!
Cool ride gents very well built and very tough. we call these a Ute in Australia so anything with a tray style rear is a Ute to us it was more a work horse for guys on construction sites or farm utes look up Aussie Holden commodore utes and Ford falcon Utes they were built to be driven like a 2 door sports car with whatever u can carry in the rear very iconic down under . I think the word Ute means utility. 🤓
That’s what I’m gonna start calling these. Makes more sense
Another great build Shawn. You guys have a talent for finding the best cars.
Lovely balanced car.. amazing how a car that's so light in the rear hooks up nice job
It really hooks and goes
They arent as light as most would think back there. Used a cherry picker and hooked to what would be the seat belt holes in the smugglers box behind the window. Car was stripped nothing forward of the cowlb ut weight bias was still a little towards the rear . With a boxed frame and 4 link type setup these make killer drag cars. Wagons had the same boxed frame too.
You know I sent this to my mechanic, will see him tomorrow!!
One super clean elco
Sure is and he’s recently supercharged it!
Really a nice truck.
Definitely 👊
I like watching when the ride pulls you through gears!!! Great ride and great vid Shawn. Thanks👍👍👍
It pulls the entire time from what I felt
@@AutotopiaLA I can tell, which makes the video sooo cool!!!😎😎😎
Lovely machine!
Yeah, killer build and story
As an Elky connoisseur, this is approved.
Love that it's originally a home #GarageBuilt restomod, three times! Awesome job to Chris. Great video!
His history with this is so cool and it’s a serious driver
Those Control arms are so darn good looking 😎 Amazing ride! Cdeck just redid this machine again!
I’ll call it a car, and I love it..It’s beautiful
This Elco is perfection 👍
I miss my 79 SS clone.
This build and it’s history are incredible
This elco is so bad ass. Well put together and tasteful. Very functional and I agree plenty of hp.
Keep up the great work. Love the channel and I gotta get me some merch!
Very badass dream car/truck!
Yes!
Nice...good power and quality parts too..👍🏁
Serious build and such a cool guy
Yup. I like it ALOT.
That Elcamino looks badass.
It is a hard driver
Wow!! That is one killer Camino. Yet again another awesome video. Well done Shawn 👍
It is a killer build! Thanks
That's a sexy 67 with so much power
Very creative for someone who isn't a builder.
Not a new car with hp,love the build.
Definitely not a new ride...22 years he’s had this one!! Awesome build
Perfect ElCamino
The word you are looking for to describe the El Camino is Ute, short for "Coupe Utility"
This channel NEVER disappoints ⭐️
Thank you! We try showing the best in custom rides
Excellent build hands down.
Love the story and this build!
Love this channel. If you see this comment support these guys. Awesome awesome content
Thank you! I love the support 👊
Love the videos, best car channel on the tube. Perfect blend of information and entertainment. Quality content 👌🏻
Thank you! I’ll tell all the guys you said that
1:43 A little off topic but that C2 can't hide from me... let's see it Shawn!
And that El Camino is great, I love that he didn't put fake SS badges on it
Edit- also that blue chevelle next to it... I need a review of it or at least the name of the color :)
Agreed not a fan of clones!!
@port nut oh. When did they start the ss package on them?
Hell yeah ,love El Caminos this one is cool and he could be a builder if he wanted to
He did such a great job with this and obviously a long labor of love
The age-old question is it a car is it a truck👍🔧
That is a wicked El Camino! Love those weld wheels!
The wheels are so cool! Great ride and story
Another great production video! Keep up the great work Shawn!
Thanks and that’s Paul & Kyle that make it what it is. I just get to have all the fun! 😂
Anyone else notice how close the upper cross bar seems to be to their heads? It's *right* there.
Also, I find it kinda funny how he's looking down on those 'expensive' forged wheels when those exact Welds are $700+/ea. Not exactly cheap.
That bar is really close to the head but what a cool build and story
Badass!! And the rear tires still look meaty!!!
Beastly street car!💯
Badass El camino!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome
Suck a killer ride! Great job as always Shawn 👊
Thank you! Great build and it recently went through some massive changes. Possibly a reshoot in the future
This build 🔥
