- Moment Russian warplane accidentally drops bomb in Belgorod | This is the astonishing moment a Russian warplane accidentally bombed its own city of Belgorod near the Ukrainian border in a humiliating blunder by Vladimir Putin's forces. Video shows the Su-34 fighter jet mistakenly dropping the bomb in the middle of a road in the city on Thursday night before the ammunition exploded into a huge fireball. The blast, which tore through the road, narrowly missed moving cars as well as an apartment block in Belgorod, which is about 15 miles from the Ukrainian border. The large explosion left a huge 70ft crater in the middle of the road and damaged homes and roads. Two women were injured in the blast, with one being hospitalised. Video footage from the site showed piles of concrete on the street, several damaged cars and a building with broken windows in a disaster that could have been far worse.

As a Russian general, I can confirm our tank turrets have spent longer airtime over Ukraine than our air force has.
The jet probably flew over a hospital or kindergarten in Belgorod and the bomb automatically decoupled out of reflex.

Luckiest possible scenario for the residents, all but one car got out of the way, and if that bomb dropped a split second earlier it would be penetrating and exploding from inside those buildings in the back

The people of Belgorod were living peacefully until that night. Now they know that there is a war going on and that they are not safe.
Only those recently arrived . All the others were already aware as Belgorod has previously been targeted with Ukrainian drone and missile strikes .
Belgorod has been a target of Ukrainian attacks before that though. If I remember correctly, a building in the oblast (not sure if inside of the city) was hit killing 4 people.
And of course the destruction of fuel storages by Ukrainian drones.

The car who went flying was parked on the side of the way. it had the lights on, so probably somebody was inside. And it went up to the 5th floor. RIP to somebody.
I know im 5 months late but there was no one in that car. The lights were off and the explosion somehow triggered the car to turn them on

If you look again , the only reason he got caught was because the guy who was driving past when the bomb first landed had pulled up and was slowing the traffic down . . @@neilp6208 the previous commenter is incorrect. This bomb is designed to guide towards its target, meaning that the delay is to give it flight time. In this case, the wings didn’t deploy properly so it dropped like a regular bomb causing it to explode on Russian soil

It was highly likely a penetrator (concrete piercing bomb) of sorts with a delay ignition because as you saw in the footage it took some seconds for the blast force to come out from below and it pushed the car and concrete first upwards like a fountain instead of sending it farther left and right. And yet the right comment is..WTF!!🙄

The russian citizens are not in control of their government by their own choice, fear, and/or support of the war, and the western citizens are at least able to show the world how different they are in that regard.
