Especially since the original Prey had some great concepts that could've been made even better in a sequel. And that the original idea for Prey 2 was apparently pretty good.

honestly, Prey is a really underated game. The enemies are scary, the environments are stunning, and the story and atmosphere is really cool!

Prey 2006 is a decent game. I have no idea why people act like it was the second coming of Christ or something, it was a standard space-themed fps game with some cool gimmicks.
I own the fucking game, and beat it probably 10 times in my life before I ever touched Prey 2017, but yeah it's decent. It's got a lot of issues in my opinion, but it's a decent game overall.
Completely dismissing the experience that Prey 2017 has to offer solely because it has the same name as a totally different game from 11 years prior makes no sense.
It would be like if Breath of The Wild released and they instead called it "Skyrim" and I said it's shit b/c it's not Skyrim. That's idiotic.
Yeah, in truth they shouldn't have called it Prey, its stupid that Bethesda did that to keep the copyright or whatever, but you know what? Making the comparison to the 2006 game as if they're somehow comparable and then dismissing the 2017 game entirely becuase it's not the same is pretty stupid too.
Neither game is perfect, but if I had to choose one over the other I'd go with the 2017 Prey simply because there's more going on mechanically, that is if we're gonna make direct comparisons, of course.
