Good video. Never looked at it that way.

I learned from skiing that to get your balance, you lean back and forth and then stop to find your center point-that's the sweet spot.

Perfect video and training. Exactly what I was looking for. I’m struggling with the out side edge work because of my lack of balance. Hope to improve soon.

I'm glad that was helpful. Balance is so important. I do have a whole skating course that focuses on balance that might help. You can see it on kellianhockey.com. (Online courses)

I must have watched this video 20 times (or more!) but this last time I noticed something that was pointed out to me by a FIGURE SKATING instructor. You show it best when you take your DYNAMIC stride steps but not so much with the SMALLER steps to learn the hip repositioning. What the figure skating instructor emphasized is that when the hip is shifted out and back, the shoulder should FOLLiOW that rotation to position the upper body more solidly over the hip. At slow speeds or smaller strides and turns that rotation is barely noticeable if it occurs at all! When I practiced the hip shift with the rotation, the stationary position was much more stable. In other words, the hip rotation must be accompanied a total body rotation as well. If not the upper body may actually partially block the rotation of the hip! I watched the models that you used in the video focusing on the shoulders and the shoulder actually do rotate with the hip. I'm sorry is this observation description was too lengthy but it may help someone having difficulty maintaining the single-footed balanced position. I'm 72 and it's harder to learn new balancing skills as one gets older. ALL OF YOUR VIDEO ARE GREAT! THANKS!

This was an excellent comment! Understanding the biomechanics make it possible to get your body moving properly... but more importantly, helps me be a better teacher! Lol. Thanks for this. I will definetely add it to my explanations. Awesome.
