Diana Constantinide sure thank you! I have some questions... what schools are good to be a human rights lawyer, what cases do you stand up for, what’s the salary like, private company or something else, subjects to get there?
Diana Constantinide what exactly does a human rights lawyer do such as what type of issues you work on and what exactly it’s about? As well as what does it take to be able to be a human rights lawyer?
Hi I was just wondering what qualifications you have? It’s my dream to be a human rights lawyer, I am from the UK but I live in Switzerland. I want to study law and then specialise in international/human rights but I am wondering is there anything else I should do? Intern for the UN? And does this lead to opportunities to be a diplomat or an ambassador? Thank you, I never get the opportunity to ask these questions to actual human rights lawyers. Keep doing what you’re doing and have a great day.
My dear Gracie, thank you so much for getting in touch. There are endless opportunities at the UN that you can do whilst at school. To practice the legal aspect of international and human rights it is vital that you have a law degree. From there on, you will determine your path. In relation to becoming a diplomat, even though not my area, I understand that there are exams. If you are passionate about positive contribution and been vocal about human rights, I can reassure you that humanity needs you :) There is nothing stopping from starting NOW. I was wondering if a JD would be helpful in fulfilling my life long dream of becoming a human rights lawyer or am I better of doing an LLM? I would really appreciate your advice 🥺
Hi Vinya, i hope your studies are going well. There are countless of options when shaping your legal career and sometimes it is about trying things out. If you know that you want to be a human rights lawyer and advocacy is an aspect of your interest i would say qualify in your home jurisdiction and then register in the international courts after getting the experience gathered from practicing. I hope this helps.
Thank you Ashikul for your question. Stress is a feeling generated when desires are not fulfilled. Being a lawyer is not stressful but it is demanding. If you have the acquired skills the demand of the work shapes you and makes you better day by day. I hope this answers to your question.

Just saw this video and loved it! Thank you so much for sharing. I'm from the UK but I'm moving to the states to study English at college. My dream is to go to law school and become an international human rights lawyer. I was wondering how relevant an English degree is/ what skills do you think are the most vital for law? Thanks so much! 😊😊
My dear Anna, thank you so much for your beautiful comment. Everything is relevant. It contributes towards who you are becoming. In relation to the skills, I would say that you need to be faithful to yourself and your values and not get lost in this journey, never allow anyone to make you feel inferior. Seize the day! All the best, D.C
Just saw your video, Im currently in university here in the USA, and I have experience as a paralegal/litigation assistant, I have worked as an intern for the Hellenic Republic's Consulate here in New York. Are these valid internships for international law firms?
Hi! I'm a senior in high school, yet I still have no clue on what I want to do in my future. I'm a creative type, I love writing, I love film, and photography, but I also have a huge passion for helping people and motivating them. I've often thought about being a teacher or a psychologist, but I don't think that that's what I want to do for the rest of my life. I've recently been thinking of studying to be a Human Rights Lawyer, but I've never thought about law before. I would really appreciate if you could maybe give me some advice. Will my will and passion to help others be good enough to be a HR lawyer? What other qualities is it that I need? And thanks for this video, I enjoyed it ☺️
I feel your insecurities for the future, when I was about to apply for universities it became serious and challenging. There is so much to address, I was thinking making a video so others (like your self can find the answers). I will take those that you have listed but if you have any others let me know on Instagram @dianalousia. All the best, Diana

Hi Diana, I really loved this video and I wanted to know would a Law/Criminology combined degree help you to become a human rights lawyer. Because I have just finished my A levels and applied to do a degree in law and criminology and I just wanted to know if im on the correct path.😬
Congratulations on finishing your A levels. Do you mean human rights lawyer as an advocate? If yes, you will need to qualify as a lawyer, so a degree in law and criminology will do it.
Dear Diane, I'm a law student in Italy ( I am in my final stage of studies! :) ), I have already an internship experience for a EU organization in Luxembourg, and I can speak fluently 3 languages.I was wondering if you have any recommendation to give me in order to find my way into the international field. I tried to apply for internships for NATO, but it seems so difficult to get in there, even for an internship :((
My dear, well done on securing and completing an internship with a EU organisation. This is a huge achievement. Turning to your question, international law is not straightforward but that is the beauty of it. It entails diversity, innovative and progressing thinking. The question is not collecting recommendations to find your way into the international field, rather, what does international law need from you? What is your purpose and call? Is it advocacy, being in an NGO, climbing the ladder of international institutions? Focus and identify your goal but at the same time be open and attract the opportunities that may be disguised. Keep me posted. All the best, Diana

Hi Daniella, there isn't such as thing as an international law degree per se. You will have to complete a law degree, there is always an option for international law. In relation to your second point, no barrister is not the same thing as an advocate. I would recommend the country that provides you with the most opportunities. All the best, D.C
