your water is incredibly clean
catfish in the 90 are synodontis lucipinnis, not ocellifer, more commonly called petricola(or dwarf petricola/false petricola) .. its the white tipped dorsal fin that gives it away. multipunctatus look almost the same, but bigger eyes, and no white tip on the dorsal
The one good thing about pet smart are their prices on certain fish, such as the denison barb. They cost 25-35 at the LFS, but I've seen them on sale at pet smart for 4-7 dollars

what's the measurements of your tank?
how this he keep the water so crytal clear, talking about the 90g, apart from the glass being high quality but its so awesome.
My water looks this clear and i add no chemicals or anything,not even carbon, only chemical is when i add water i use prime... My tank is 30 gallon,i have have a hang on back 350 marineland filter and a few live plants, the biggest mistake people make is they over feed their fish, only feed once a day and only feed what they can eat in a couple minutes which is a very small amount in most cases, and every five days skip a feeding, it's good for the tank and fish..
sn9696 Yeah, I had some cloudiness for a while so I fed them very little for 3 days, then didn't' feed them at all for 2 whole days. Then did a small water change. Now it's super clear…
Question, why do you have a Marineland 350 filter for a 30 gallon tank. I have a Marineland 100 bio wheel filter for my 29 gallon tank. It works great.. I do tend to over feed sometimes still.. ugh… but learning the fish don't need that much food…
But, I noticed tonight, my small Vase, 8 1/2 gallon vase which I turned into an Awesome Fish tank, is just perfect. The plants are blooming, growing and super green. And the water is super clear!! The fish are happy and healthy. And I don't do anything to it.
Now my 29 gallon, the water is not as clear, the plants don't grow as fast and are not as green and I have Co2 in the 29 Gallon too… 1 bubble per second. But no Co2 in the smaller 8 1/2 gallon tank.
I use the same exact substrate, plants, fish and everything except the light. But today I realized the Nitrates in the large tank are super low. And the nitrates in the smaller tank are a bit higher. Still in the safe zone but higher. And the plants in that, smaller, tank are kicking Butt!!! I am now purposely feeding the larger tank more fish food to increase the nitrates to feed the plants to see if that works. The lighting in the larger tank is actually a much better light for plants. So the only thing I can figure out is the nitrates feed the plants. And the larger tanks nitrates are super low almost non existent.. so I am purposely going to try to raise that a little too see if it helps!

Sweet set up. With all the fish it looks a little to busy for my taste, like a crowded look. However I think this is just an illusion made from all the open space ur minimalistic design provides. Or perhaps u have too many mid water column dwelling fish.

Maverick Tide Is your drift wood real ?? I bought a big piece and didn't boil it and my water was so nasty looking! I took it out and will boil it but so afraid its still going to turn brown again , how is your water so clear with yours !! Please tell me need some help! BTW your fish are beautiful!!😉

Anybody know much about rainbow fish? I was wondering if the red rainbows are more active than the boesmans rainbow fish the rainbow in this tank seemed super active looking to put one in my 75 gal
Gunnar Bjorklund don't put only 1 rainbow they're schooling fish the red ones are bigger they're 12 cm bosemanis are more chilled out
those roseline sharks are either massive or that tank is way smaller than a 90 gallon

Maverick Tide Those fish with the yellow spots on their tail are awesome! I cant find them where i live, also I bought a big piece of Driftwood and it turned my water brown, so I had to take it out wasted 24 dollars on that thing why doesn't your water turn brown???
Flo Green, your water turned brown from the tannins released from the wood. You can either soak the wood in a large bucket for a few weeks or you could try boiling it for a few hours to get rid of most of the tannins. Your water will still be a little discolored while you first put the wood in, but the tannins are good. They soften your water and help prevent fungal infections. You can also remove some tannins with a carbon filter. The only bad thing about them is the discoloration.

heather mewmew I forgot to ask you if the brown color will ever go away altogether if I boil it? I have one of those carbon things that goes in the filter , I replace it every to weeks. Thanks for your advise its very helpful I love the look of the driftwood so I might put it back in! 😊
