Jeff, your videos have been the most helpful of any that I've seen regarding the Viking Octantis and what to expect on the Antarctica Explorer cruise. Your "real world" practical advice and tips are much appreciated. Thanks for your efforts!
Love the videos…we are seriously considering this one! I have a question about dress code on the boat…casual all around or still no jeans at dinner? Thanks
Jeff, thanks for all the great information. What time did you get back to Buenos Aires? I'm trying to figure out what time I should schedule return trip home.
Hey Troy, we didn't return thru Buesnos Aires, we flew a Viking charter plane from Ushuaia, landing for refueling in Montevideo, Uraguay and then on to Miami. It was not a good flight, all coach, poor service. Really rather unenjoyable. Hopefully they are making alternate arrangements for future voyages.
Crossing the Drake took about 1.5 days each way. I'll share more in Day 11 video but we had a pretty calm crossing on the way down and very much the opposite on the way back. 🌊
Did medicine you brought work for you when you were on the way back with rough water situation? We booked a 13 days trip with Viking Polaris on November 24 this year. So, really worried about crossing the drake passage.
We discussed our trip with our doctor and he prescribed us Zofran. He said it was typically used for nausea for folks on chemotherapy so it's pretty high powered vs. OTC meds like Bonine and Dramamine. We used it each morning on days we were crossing the Drake and felt it worked pretty well. I still had some slight nausea on the return crossing but not bad or long lasting. We talked to folks on board who used the "patch" and some say it worked and others said it very much didn't. Not to scare you but based on how few people were walking around the ship on crossing day I would say most folks hunkered down and didn't leave their rooms. I have to assume this was from sea sickness but don't know that for sure. My wife and I were totally fine on the first crossing and walked the ship freely, when few others were out and about. I hope this helps.
Thank you very much! It is really helpful! How many meters was the wave? Did the returning crossing scare you and your wife? Do you think it was dangerous?
Great! Not sure on the meters, will post some video on Day 11. Not scared and not dangerous feeling at all, just waves. Overall the Octantis handled it beautifully. What an amazing ship she is!

Thanks for the kind words Bob!
@@JeffTSanders I've inquired separately, but have you released Day 9 and beyond yet?
@@bobgrossman9067 not yet, working on Day 9 now though 🤞
@@JeffTSanders sounds good, Jeff. Looking forward to seeing the remaining videos in your series...they're outstanding!
Thanks again for #2!
Good info, thanks for the video. Hope you've tested negative by now.

No jeans at the reservation restaurants (Manfredi's & Chefs Table) but jeans are fine any time at World Cafe or Mamsens.

Are burgers and onion rings available as at the pool side grill on the Ocean ships?
Pretty sure they are.
Hey Jeff!
Howdy Nik!
