Shephard is a Marine who found himself in extremely SNAFU/FUBAR situation without order to kill any Scientists on sight (Not to mention he actively cooperated with them instead.), and actually tried to save Black Mesa by disarming the Nuke (later reactivated by Gman) and killing the Gene Worm. HECUs who Shephard came across were stranded or left behind just like him, only to be killed by Xenians, Race X, Black Ops, or Nuke blast. If Shephard gets released from Statis he won't be bloodthirsty individual unlike Doom guy but just a Marine without an orders who will try to survive from immediate dangers. However that does not mean he is "Every man for himself" type of guy, being a Corporal, he can reorganize remnants and lead the charge against enemy like he did in Black Mesa.
awww...Dr. Breen was one of my favorite charactors...even though he was evil and orchestrated Earth's fall to the aliens...and tried to kill you multiple times...jeez the character is a bad person. But it's still sad the actor died. =(
Heheh...I actually bought the game in it's original cardboard box (as well as Blue Shift) about 2 years ago ;D....sure I had played the expansion back in the day when they came out, but I had only borrowed them from a friend back then. Original Half-Life I have owned since 1999, but now I curse myself for throwing it's cardboard box away, so I dont have the "complete" collection ;D

Doesn't seem too hard, Gordon is free of the G-Man so it would make sense for him to draw Adrian out of retirement to do his dirty work. He is, after all, a natural survivor like Dr. Freeman.
